I think the seafood was very good here. The fried shrimp appetizer and the clam chowder were very good. The red snapper and the surf and turf with the skirt steak was also very good. I would have given them 4 stars but the cleanliness of the restaurant was not adequate for me. Some of our silverware had food on them that must not have all been taken off from the dishwasher. There was this air freshener they had that was so strong it was burning my nose. I understand you may want to take away some of the fishy smell but this was worse. A nice and quiet place, service was top tier, the food I have to say tasted as good as the photos. Classic wedge with great blue cheese crumbles and real thick bacon. Crab pot tasted clean. We had the Conneticut lobster roll, lobster Mac and cheese, and the lobster bomb. All the dishes were packed with lobster! The best dish out of all the them was the lobster bomb! It was so DELICIOUS! The sourdough bread tasted so good soaked in the lobster bisque soup! I'd definitely come back in to order it again. The lobster roll was good, but it could have been better if had more hot drawn butter. The lobster Mac and cheese was ok/good, but not good enough to order again. One thing disappointing was that all of our entrees were served lukewarm. Next time I come I will tell them prior to make sure the entrees are served hot. For dessert we had the dulce de leche cheesecake and the Mississippi mud pie. The cheesecake was disappointing. It wasn't good except the dulce de leche on top. The Mississippi mud pie was FANTASTIC! I love Jacks and have eaten there many times. However last Friday when I picked up lunch I was really disappointed. Not in the food, that was great as usual. BUT the Staff person helping me was eating her lunch at the little table next to the kitchen. With her fingers. Then she got up to help me. If I had not insisted, she would not have washed her hands! She had no intention of doing so, and was ready to take my money. I insisted that she wash her hands and she did so rather begrudgingly. That was truly disgusting and perhaps even in violation of some health code. It sure should be. So, hopefully Management will read this and speak to their Staff about public health procedures! Finally tried this place and the customer service was great and food was very tasty. I placed a take out order and the wait time was quick. Lobster was delicious as well as my soup. My only complaint is the portion sizes are on the small size. Particularly the $34 whole belly clams. I know they are a rarity and sell at a premium but either lower the price to match the portion or increase the portion to match the size. read more

Went to celebrate my friend's birthday. I usually look up the menu before arriving but I didn't this time. I ordered a lobster roll with truffle fries. There was a decent amount of lobster in the sandwich. The bread was perfectly buttered and toasted. To drink I had a raspberry lavender fizz. It was very light and refreshing. The staff was very patient. It took me a while to decide on what I was going to order. Surprisingly for a Friday night, Jack's was not packed. We had a reservation. There was live music but it wasn't too loud where we were screaming to talk to each other. The outside seating area looks great for warm spring days and cool summer nights. I got the hot lobster roll Connecticut style to trial. A little expensive for a sandwich but is tasty. It looked overflowing with lobster until you realized, the bread was not totally sliced to the edge- only a little over halfway. The chips are fresh cooked and well seasoned. I personally could use a lot more butter on my bread and lobster (that's just me). I like a little bread on my butter- lol. It is side street parking. Wow!! One of the best experiences I've ever had catering for my film crew!! I spoke with Koko directly who was unbelievably kind and knowledgable, and went above and beyond to ensure my crew and I were happy and well-fed. Even when going to pickup the food, he helped me carry everything out to my vehicle as it was a large order. As aforementioned, I placed a large catering order on a Monday morning and Koko and the team made it happen! I discovered Jack's Surf and Turf at a recent event and saw online that they also had non-seafood options, as we had a few seafood allergies/aversions on set. When I called to place the order, Koko was super accommodating and assured me I could feed all of the crew with vegetarian and meat options--and I did! Everything was cooked and prepared to perfection. The tacos were FULL and loaded with flavor (we got chicken and beef), the salads and dressings were delicious, the coleslaw was (and I quote) "some of the best I've had" from some members in the crew, the sliders were gone in seconds, the mac & cheese was flavorful and creamy, and the chicken tenders and fries were a yummy combo. I found the personal touch of my name on all the "thank you" notes on the boxes such a lovely thing to do. Again: above and beyond! My only note for next time is maybe including a hearty vegan option, as I wasn't aware of any on the menu. However, everything else was fantastic and I was able to accommodate the vegan crew member with a salad and fry platter. I believe they're undergoing a rebrand to "Jack's Surf and Turf" and let me tell you right now, their "Turf" is just as incredible as their "Surf", so I'm in full support of this haha! Overall, I was blown away by the service, kindness, flavor, and value, and I don't write this kind of thing about just any place. Every thing I tried was amazing. The lobster bisk hands down my favorite. The oysters were really fresh and delicious. The lobster po boy was delicious too They say it's BYOB, but they do serve wine. I stopped by for lunch on New Year's Eve 2021. Obviously omicron has made everyone less out-and-about. There was one table of dine-in customers and plenty of other available seating. Im sure this is at least part of the reason my dish came out in less than 10 minutes. I went with the cod sandwich on ciabatta. It's delicious fresh fish, just as advertised. But its breading was totally unnoticeable in both flavor and texture. Cole slaw in the sandwich added a needed crunch and carried a very sweet mayonnaise that is done well, although sweet mayo isn't to my liking. Thick ciabatta was the perfect vessel for holding a messy sandwich. The potato chips weren't good. No potato flavor, and short on crunch. I'd go with the fries next time, even with the $3 surcharge. Summit and Short Hills aren't exactly overflowing with fast casual seafood choices and this place is just down the street from Wine Library, so I'd be happy to go again when I'm in the area. read more

Unfotunately not a good experience at all. Placed an online order that was reported as ready, however when arrived six (6) individuals were waiting for their orders already past due. It was 45 minutes later my order was delivered. Though it was Fathers Day, for which the hotstess apologized as the excuse, there was less then a third of the tables occupied, and plenty of staff to serve. They stopped all on-line & delivery as soon as I entered, as the kitchen was overwhelmed, there was little if any management going on, mostly chaos as a number of people tried to come in to sit, but were turned away. The food here is good, but expensive for what you get, and there were misses like the grouper sandwich was over-cooked, extra charge for not enough Marinara with Calamari. Lobster Roll was more filler and mayo than Lobster. However, the Lobster Mac N Cheese was very good. read more

Decided to stop in and try Jacks since it isn't far from my office. I've already been to Montclair and Edgewater so wanted to see if Millburn lived up to the others. Gladly it did. Victor greeted us very warmly and sat us immediately. Our server, Lucy, was friendly and polite. We got lobster bisque, lobster rolls, and fried oysters. Everything was fresh and the food came out pretty quickly. Glad to report that the quality remains constant at all three locations. The spot here is nice and spacious. I think they also have an upstairs. This will not be the last time we stop in for lunch. It's been added to the list of local spots to go during lunch hours at work. Go check them out.
