A long time member of the Brunswick community that serves lunch and dinner. The decor is nautical, but they had Halloween decorations up today. Our waitress, Madison was quick, helpful and very nice. We enjoyed her. I got a grilled basa fish sandwich with lettuce and tomato . You have a choice of fried, grilled or blackened. You choose your side from onion rings, fries or sweet potato fries. I got the onion rings and they were great. My friend got a grilled shrimp po boy sandwich and said it was good. There was plenty of good sweet tea and we didn't have to ask for a refill. Yum yum. Great local spot. And good food. Stop here while in area and thought was worth a try since noticed lots of trucks in parking lot ( usually a sign it is a good place). Had a local vibe to it. We have dined here several times before and enjoyed the food. The decor, and I use the word loosely, is in need of major upgrade. Windows not clean, chairs with ripped padding, floor appears not to have been cleaned for some time. Well wife wanted to have their scallops, which she had previously. This visit, not on the menu. Waitress explained that they no longer offer them because they were too expensive to get. That my be the case, but it just gives you the impression that along with appearance, oh and BTW, only 2 servers for the whole restaurant, they refuse to invest in their business. Jinrights was a family favorite decades ago when we lived in the area. Wanted to try it again but was concerned by some bad reviews. Our meals were great. Could not ask for a better combination of food quality, service and price. We were there at lunch. I got the blackened flounder plate with sweet potato and green beans. The fish was cooked perfectly. I got a good sized filet. The sweet potato was also nice size and good. The beans were slightly salty. My wife got fried shrimp. Had a dozen medium size shrimp, and very good. Her baked potato was also good. The slaw was a little too mayonnaisy. Overalls a very good meal, and each was under $10. How can you beat that? read more

Food was wonderful, I truly cannot say enough good things about it. We had the shrimp basket, and Basa fish basket. Best fish I've ever had. It was so tender, and flavorful. I like that they keep the cocktail sauce and tartar sauce on the table. Don't get me started about the ranch, I could rant all day about how wonderful it is. Very cozy atmosphere, food made me feel right at home. Our server Elaine, was so very attentive and kind. Also the other lady there, Toni I think was her name. I guess I am a glutton for punishment. I went back to see if anything changed. It had, it had gotten worse. Jinright's sits geographically 4 miles from a dozen shrimp boats that catch the best shrimp in the world but Jinright's uses frozen imported small shrimp that has been split and curl up. The fish is also frozen. The oysters range from large to almost non existent is a ball of breading. All this is just plain nasty and a rip off because with tip I spent $40 in there and froze my ass. The food cooled down quickly because the plate was cold along with the restaurant was cold. Anyone here bragging on this place does not know what they are talking about. read more

This was our first time here. When you walk in you realize you don't come here if you want atmosphere. Nice quaint restaurant. We were seated promptly by Harley. Then our server came over and introduced herself to us, her name is Maddie. We ordered drinks and then split an appetizer. Then for the entree they had a fish on the menu and it was called Basa. I questioned Maddie about it and she highly recommended it. So I took a gamble and got it because I love to try different fish. I got the dish and I couldn't believe how much fish I got. Against my better judgment, I placed an order from this spot. To be clear, my Mother suggested them and her appetite had been so poor lately - that I was excited to try to bring her anything she thought she might enjoy. I ordered fried flounder for her and broiled flounder for myself. I was TRYING to be healthy, so I opted for green beans and baked potato as my side. When I arrived, everything looked okay - so I drove back to Darien. Once I got home and attempted to eat my food - I discovered my fish was undercooked and my baked potato was too. :( I called the restaurant and they apologized and explained that they were about to close and asked me to come back tomorrow. I explained that I was all the way in Darien so tomorrow was fine. The next day day - technically night - I called to let them know I was coming to pick up my replacement order and they told me they were closing early 'because it was slow.' I didn't realize they did this - and was pretty irritated. The person I spoke to told me come tomorrow instead. The next day, I drove over and arrived at 8:30pm only to discover the doors were locked. There was a woman counting money at the register and I held my to go container up - to get her attention and let her know that I wasn't a 'new' customer. She gestured for me to hold on and a few seconds, a waitress came to the door. The waitress, Morgan, explained that they had closed early. Morgan stood outside the car and listened to me while I sat in the driver's seat - being embarrassingly emotional about personal worries. She shared some of her stories. When I expressed my frustration and explained that this was the second time this had happened - she was extremely apologetic and asked IF the fryers were still on - would I be okay with fried flounder and french fries as a replacement. She said she would hate for me to just leave without any sort of meal, and couldn't promise anything - but she would check. I said ok. A few minutes later, she returned and explained to me, sadly, that the fryers had already been shut off. She had me write my name and number on the back of my receipt and asked if she could "keep my food so that she could show it to the cook." I said ok - because I had no reason to believe that this replacement meal would become a problem. A few days later, after not hearing from anyone - I called the restaurant - and I was IN THE PARKING LOT - AROUND 2pm this time - wasn't taking any chances - and explained what had happened. I talked to an employee named Marissa. She explained that the person that could authorize a replacement meal or refund was a person named Jennifer Lord and she'd gone for the day. I tried back another day - once again - was told Ms. Lord was gone for the day - when asked - the staff member said Ms. Lord typically leaves by 2pm. I admit - I did not pursue this diligently - because my Mother was hospitalized, but I see Jinright's each time I leave the hospital (from the Hwy 17 intersection) - so one day - when things were looking up, I decided to call again and lo and behold - I finally get Ms. Lord. First - when I say I'm happy to finally be able to reach her - she interrupts and snaps, loudly and defensively, that she 'heard about me' and that she'd attempted to call me multiple times. Then she says that I should have checked my food before I left. I explain to her my order was accurate - just undercooked. Then she says I didn't call or come back within 24 hours. I explain that I did (see above). Then she says she heard I came up there and caused a scene. I explain that I never even entered the restaurant that night (see above). Then she says that she was told that I wanted to return my food because I didn't like it and I asked for something else. I explained that I didn't - but I was offered fried flounder and was willing to accept it (see above). She then tells me that she needs to speak to Morgan and Marissa again to verify "my story" - because she was told a completely different version of events. She tells me she will call me back within the next few days. It's been over two months and, of course, I never heard back. It's honestly not even about the money - it's the principal. If you want subpar food and abysmal customer service, go here - otherwise - avoid it like the plague. read more

Went her for lunch with friends. They said it was good and it was not a lie. The service was excellent, our server was excellent. The food was wonderful, and plenty of it. The food was sub-par and the price was way too expensive for what was served. Fried corn nuggets were $8.00 for 6, and they were the size of a quarter. Warning: Slow Service. My only con dining here. Our first night staying in the Brunswick/Jekyll Island area and wanted to try local seafood. I was drawn to the sign and building and not to mention it was hopping! Was seated right away. However, the server took 10 minutes to get our drink order. I was hoping the wait would be worth it. I ordered the Grilled Salmon for $14.00 which was grilled and you choose two items. I got the baked potato and salad ($2.50 extra). I ordered the salmon medium well. My mom ordered a sampler platter (forgot the name) for $20.00+ which includes two sides (she got fries and salad). Her platter was fried flounder, scallops, clams, oyster, stuffed crab cake, hush puppies, and shrimp. When we got our meal... OMG!!!! SOOO awesome!! My salmon was cooked the way I wanted (hot/medium well) and not heavily seasoned. Salad was not cheap iceberg, they served fresh romaine leaf lettuce. My mom's platter was freakin huge!! She needed a to go box to take the rest. I swear it could've fed two people. All was delicious. Definitely not boxed freezer seafood. Again the server was very apologetic. The refills on water did not come quick and had to wait. I saw the server and she was working her tail off. She was working really hard. We are from out of town, we have family that live close by . We don't visit often , but Jinrights has always been a favorite of my husbands so we always go when we are in town. He was looking forward to our visit on June 15 2024. Unfortunately it was very disappointing . The hostess seemed very frustrated because people were checking out and us and another couple were coming in. It was very obvious she felt overworked and pretty much threw our menus on the table and in a backward glance told us some one would be with us. So, thinking that she was just busy we overlooked it.Then our waitress came... she seemed overworked as well and wasn't really friendly, I asked for tea and a water , never got the water, but that was ok, she never asked if we wanted appetizers ( I was going to get the pickles) but at this point I didn't want to bother her with that. So we ordered the large plate for two for $60 , I also had a take home order for my family at home and wanted to order it a little later but she stood there til I gave her that order at the same time..so..,by now I was irritated. It wasnt slam packed but the two that waited on us definitely had issues . Another lady waiting on tables seemed overworked as well but was much nicer to her tables.So here comes the food, sigh,the 60 dollar meal was all packed on one plate falling off the sides, the French fries were underneath everything and were a soggy mess, the bowl for the Cole slaw was also on the plate sitting on top of a stuffed crab.The food was overcooked but edible. The waitress said something about " get started" that kinda made us feel bad about ordering so much,.While we were eating the waitress was talking to another table she obviously knew about the " island" people and wondering when they were coming . When we finally got tea refills ,much later than we needed them,in about 3 minutes she brought us the take home food and it was obvious she was ready for us to leave.. She never asked us if we needed anything until right before time to go.So we left . To the owner, my suggestion is get more help and give those two a vacation, to our waitress hopefully this will explain the tip you got.To the hostess , geez , your first impression really set the mood for our visit.... I've seen this place change so much, but the food and staff have always been the same! A trip to St Simons or Jekyll just isn't complete without a dinner here!
