Maybe they only take reservations by phone, even though it is 2026, but it should say something to that effect on their website. It was evident they preferred reservations and said they were packed but there were plenty of tables unseated. The table we were seated at, was very wobbly. Which is an annoying thing that is easily fixed. I will say that the bread and the marinated saladswere both very good and our baked potatoes were perfect but that's where it ends. My son got the filet and my husband got the ribeye. They both ordered medium rare but both were well done and chewy. We did not say anything to our waitress or complain bc we are just not those kind people but it was disappointing to say the least. A steak place that has been in business for as long a they have should have perfected their steaks, I got the grilled chicken and when it came, I thought they had brought me fried chicken by mistake. I was expecting a grilled chicken breast (my mistake for assuming) but it was 4 pieces of what appeared to be smoked chicken on the bone. They were pretty tasty but felt like something I would get at a bbq restaurant, not a steak house. Needless to say, we will not be back.

Looks like a hole in the wall place, which gave me hope that the pho would taste authentic but I was severely mistaken. Also, because of the no AC they had the doors open which led to flies landing on our food and water as well as being splashed by the pouring rain coming into the restaurant. Our waitress did not pay much attention to us and when asking her the difference between some of the pho options she said "I don't know because there's nothing on the menu that I like" LOL she also complained that the owner was "cheap" when explaining that they don't have an ice machine and she would have to crush up ice in a towel using a hammer. Anyway, my husband and I were willing to overlook all of this if the Pho was worth it. We both got the Pho Bo (beef noodle soup) and he got his spicy. If you've never had authentic pho, you might like it. However, if you've have good Pho before, you will most likely not enjoy this. It was the blandest greasiest broth I had ever had. It didn't even taste like pho. At all the pho restaurants I've ever been to, they provide extra garnishes like lime, jalapeño, bean sprouts etc. We did not get anything other than the limes I asked for my water because they didn't have lemon. They didn't even give us spoons for the broth, I had to ask for them. Both my husband and I ate less than half of our small bowls before we decided to just leave. It's a shame because the owner is incredibly friendly but we will not be returning.

The business has a small parking lot it shares with other businesses, there is also a small gravel lot beside it that you can park at. If you go at a busy time, parking can be a chore. There is also bar seating and you can sit at a high top that borders the brew stations. It took a few minutes for us to meet our server who took our drink orders. Soda for her and non-alcoholic IPA for me. It took our server a while to bring our drinks and she forgot my IPA so she had to go find it. Once we had our beverages, we ordered our food. We started with the bacon wrapped blue cheese dates - the dates are served on tooth picks and looked great but the blue cheese overpowered the flavor of everything else. My wife ordered the special of the day (not on everyday menu) which was shrimp tacos with a black bean pineapple salsa and house made chips and fries. I opted for the house burger with cheddar cooked medium and chips and fries. It took a long time for our food to come out and after observing our server chatting it with a table of her friends who were behind us, I am pretty sure she may have forgot to order it in a timely manner. When our food came it was auctioned off to us by another team member (no server to be found). My wife's tacos were overstuffed and fell apart. I tried one and the fried shrimp tasted really fishy to me, not like fried shrimp is supposed to taste. My burger was okay but nothing special. As others have mentioned, all these Pier Rd shops are touristy. I didn't spend long in any of them…read morebecause I have no need for extra stuff around my house. But I am always on the lookout for food staples I can take home for myself, and friends. The origin of the preserves here wasn't explained by the staff, nor any signs I saw (maybe on the website?), but it appears to be the kind of thing that local farm markets do near where I live, which is some local plant makes the preserves with local produce, and then the private stores get to slap their name on it. But I'm guessing/hoping it's still local to GA, and that was all I was after. I went for the peach-Vidalia jam, and some key lime hot sauce, figuring they'd be locally grown enough. I learned from the associate there that all Vidalia onions MUST be grown in Vidalia, GA in order to be called Vidalia onions. Despite working at a produce store in high school, I never knew that. I honestly thought the Vidalia branding was just the strain/type of onion, which could theoretically be grown anywhere. But no, like Rob Lowe informed us in Wayne's World (champagne must come from the Champagne region in France, otherwise it's just a sparkling wine), Vidalias must come from a specific region in Vidalia, GA in order to be REAL Vidalia onions. Learn something new every day! I also liked the gurgle pot fish pitchers they sold. Very colorful and festive. I was not told the origin of these pitchers, but when I got home, I saw a lot on ebay that were made in Bermuda, and apparently other Google searches claim that distinctive pitcher hails from Bermuda. Anyway, they have some neat stuff here, I hear samples are always available when we're not in the middle of a pandemic, so yum! And another useful tip: if you have a hankering for ice cream, my best advice is not to stop at the obvious Sweets Shoppe (with two Ps and an E) there on Pier Rd, but to head into the Commissary and grab novelty ice creams out of the freezer chest. They're $2 each, but compared to $4/scoop for grocery store quality at the Sweets Shoppe, I definitely got a better value on the Commissary's offerings for my ice-cream-aholic toddler. Like all of the shops on Pier Rd, the Commissary is also a historic building. Historically, it was the general store for workers on Jekyll, and I take that to mean servants who staffed the hotel and villas, back in the Gilded Age. Hopefully, they didn't get bilked as many a company store was known to do in that era. While all this info was available on the internet, and there are a few didactic panels throughout the Historic District, it would be more helpful if they had some kind of panel at every building, because really, every building has a story. If you take a tour from the Mosaic Museum, much more is probably explained, and I get it if they want to make money on that, to support the organization. But that said, I recommend scanning the website before heading to this area, so you have an idea what you're visiting.
