We went on a Sunday afternoon for my friends birthday and there was a football game on and we were greeted SO warmly by the staff and patrons both! What a fun atmosphere!!

Hattie is a neighborhood gem! Unpretentious, welcoming to all, and great drink special. They have lots of fun nights: bingo, karaoke, live bands, games , and community fundraisers. Friendly staff and cool people! It's a great place for a drink after work! They have an entire wall of gaming systems as well! People love to play them!

Who knew they had a great patio with a bunch of picnic tables!

Well, this is certainly a dive bar, that's for sure. Hattie's is filled with a diverse group of people, which I absolutely love. I've never met anyone there that wasn't friendly...both regulars, newcomers and bartenders. They have a great selection of beers, too! Since it's not too packed, it's usually quick to get a drink at the bar. Yeah! The outside patio is such a gem. They have a bunch of picnic tables out there, so I definitely recommend grabbing one of the games inside and playing outside when the weather is nice. Inside is a little dingy. I've been here a few times when the band was playing. The acoustics aren't great and it just ends up sounding loud (so it's hard to enjoy the music at a normal level). The bathrooms never seem very clean and on Saturday, the door lock wasn't working on one of the bathrooms. I would say there are better places to have a beer, but if you're in the Plaza Midwood area and just want to chill and have a cold one, you can't go wrong with Hattie's.

It was a dark and stormy night. And I'm not kidding. The nearest place to get dry and have a drink was Hattie's. Yelpers have raved about this dive bar, so I needed to see for myself. Definitely a dive bar with a Capital "D" - but that's not a bad thing. A live band was rocking out with "It's All about that Base". Lots of little details here and there and of course the mural is awesome! Whoa! Look at that beer selection - not only do they have 20 plus taps, but their canned and bottled selection is astounding - everything from Fullsteam Summer Basil to Natty Bo! A little something for everyone!! Apparently they also put the "C" in Cold Chillin'.

A classic hipster bar in NoDa/Plaza Midwood bridging the gap between the between the two neighborhoods, and an incredible beer list. If there, ask for Monica, one of the best bartenders in Charlotte! Hopefully you can catch one of their awesome Alt rock shows!

I've been here for about 3 minutes and can already tell I like it here. Super friendly welcome from the front door to the bartender. Awesome beer selection.

    The patio!

Small dive bar with character! Old school video games, daily drink specials, and nice bartenders. Check it out!

It was fairly busy, but we walked in without a reservation and were seated indoors right away. We ordered two Guinnesses, the Mussels appetizer (with garlic bread), and split the Fish & Chips plate. Everything was incredible. The cod was perfectly beer-battered, the hand-cut chips were crisp and hearty, and the green peas and tartar sauce rounded it out beautifully. The mussels and garlic bread were also delicious (even ordered a second garlic bread). I would 100% order both dishes again. Our server was also friendly, attentive, and gave honest, helpful recommendations. Prices felt fair for the quality, and the overall experience hit all the right notes. We've already recommended it to friends and will definitely be back. A cozy, welcoming spot for comfort food done right.

There's plenty of outdoor seating available as well but it was pretty hot that afternoon. We started with a couple large pretzels and a variety of beers- I just had a prosecco though, so if beer isn't your thing, there are alternative options. For my entree, I ordered the pastrami sandwich and Mac and cheese. Other common orders included the salmon, donner bowl, schnitzel and sausage sampler. I've come as a Charlotte newbie, then became the one showing the place off to visitors, and in between I'll show up for a trivia night here and there. Staff here is my personal favorite- everyone is kind but not pushy or bothersome. They know the bar and the food menu.. I have asked what to order and fully gone along with their suggestions. Zero regrets. This is also a wonderful place to take friends or family visiting from out of town. My parents moved down here with me; just across the border in SC, but absolutely loved it here when I took them. They're boring and picky, and Wooden Robot somehow was exactly what they were looking for.

I feel even if it's packed, there's still ample room to not feel like sardines. The food: delicious in all of their offerings. Fries were perfectly crisp and not oily. The cans we bought started leaking, we went back and asked if the leakage was a problem. They asked a few questions and profusely apologized and gave us two six packs of their beer with no charge.
