I ordered takeout from Good Co Bar for the first time and was really impressed. I went with the veggie burger & fries and added the crispy cauliflower on the side--both were absolutely delicious. The veggie burger was flavorful, well-seasoned, and held together perfectly (which isn't always the case with veggie burgers!). The bun was fresh, and all the toppings complemented each other really well. The fries were golden, crispy, and generously portioned--exactly what you want from a bar-style side. But the real standout? The crispy cauliflower. Perfectly cooked with a light, crunchy coating and great seasoning. I could've eaten an entire tray of those alone. Pickup was quick and easy, and everything was still hot and fresh when I got home. Definitely looking forward to trying more of their menu next time--maybe even dining in. Colony Northwoods opened mid-September and is already one of the busier places in the area. After a crazy week at our jobs, Oracle and I decided to grab Happy Hour at Colony Northwoods. They only have 3 food items on their happy hour menu including the nickel burger, a 2 slider place and wings. Compared to other bars, their food offerings were definitely lacking but they did excel in the craft beer department. I decided to go with a highball ($4) and Oracle went with the on tap Lavender craft ($5.25). She really enjoyed the hint of lavender in her beer and it wasn't too fizzy either. read more

Nashville sandwich is super tasty and has a good kick to it spice wise. The 22 is also very good however the chicken breast was very small and didn't fill the bun (see pic). Good selection of beer and cocktails and a fun pub atmosphere. Fries and poutine were just meh as was the service- took the waitress about 10mins to acknowledge us after we were seated. A friend told me this place has the best veggie burger around, so.... had to see for myself. Well it was pretty good, but not quite as good as A&W's Beyond burger. Was still quite good though. My partner had the rainbow bowl which he loved. There were several tasty looking vegetarian items on the menu, so we'll surely be back. The pub is very nice. Beautiful interior. Great location. Final Thought: Not sure what they aim to do beside be mediocre. Food: okay (had the smash burger and lemon pepper fries), nothing to complain about, nothing to write home about Drinks: decent number of taps, but generally all garbage beers and they only serve 16 oz pints (I like flights, but I get that it's more work - at least offer sleeves though... Also, we live in Canada, a pint should be 20 oz, and they are not upfront about this on their menu) Service: friendly, but dumb. They literally know nothing about the beers, they don't know the name of the beer other than what brewery it's from. Completely useless product knowledge. Tipping options on the machine are ridiculously high. Atmosphere: similar to a Moxies - a less cool, less sexy Cactus Club vibe; inoffensive, but bland. Many of the chairs have ripped upholstery. Overall: I hate the Kitsilano location, this is a small step up (specifically moving away from the dive bar atmosphere). Many of the same issues with this chain exist though - management is clearly lazy and doesn't train staff properly. Product knowledge is in the gutter and whoever is choosing the liquor to bring in clearly has terrible taste. read more

This place is a joke. The worst food I have ever had. Happy hour gives you a minor discount on poor quality food. The taco was boiled chicken on a corn tortilla. Crispy cauliflower was greasy bits that looked worse than cat food. Beer is slightly discounted but also in shrunken sizes so where's the deal there? The waitress was super rude and expected an 18% tip. Never returning! The decor is totally falling apart as well, with faux leather chairs that are all peeling. Just gross! read more

Went here for my birthday with my 2 roommates as there's not much else to do during the pandemic and sat for half an hour not being served as we watched our server make out with the boy at the table next to us, take shots with him and then agree to go smoke a joint outside with him during her shift resulting in our table only getting one drink during the hour we were there before last call. I get it that this is a new restaurant and all, but the ownership group is not new to this business. They have a restaurant that fills up by 5pm daily, yet every staff member is new. They pulled no staff from other locations or business. They were overstaffed and under trained. The food came out randomly, as if they had no expediter in the kitchen sorting out chits and food that was up. A dish would come out and then 10 minutes later another would come out, and these were main courses. Trying to modify or create a dish suitable for vegetarian kids was near impossible. They wouldn't even find a way to make a small plate of nachos with cheese. We ordered the tater tots and they were cold and undercooked with easily a cup of sour cream lathered on them. So unappetizing that our table returned them. Vegans, if you're looking for something, they have a Buddha bowl you could get a better version of next door at buddhaful. Their veggie patty has egg and I'm pretty sure it's the black bean burger from Costco. The chicken fajitas were advertised as plain chicken, yet the were so covered in Cajun spice that it overpowered any other flavor and my dad simply left the chicken out of the rest of his fajitas as it was overpowering. The beers are great, the space is awesome. Give it time and they'll iron out the kinks, but wow, what a terrible experience. Our server, Teah, was great. She handled herself perfectly and professionally. The kitchen needs to sort itself out and prepare food properly and send it out at appropriate times. Finally we got a place to hang out for birthdays etc without crossing the bridge or heading towards LOLO aka Lonsdale. It took us 4 mins to get here woohoo - a major win. Colony is already a well known established place in vancouver and thank you for venturing out in north shore, having said we got invited for a birthday party and we were sat down in super uncomfortable - right in the centre of restaurant on a seating on 8 despite we had 13 people in our party. Guys had to request the servers to change a table upon which they took us to the booth area and told us WE HAVE THIS TABLE FOR 1 hour and 30 MINS; no one took her seriously as we were certain no one is going to kick us off our table once we sat down and of course 3 hours down and more people joined us instead of us standing table-less. Apart from this major sad welcome rest of the evening went pretty smooth. We ordered bunch of appetizers to be shared for the table and love love love love their wings-- lemon pepper ones were my personal fav and they were delish, a must try. And have I mention how good French fries are???? Yes they are beer battered and so yum, please try them too. It's like if you wanna cheat might as well cheat for these ones. Didn't even liked the idea of their' version of calamari, someone else might ; just wasn't my plate of calamari. I like my traditional way deep fried and tons of jalapeño and sweet peppers I guess. The place is brand new and I totally get it as it does take some time and that's why the drink' service wasn't prompt enough, else I would had had more if asked instead flagging and waving the servers everytime . Katie was super attentive and asked me if I needed another beer at that perfect moment that only good barmen can sense. 2 beers, wings and a pan of fries later, I was a happy man. I didn't know that the north shore had a colony bar so I was surprised when going to this location for lunch. The space is nice but smaller than I anticipated. It's has the feel of a sports bar but with high ceiling. I wasn't very hungry that time so I just ordered a basic Caesar salad. I'm not quite sure the price point was worth what was served as it was just romaine lettuce, dressing, a wedge of lemon and maybe 6 croutons. It's was a sensibly sized bowl for a main salad but even adding a couple pieces of a protein would be a more reasonable price of $12. I tried some of their fries from my friends veggie burger and they were great. Nice crunch but also fluffy on the inside aswell. Overall I would say it's a nice place you you want a simple lunch and decent priced drinks as well. read more

Tried Colony for the first time and it's good spot for lunch!! The place is pretty small so I would get their early (they open at 11:30). Staff were really nice and even though it was really busy with everyone having Christmas lunches, they were still able to make sure we were looked after. Food was great! A little on the smaller size for portions but not too bad. The Nashville chicken sandwich was awesome and I would definitely have again!! I'd come back for sure - it was a great lunch spot. Mine went dead cold while I waited another 10 minutes for vinegar because the waitress "forgot" the food was a solid 2 stars. The veggies were fresh but and the presentation was nice but I wasn't expecting much from the food. I liked the outdoor patio though and would probably only go here for drinks in the future. Well we waited for a salad and a chicken sandwich for over 50 min. with the restaurant half full. We arrived close to 7 pm and at 7:55 our food arrived after we complained to the great waitress that served us. The manager was a BIG A.... "What would you like me to do, if you are just telling me". He never checked back after we've got our food. Oh well, we came one time a few years ago when they open prior to Covid and now I think we will never come back again. First Impression, pretty OK. We enter the place at 2:30 pm. Entry looks straight up like a yoga studio. The hostess (extremely emaciated young blond with a bun updo) greets us with barely a smile. Just tells us to wait, then disappears. We wait about 5 minutes then out of curiosity walk past the hostess stand into the restaurant. There's maybe 5 other customers in there. Hostess walks back and tells us to follow. No smile, no "how're you doing today?" Nada, nichts. This girl should work in a funeral home. Our comment to the owners, why not just let people seat themselves during off hours when the hostess clearly needs a nap? Thankfully it goes uphill from there. Our server was a Kiwi or Aussie dude, really friendly, no deadpan face there, he was alive, happy and on the ball. Yay! We order beer & wine, grilled avocado bowl and fish sandwich. Everything is delivered in a timely manner and the food was yummy. Hot food was hot, cold food was cold. 2 drinks each, 2 mains came to $57 with tip. That's pretty cheap in my book. We also noticed that have $3 drinks on Tuesdays. Say what??? Pretty good deal for eating out all around. In comparison to the ultra tantrically coolio Buddhaful in the same plaza we'd definitely choose Colony. The decore here is uppercrust country yoga and they have a world class patio, not a Heineken umbrella in sight. inconsistent service, food quality is beyond hit and miss if they have it. you can order the same cocktail and have it made different every time. always a change of staff. over priced and many nights seems like a lot of underage kids. used to be a regular but once the 1 waitress and bartender manager that were consul and could do the job were gone it's been downhill. would not recommend at all. they even got rid of the kids menu! read more

First time back to Colony Northwoods after COVID, and it was great. Our server, wearing a mask, was pleasant and efficient. Our chicken sandwiches (one Nashville and one Crispy) were perfectly cooked. Unavailable tables due to distancing were clearly marked, and I noticed staff doing a good cleaning after patrons left their tables. There was a 5 minute wait for a table. When we got inside there were loads of empty tables. Not sure if they were short on staff or if this was a strategy for making it seem more popular than it is. Either way, not very service friendly. Add to that the staff didn't seem very happy to be working there. As for food...the burger was okay and the fries were soggy like they were cooked in a microwave and not crispy from a deep frier. I think this "bar" needs to work out a few glitches yet. Not much ambiance in this place which was extremely disappointing. They could have done so much more with the lighting and seating plan. We were at one of the small tables lined up for two, or if you bring tables together, more people. Way too many tables! I couldn't even squeeze between tables to sit down! Very uncomfortable and too close to your neighbours. They should take out at least one or two tables to make more room. Girls serving and hosting were running all over the place looking flustered, didn't seem very organized. After waiting so long to have this place open, I was sadly disappointed. Statement light fixtures instead of boring white pendants would go a long way! Fingers crossed things improve. read more
