Jackie Davis Beauty is a one of a kind experience. The salon is pristine and private! It's like an oasis, without hearing five other hair dryers going off, or smelling someone else's treatment. It's so pleasant and relaxing. Jackie is also one of a kind. She is seriously a master at turning drab to fab. I could not believe the difference from when I showed up to when I left. My hair was all frizz, fly aways and roots. She not only cleaned it up, but helped bring some health and life to these locks that have taken a beating from harsh LA water. Jackie is extraordinary. I drive 30 miles to her shop (I don't live in the valley) because I just can't quit her. She is a true ARTIST and gifts everyone the feeling of a full makeover, even if it's a simple trim or blowout. Her mastery with hair color is mind-blowing. She creates or find the sweet spot with both color and cut that makes it look effortless. The best part is, I am TERRIBLE with hair but when she does mine, it actually looks good after I wash it. EACH time. She is excellent with make-up as well. She takes one's assets and really enhances them, and again, it looks effortless. I've gone to her for at least a decade (minus that one year when I tried to find someone just as good near my house, and failed to find anyone half as good near me). For years, I had my hair cut by the same barber, John at Angelo's. He did a really good job and when I went in, after the usual greetings and initial banter, John would ask me, "So, Jack, the usual?" and I would say "Yes" and he cut my hair the same way, more or less, just the way I liked it for 20 years. When John retired, I thought about trying one of the other barbers in the same shop - all good barbers, and I know them all by name. But, my wife suggested that I give Jackie a try when she was over at Strands. I went in, feeling a little weird being the only guy there, but Jackie didn't have me wait hardly at all, she got me situated, asked how I liked my haircut. I told her to do whatever she thought looked good, and she went to work. The most unbelievable thing happened next, and this is no exaggeration. She gave me one of the best haircuts I ever had in about 20 minutes. I was used to sitting in the chair for a good 45 minutes to almost an hour before! When I went back the 2nd time, we said hello, I sat down, and she cut my hair the exact same way. She didn't even ask me if I wanted "my usual". She knew! Now that she's in her own shop, It's even better. I feel less self conscious about being the only guy there (besides Jackie, I'm the only person there!) and it's really a pleasure to have her cut my hair.
