Joey's was super cute! I had my kids with me, so I was looking for something with good food and vibes, but also spacious and not too stuffy. This was perfect! They menu has all of the Italian classics - pasta, meatballs, pizzas, salads, parms, etc. For an app we started with an order of two meatballs. These were absolutely massive, so flavorful and came with a large dollop of ricotta. We also tried some super cheesy rice balls which were chefs kiss. The chicken parm was pounded thin and delicious, and the orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage came with a massive portion. Also an honorable mention for the bread basket which was overflowing with fresh and hot seasoned bread. Service was speedy and friendly, holiday decor was cute and there is a full bar. During my visit, I experience good customer service; an employee is kind and helpful with navigating the menu. The Garlic Knots are so delicious; the knots are so fluffy and soft though firm like chewing savory (more so texture wise) cotton candy that does not dissolve. With every bite, flavoring seems to improve, especially with the soft though thicker than thinner more savory than sweet tomatoe-ish sauce. From my order experience, the mozzarella after flavor lingers with the garlic after flavor for about 30 and 40 hours. Yum, though I prefer the garlic more so than the mozzarella, all quite tasty. The establishment accepts different forms of payment. The establishment connects with a neighboring eatery, by way of a mid way pass, and both establishments offer different selections. Between both establishments are a variety of eating options, though one may need to ask about where is suitable to eat between the two, if ordering between the two. I thought i was going to Clemenzas. Turns out i went to Joeys. Fuhgeddaboudit! Anyway the place is nice. Service was prompt. Food took a little extra time. But it was worth it. Had the Artichoke Pizza. Very good. Spicy shrimp. Which my friend liked the sauce so much he bought a pint to bring home. I had the grouper seafood special. Which was also good. Joey's is likely good for watching a game (several large televisions) and could be good for groups (seems to have a private room in the back), but on a regular Friday night around 6 PM -- the experience was mediocre, at best. First we were offered a table in front (the restaurant was empty). Then we were told those tables were taken because of live music happening momentarily. Spoiler alert: there never ended up being live music. Then they moved us to the back and kept debating out loud how they'd minimize the amount of space they'd given us as a five person group, because they didn't want to use two tables. It was incredibly awkward. The service was poor (except the bread service) - they stopped by the table infrequently, barely refilled our waters, and food was very slow. I asked the server if any of the soups were vegetarian. She said "probably not". I asked if she had any vegetarian entree recommendations. She said "not really". She suggested we could order a pizza and remove the bacon from it and it would be cheaper. We agreed and then the price was more expensive than on the menu. We asked how many slices each size pizza served - she said each pie had six slices. The conversations just made no sense... 3 stars because the portions were large and the cost was reasonable for downtown Millburn. We do not plan to return. read more

My friend works in town and he always loves coming here after work. I go with him sometimes. It's really neat they have happy hour like everyday. They make really really margaritas haha. I usually get that. Last time I was there I ordered some food. I ordered this Artichoke appetizer that was really yummy. Wish they put more on a plate, I ordered another haha. I also tried the risotto ball which was delicious! The Bruschetta was tasty as well. I also have tried their pasta specials. My friend usually gets that and that is always yummy. I'm not big on pastas but I'd eat that! Can't wait to go back and try more. read more

Nice chill, neighborhood sports bar and pizza spot. Decent service, good value and price for food compared to other nearby similar spots.

This place has gone through some changes over the years , but it perseveres. Went last night with another couple . Has a great bar and featured live entertainment last night. My wife and I shared a house salad . Nice size and plenty for the two of us. For mains my wife and buddy got the chicken parmigiana. My wife thought it was great and my friend said it was good. My friend's wife got the shrimp fra diavlo. And although she ordered it over a bed of spinach , it just came on a plate , plain. It took them forever to get the spinach and she was done with her shrimp y the time it came, however she said the shrimp were very good and spicy. I have the steak tips with mashed potatoes and thought it was very tasty. Drinks are reasonably priced , especially if you order bar liquor. Our waitress Allie always had a big smile on her face and was attentive. We will be returning. read more

Nice addition to downtown Millburn. The menu doesn't stray far from the standard north NJ Italian items, though as they come up to speed I expect to see them stretch with specials. (They just went past their soft opening). Ample parking nearby, friendly service. read more

Food was mediocre, but the execution was awful. 5:30 reservation and we told them we were seeing a play at the paper mill up the road at 7:30. So the owner promised to "have you out of here 6:45. Food was finally delivered at 6:44 after I had to walk to the front desk and ask if our food was ready. Several requests to refill the water bottle without it happening prompted me to get up and approach the table of a departing party and grab their bottle to refill our glasses myself. read more

We were in Millburn over the weekend and I was looking for somewhere to grab a late lunch and watch the Giants get blown out. We settled on Joey's and I'm really glad we did because the food was amazing. We loved the bruschetta and the chicken parm I got for my main was top notch - thinly sliced chicken, flavorful tomato sauce, and plenty of fresh melted cheese on top. They even had a good pour of Guinness on tap. Staff were all friendly and attentive as well - we would definitely come back next time we're in the area. read more

First time at Joey's and definitely adding to our Millburn dining rotation! Delicious food, nice to be able to get a cocktail or glass of wine, real neighborhood feeling - and being able to see the TVs at the bar from our table made it possible to have a nice dinner out and see the game. I've now been here quite a few times and find this to be the undiscovered gem of Millburn. A lovely decor with a welcoming dining room and bar. Full bar with all the top shelf liquor you'd expect. Awesome cocktail specialities and a good happy hour. Food is quite good. I am fond of the chicken meatball appetizer and the chicken parm with linguini with vodka sauce. The pizza is awesome. I love to sit at the bar, drink a Peroni and eat a delicious bar pie. Generous portions. Good prices. Great service. Go there before it gets discovered because it will. read more

Avoid this racist eatablishment!!!! I faced discrimination on 5/30. If you are a person of color or an advocate for Black Lives Matter, PLEASE beware!! Racist establishment with very poor service. I asked to place an order of fries. They told me the kitchen was closed. No big deal. Then, 20 to 40 minutes LATER, they bring out a plate of tater tots to a white woman. When I confronted them, they said it was slow and meant NO malice. They tried to tell me that I should have asked the manager when the bartender told me no. They then tried to offer me to buy something and harassed me instead of being apologetic. I bought three drinks, mind you. When the European American friends I was stated the actions from the bartenders appeared racist from the insincere apology. The drinks are cheap but subpar. Very traumatic experience I was forced to endure as a woman of color. I had to wait a long time for my drinks, and again, they refused to service me but provided privileged service to a white woman after they told me no. At least be consistent and be genuine if you try to correct an issue. They tried claiming it looks worse than what it is. They didn't offer free French fries or next round a free drink or anything. Honestly, the only reason they attempted to apologize after I told them I would be leaving a negative review of discrimination! They didn't care to apologize at first when I called them out on their disgusting racist behavior until I threatened that poor review. Then the manager decided he would apologize but again didn't take any real action. If it was truly a mistake, he could have expressed his deepest regrets but didn't. Instead, they offered to turn back on he fryer if I wanted French fries that badly but I would have to pay for them. I didn't care about French fries. I didn't care that the kitchen closed or the price of the food. I care about the prejudice and discrimination that has traumatically impacted me from YOUR wrongful actions. Joey's Tavern, you should be ashamed of your discrimatory behavior that you inflicted on me. It's 2024! Treat people with equality and kindness. read more
