One of the best places we visited while on the island. We tried to go a few weeks ago when we were in town, but they were so busy and there was zero parking. So we made a second trip and weren't disappointed! The pretzel charcuterie board was absolutely fantastic! I loved everything about it. Especially the pretzel with the beer cheese. My husband had a pork chop sandwich and said it was delicious. You certainly get a lot of food for your money. Matt was a beast behind the bar. We were absolutely amazed at how quickly he was making multiple drinks and getting beer from the taps. He gets five stars alone! He was very personable and funny. Stopped in for dinner with my wife at this local brewery. The business is located close to the pier but not in the pier area. The business has a small parking lot it shares with other businesses, there is also a small gravel lot beside it that you can park at. If you go at a busy time, parking can be a chore. Upon arrival, the business was busy with both inside and outside seating filled but we were seated immediately at a table with both bench and chair seating that shared the bench with other tables. There is also bar seating and you can sit at a high top that borders the brew stations. It took a few minutes for us to meet our server who took our drink orders. Soda for her and non-alcoholic IPA for me. It took our server a while to bring our drinks and she forgot my IPA so she had to go find it. Once we had our beverages, we ordered our food. We started with the bacon wrapped blue cheese dates - the dates are served on tooth picks and looked great but the blue cheese overpowered the flavor of everything else. My wife ordered the special of the day (not on everyday menu) which was shrimp tacos with a black bean pineapple salsa and house made chips and fries. I opted for the house burger with cheddar cooked medium and chips and fries. It took a long time for our food to come out and after observing our server chatting it with a table of her friends who were behind us, I am pretty sure she may have forgot to order it in a timely manner. When our food came it was auctioned off to us by another team member (no server to be found). My wife's tacos were overstuffed and fell apart. I tried one and the fried shrimp tasted really fishy to me, not like fried shrimp is supposed to taste. My burger was okay but nothing special. My friends and I stopped in at Barrier Island Brewing while we were visit St. Simon's. The first that struck me was that it had much more of restaurant style vibe than a brewery vibe. Nothing wrong with this, it just caught me a little off guard. They boast an excellent selection of craft beer as well as a really fancy cocktail/mix drink list. The service was rock solid and didn't falter when it started getting busier. We ended up eating there too and consensus on the food was "thumbs up". It's a nice a place to hang out get and drink and eat some food. I'd be happy to dip back in the next time I'm in the area. read more

Wow, my family and I were very impressed at Barrier Island's ability to keep pace with the 4th of July crowds on the island! The 5 of us pulled up on a busy Friday evening and put our names on the waitlist. As we found a spot to wait, a server immediately approached to offer us drink service while we waited. We stop every time we visit family here, this is our second trip this week. Here is what we liked. *Arrived around 7:30 and had a large group of 9. Wasn't a long wait for a table. Had some cocktails at the bar. * The coconut margarita was a hit with the group. * The pork chop sandwich was good sized and had a moist and flavorful taste. *The chicken caprese (sp?) sandwich was good sized and cooked crisp and was quite good. *Always a good selection of in house beers. *The blackened fish tacos had three, more than enough with the fries. Great spot to enjoy a beer. Loved chilling on the back deck watching sports with a live band playing. I had not one, not two but three people asked if my dog needed water. I love how attentive this place was to our needs. They really pride themselves on creating a good atmosphere. I got a flight and the beer was good. Went here for happy hour on a recommendation from someone. The service was excellent. The place has a real "everyone's a local" feel. We got drinks and the stuffed pretzels charcuterie. Whoever came up with the idea of putting charcuterie on a large pretzel should be given a raise immediately. It comes with two sides. One is mildly spicy mustard and the other is warm cheese. We popped in just for drinks in a beautiful sunny afternoon. We sat outside and others were sitting outside under the covered tent which is great for any kind of weather issue. I had a shaken Piña colada and my gf had the Mexican mule. The pina colada was tasty and refreshing and the Mexican mule was cold and tasty. Our server was super helpful and friendly. We arrived at Barrier Island Brewing super hungry and lucky for us, we were staying right next door at Hotel Simone so the commute was easy :) I had already been tipped off by a friend that they had awesome beers and food and boy was he right! The staff was so nice and dog-friendly, they let us bring our pups while we enjoyed an awesome lunch! The first thing was to order a flight of beers so I could taste their great selection of beers. I went for the Blonde, Kolsch, Lager, and another Wheat type beer! All were so good and great for a lunchtime drink. Next came one of the most amazing stuffed pretzels we have ever ordered, it was full of meats, cheeses, pickled goodness, and of course hot cheese and mustard. We loved sharing it, as it was plenty to split. For the main, we ended up splitting the blackened fish tacos and those did not disappoint. Great portion to split for a late-day lunch. We absolutely loved eating here! So much so that my daughter and I wanted to eat here again the next night and did! What can I say when I like something I really like it! The first night I ate the flounder sandwich, Bob and my kiddo split the huge pretzel board. The board was gorgeous a delicious perfectly browned pretzel stuffed with meats, olives and cheeses yum! My flounder sandwich was phenomenal I had it fried with a Caesar salad & the dressing was perfect! And for dessert we just had to try the skillet cookie which was pretty top notch for sure gooey and tasty cookie with ice cream on top what's not to love? The icing on the cake was that I could buy a souvenir t-shirt and a really cute wine glass with their logo on them! Not sure why but I always love coming back with a cup/wine glass to remember my travels. Oh yeah, Bob tried the beer as well and liked it. I had the burger with blue cheese and medium rare. The burger was a little over cooked but was appropriately messy. I don't think anything needs salt but this burger really needed salt so that's saying a lot. There was none on the table. The sweet and sour brussels were recommended by the wait staff. They had good flavor and I could pick up the sweet and sour. The cook on the brussels was under, for roasted brussels I feel like when they're a little softer they're more unctuous. The beer, the Barrier Island Golden Ray IPA was delicious. Overall, the wait staff was helpful and attentive, the price and value were good. We ordered Brussels sprouts to share with a party of 3 which was perfect. The sprouts were the perfect crisp for us and the sweet and sour sauce paired so nicely! I ordered the chicken Caprese sandwich and it is served with pesto, grilled chicken, roasted sun dried tomatoes, and crispy onion straws. It was scrumptious. It was a large serving and each of us had leftovers. They surely don't skimp out on the French fries here! Def recommend checking out this cute little place while in town. Ob 6/21/25, I took my wife to lunch at this restaurant. We were lured in by the reasonable On-line menu pricing. Actual pricing turned out to be significantly higher. On-line menu advertised a super salad with steak for $19 and a beet salad with steak for $17. The salads were good and we enjoyed the ambiance, however, We were charged $28 for each salad!!!!
