You do have to have an understanding of what you're asking for (elevated dive bar perhaps but that's a vibe I like) but the food, service and drinks are always great. This place had great food and good prices, but they didn't have the ingredients to make an old-fashioned, which was a little disappointing, but after we got the food and looked out back and saw how cool the patio was with the heaters and the TVs and all the space we would definitely go back But the Philly cheesecake that I got was one that had cherry peppers in it, and I didn't know that cherry peppers were spicy. I've forgotten his name but he had a very smooth voice. Neither one of us was particularly fond of our drink and he offered to replace it but we insisted we were alright. The wings were the right choice, the barbalo(bbq/buffalo) was sweet and tangy while the leg humper(peach/habanero) was just the perfect level and flavor of spicy. JackBeagle's doesn't look like all that from the outside and is indeed mostly a dive bar on the inside but in my opinion the Jacks (Billy Jack's Shack and JackBeagle's, not related but located across from one another) have some of the best food in all of NoDa (unless you wanna dish out money on a big bill for nice Italian). The beer and food is all reasonably priced and so good. The cheesesteaks are my favorite, the mac and cheese is raved about, and this is a well kept secret- but they serve brunch here. The back area often have live bands, and when it's crowded people can expand to sit/stand upstairs on the neighboring building. I'd recommend the Buffalo, however it was not the best one I've ever had. The Buffalo sauce and chicken quality was great. Only pitfall for this visit is that I wasn't informed of the additional cost of subbing out the bread for a wrap until I read my receipt before paying. Such a fun little spot in NoDa! We are from out of town and were drawn in by the people who were already enjoying the restaurant. So glad we found this place! So affordable, great food and service! We came during their brunch hours (image of menu included) and got the Waco Eggs Benedict. They offer single mimosas for $4 and double for $8 which is a great deal! We loved the French toast as well! Our server, Rivera, was fun and relaxed. Overall the experience was chill and you could tell the locals love this place. There is a stage out back so I'm guessing they have live music sometimes. ALL My back is to the patio door then I get a full cloud of smoke and cold air at my back it's mad uncomfortable I call our server and ask if it was nonsmoking just to double check right And he's like yup nonsmoking but they're smoking outside And I ask right in front of the door and he's yeah (like and so what) He continues on: we got the door open tho (suggesting that the door was ventilation) BUT FOR WHO? I didn't even ask him to comp the whole meal AND HE SHOWED HIS ASS telling me "you don't have to eat here and no I'm not discounting your food cause the wind is Mother Nature not my fault" I'm not for arguing with fools so I came outside while awaiting assistance ... cause at this point I don't want to have to pay full price bc The servers scurried back into the bar displaying guilt THEN THESE _____ I'm standing on the patio and I smell smoke again... this time more AND it's THE Ken mgr and a Karen smoking and laughing hurling profanity and racial slurs at me while my son was seated with me outside No regard for me No regard for my son No regard for themselves Meanwhile one is saying "we don't want you here messing up our neighborhood" For clarity, I live here in NoDa. Honestly, awful. Place is nasty, quite dirty. Me and my spouse stopped in to grab a beer and a bite to eat, thinking this place would at least be tolerable. Our server.... Serves us a drink, everything was ok so far. We were getting the feel of the place slowly. After we drank our first round. We waited 10 minutes with empty drinks before she even found us, she takes the food order and try's walking off when we have no drinks. My spouse after being served asked for another ranch and a coke because she still didn't receive a drink. So out of the total 45 minutes we had for lunch, we spent 35 minutes of it without a drink, and no server to be found. Total dogshit service 0/100. The Beagle Bowl was a breakfast bowl full with sausage, taters, eggs etc. we got lucky and they started serving lunch so we tried the Veggie Cheesesteak which was pretty tasty. JackBeagles is quintessential NODA to its core! They have been around forever and have long been one of my go to places when visiting NODA. There are lots of great restaurants in the area with just about every cuisine you could imagine but this is the place for classic bar cuisine done right! All of their burgers are cooked to order and are simply fantastic! Their cheesesteaks are definitely righteous too. I would be amiss if I didn't mention their hotdogs which are some of the best in town! I suggest getting them "ripped" for the true experience. First of all, this is located in Noda so parking can be tricky, of course. Thank goodness my friend lives in Noda, so walking it was. The place looked packed, but thankfully, it was their outside patio that was bursting with vibes as they had seats, a bar, and I believe live entertainment. Sat down immediately, and we're greeted by our server, John, who was amazing. He was super attentive and gave excellent recommendations, especially when it came to drinks.
