Jack the Roofer is a stand-up guy. After having done some minor repairs for us at our previous home, he was asked to examine the roof of a home for which we were in escrow. He gave us a straight opinion on the condition of the roof. His report was challenged by the seller's agent, who found another contractor to state a different opinion. Escrow closed, we moved in. First rains came -- guess what? We had a roof leak. Jack came out and stated that the other roof contractor / seller should stand by their position that the roof was in decent condition. He called the seller's agent for us and suggested that this was no way to do business. He reminded her that he'd given his professional opinion that the roof was nothing but trouble. Within 24 hours the other roofer arranged to come by to examine the leaking area. He said that he would make needed repairs. As soon as the roof dried out, he sent a crew to find the problem and fix it. I believe this would not have happened so quickly and without further fuss had Jack not been kind enough to get involved. He made a couple of phone calls and results happened. This was out of his professional courtesy. If we stay in this house long enough to need a full roof replacement, Jack will be who we trust to do the job. He is straight talking and very protective of his customers. Jack the Roofer replied to my review however I don't think he is thinking of the right person as he is talking about a "he" and I'm a she! I stand by my review. I got 4 quotes and decided to use James Robertson for my roof and he did a fantastic job, I would recommend him 100%. I picked him for his fantastic reviews on Yelp and the fact that he didn't have any complaints with BBB, Jack the Roofer has a complaint listed with them. We did have small patches dry rot but no leaks, all the other roofers who quoted went up and walked the actual roof and inspected the fascias around the house before they quoted, Jack the Roofer was the only one who didn't go up on the roof to inspect, and the only one who said we had a leak. The other roofers said the roof was water tight but had dry rot on the fascias and it was getting close to replacement time. Yelpers can read the reviews and make their own decision. I made my decision and I'm glad I used James R Robertson to replace my roof. My neighbor was so impressed with them she is getting her roof done by James R Robertson next week. read more

Simply the worse possible workmanship you could possible find. He is rude, nasty, and totally unprofessional. I paid for a roof "tune-up" which included gutter cleaning. Everybody from this company is great to deal with - knowledgeable and professional. Jack came out to the house and reviewed the work to be done at the property and provided a fair and comprehensive estimate for roof & gutter work. Colleen in the office is prompt with return calls/appointments and is just a joy to talk to (tempted to call for no reason just to hear her voice). On the day the work was completed Travis and associate (my bad on name - but you know who you are) both did a great job with the gutter work on the house and were polite & efficient. Wait - it gets better. About a month after the work was done a leak showed up in the garage during recent heavy rains. After a call to the office they sent Russell out on the next dry day to check out the problem. He pointed out the areas of concern, explained the problems (bad sealing on some flashing & a bum tile) and made the repair. All of them came in relatively the same, however, the deciding factor for me was the friendliness and no "hard sell" approach that I encountered with their entire team. Colleen in this office was great and was very thorough in explaining the entire job to me, not to mention REALLY nice! I signed the contract and they started on my new roof within two weeks. They immediately called me when they encountered two more layers of old roof that needed to be torn off but they didn't want to continue until they had my permission. I wish I had known then what I know now. Don't make the same mistake I did. Who puts a down spot on the outside of a gate that swings outward?? The downspout had to be removed to open the gate. No way!!!! My mother had Jack the Roofer (Jack himself) out to her house and we had leaks in my brothers room. He charged us $1200.00 to do what???? Ill tell you exactly... TO POUR TAR ALL OVER OUR ROOF which looked HORRIBLE and UNPROFESSIONAL. And the worst part.... it continued to leak once the first rain... So my mother calls Jack and what did he do to fix it?? He poured more tar!! I felt like I was at a field trip to the La Brea Tar Pits!!! My poor mom is a single mom, I was so disappointed by what seemed like this nice guy who brought his cute dog everywhere with him... When Jack came out and looked at our roof, he recommended a silicone coating rather than re roof. OK. 10 year warranty, he guaranteed it would fix any issues. First rain, the roof leaks. Call Jack, no reply, call again, no return call, call again, nothing. Eventually I had to write a demand letter and what do you know? they call me back. A worker comes and "fixes" the roof with a bunch of Henry patches. Great, I could do that myself and save $10k. Next rain, roof leaks... I call Jack, no reply, call again... you get the picture, I send them another letter... Hey, a guy comes out. Next rain... leak! I call Jack, no reply, starting to get the picture? Eventually I hear from Jack, he's been injured... Ohhhh Kaaaayy.... He comes out and guarantees it will be fixed. Next rain.... Yeah, so I go on the roof. First, they did one coat of silicone when the manufacturer recommended a minimum of two. You could see through it. Next, the roof and coating was cracked all over the roof. I originally called him to look at my rain gutters, he quoted me a price and then was as honest enough to tell me that I didn't even need to change my gutters, I could work with what I have and he would put something up so what I currently have will still work.
