I contacted Jack's looking for compression garments for after surgery and was promptly greeted by Tom who measured my arms and helped me. Unfortunately, I needed to return the garments, and since they were unused Tom was kind enough to allow me to do so. Instead of a refund, I purchased a few items that I will need post op, and have a store credit. I'll be back after surgery to get the garments needed. Jack's Medical Supply is a great resource. They carry all kinds of medical equipment and supplies and other things that you can't even imagine.. The new store is much roomier and easy to get around and the parking is pretty good at the shopping center.. there are a lot of disabled places available but sometimes you have to drive around to find One new enough so you can walk there!! Tom really knows his inventory and medical equipment and I've never had an experience where I couldn't buy the exact thing that I needed. The other staff members are very helpful as well. I always have a nice experience when I visit there and I am always happy to see Tom.! Great local friendly medical supply shop. Has hard-to-find orthopedic items and a huge selection of medically oriented merchandise. Prices are a bit high, but the orthopedic items they offer are not available anywhere else nearby. Because their building owner wanted to do something different with the property, a couple of years ago they moved from their downtown San Anselmo location to a convenient location with ample parking - at the Montecito Shopping center in San Rafael. Tom is the store manager and is the kindest, most compassionate person ever. He will go the extra mile to help you obtain whatever medical supply or brace or other medical item you might need. Tom, the manager at Jacks's Medical has helped and supported my husband and me in the kindest, most patient and knowledgeable ways as we have been attempting to find the best walker for me. He is also a master without my even asking, at adjusting my current walker to perform more safely. When my husband and I have been in Jack's in the Montecito Shopping Mall, I have been able to listen to and view Tom's beyond helpful responses to the many folks who have needed his assistance. I came to see if they had another DeRoyal Knee Sleeve as my old one needed replacing. James helped me look and they did not have my particular knee sleeve in stock. I picked up their last bottle of Debrox ear wax removal (I'd already gone to 2 other stores and they were out) and then I went to pay. I also asked James, "What do I do now regarding my knee sleeve?" Before I knew it, James shared he'd found it online for me and did I want to purchase it? And I replied, "Absolutely!" I was stunned. NO ONE in the retail business has ever gone online and look up my product for me for something I couldn't find. (I'm 82 years old). BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!! A first time visit (and last). I'm a teacher and had to find a substitute to get to their establishment on time. I went there to get a compression sleeve due to being diagnosed two days earlier for Lymphedema, due to cancer lymph node removal. It's a life altering disease, that there is no cure for. You can imagine how bummed out I was. I was looking forward to some guidance and compassion. Instead , I was greeted by an unknowledgeable, uncaring, unprofessional store owner, that showed no sign of empathy. This establishment was round down, empty, and absolutely filthy. I actually thought my very reputable PT gave me the wrong address. Unfortunately, that was not the case. Jack's is the ONLY medical supply store in Marin, however, the owner who works the counter can be condescending and rude. When asked if he could get more of a certain supply he answers, "I don't know". And not politely, either. When I asked oh he could check and let me know he didn't respond!!! Sold me a universal nonreturnable toilet riser that they assured me would fit any " regular" oval or round toilet. Surprise!, it did not fit a brand new regular toilet. The slope of the rim did not fit the clamp. Instead of taking the clerks word I was expected to take it out of the box in the store, measure it with a protractor, go home and compare it to the rim of the toilet, go back to the store and try something else. They manager said there was " miscommunication ", I say I was lied to. (Hey Donald T. I found a replacement for Sarah!) I wanted to support a local store vs the internet, even willing to pay $ 20.00 more than Amazon charges for the same product ($ 60.00). Stonewalled In January, Jack's changed its billing system and with it account numbers. My January ending balance in my old account was different than the February opening balance in my new account. I wrote and called them numerous times trying to get an explanation for the difference. It is now the end of August and I am giving up and have paid them the full balance. They have not been responsive and have stonewalled me throughout. Add my voice to the number of people who have called them out on Yelp for terrible service. read more

Am updating my pervious five star rating on Jack's. All the things I said before are true, however, after an incident today, I'm giving them one star as a pharmacy,but still a great place to buy hard to find orthopedic supplies. Had prescriptions sent to Jack's from doctor's office. Next day sent someone to pick them up. Main pharmacist, Indian guy, says "We don't have them" casual glance at computer. My friend who is picking them up gets the rude brush off from pharmacist. Friend calls me, I call doctor's office, give them a different closer corporate pharmacy to fill the order. There, the pharmacist informs friend, "this order has already been send to Jack's, we can't fill it." Corporate pharmacy calls Jack's, surprise, they have the order from the doctor. They send it over to big corporate pharmacy which I will use from now on. The guy at Jack's is rude and either incompetent, or flat out lied. If the pharmacist at Jack's can't even determine that they have received an order, how can you trust them to not give you the wrong drugs? read more

Jack's is a great local pharmacy that gives excellent service and seems to care about their customers. I've been here on a couple of occasions and have always been given great service even after asking numerous questions about various products. This is the kind of place you want to go to get your questions answered by experienced and knowledgeable pharmacists. I have rented a wheelchair and a 'scooter' from Jack's. I won't go there again. No effort on their part to make sure the equipment worked or fit the patient. I had to really push them to get the right equipment. ( The rubber tire on the wheel chair fell off the rim in our first use and I had to return to the store to get a better chair. In renting the scooter, they rented me an old piece of junk that was very unstable with poor brakes. I went back to the store , and one of the lower level clerks dug out a better, newer piece of equipment that works...but failed to adjust it to fit the height of the patient. ) The store looks old and run down, and it!s service matches...I thought I was in a third world country. I agree with all of the positive reviews below about Jack's. I'm going to add one additional great service they provide, which is that they are a formulary pharmacy. So if you need something special, like a pill turned into a flavored liquid that's palatable for a young child, or a chewable version of a medicine that CVS can't get for you even though a manufacturer produces it, Jack's is the place to go! If you have any special needs try Jack's first. They are a REAL pharmacy, not just a store that sells prescription drugs. If you have senior citizens in your life who might need some equipment to help them (walker, support hose, bathroom safety equipment, cane) this is the place to come. So grateful to have it in our community. And yes, support this local store. It's not at all glamorous, but don't worry about that. You'll get what you need at a fair price. read more

Jack's may be funky and run down, but really, who cares? When I go in to get my prescription it is ready, I don't have to wait an hour in line like at CVS. Sometimes at CVS they told me it was ready, I waited an hour and then they said "come back tomorrow." Well, I came back the next day and after waiting half an hour in line, you got it "come back tomorrow." The third day, after waiting in line, I finally got my prescription filled. Life is too short. I switched to Jacks, a small old time local drug store. PS, prices are usually competitive, but even if not, what is an hour of your time worth? read more

I took my client to Jack's to help her with getting a new walker. My client is an 80 something woman who is a little bit hard of hearing and frankly super picky about everything. I once took her shopping for shoes and she literally tried on every single possible shoe in the store. Then narrowed it down to 3 options and tried those 3 on two more times each before choosing one pair. She is sweet but a very high maintenance shopper. Julie was incredibly patient while helping my client. She showed her every model of walker, explained why what she wanted really wasn't possible. (it's a law of physics). It was busy in the store and Julie kept going back getting more walkers for her. She remained calm and patient while my client hemmed and hawed over each walker again and again. Julie was simultaneously helping other customers at the same time and never broke a sweat. In the end Julie was able to help her get the right walker. If I have other clients in need of walkers or other medical supplies I will take them to Jack's! read more

Giving Jacks 2 stars ONLY because I use them for the majority of my clients needs and they are the only game in town, however, I will never do personal business with them again. My co-worker offered to help me out when I was dealing with the death of my father and medical issues with my grandmother. She went to Jacks on my behalf and purchased so plastic be protectors for a twin bed. It seems like a simp,e item but cost over $50! I paid my co-worker back on the spot and thanked her. After ten days, we found that hospice delivered the same sheets free of charge to care for grandmother. I was thrilled with the news and promptly attempted to return the sheets WITH my original receipt and WITHIN the time frame allotted. The man behind the counter was rude and aggressive telling me that Jacks would only return the money if the original card was present. I explained the situation and was declined any accommodation. In fact, he told me to call up the cardholder and get her down there that day because the 2 week refund timeframe was up! It was a Saturday, I was not about to put out a helpful co-worker outside of office hours. I asked if the refund time frame could be extended a few days, he said "no", I asked if there was another option, he explained he could give me a store credit BUT only in the name of my co-worker, not me. Well that was just silly.....I told him my father had just passed away and I was doing my best to try and make things work and his only reply was "guess you just bought yourself new sheets"! What? I will never again go back to Jacks and think twice before I use then for one of my 150+ clients.......I am sure we can do better elsewhere......bye Jacks. read more

Very poor service and concern for our needs. My wife was looking for a foam wedge to raise her legs while sleeping. Clerks took no notice of us when we entered as they stared at computers. Finally, one noticed her and monosyllabically took her to the area where foam wedges are kept. He said something like: "Here they are, this is all we've got, look, through these," and left. Bad return policy. If you do not return an item within 30 days, they will not take it back. Also, the clerk was rude when I asked to return an item (still in packaging and with receipt) within 45 days of buying it, even though I did not know the store policy. read more

I am not sure what's wrong with all the negative reviewers here especially where are the support local businesses crowd you would rather go to CVS or some other chain with no personality? When I Injured my leg and needed to rent a wheelchair, the people at Marin General and at the orthopedic surgeons office all said "Go to Jack's." No thanks, never again. Though they do have equipment to rent, there was no effort made to consider my needs. I was given a chair that was easily six inches too narrow for me (I am clearly a wide load). In spite of the fact that I had both legs in "boots," I was not offered any leg rests. And they do not handle any insurance paperwork. All this with a "take it or leave it" attitude. When I got the chair home, it left black marks on our carpet. After a week of discomfort, I found a place that rents such equipment AND is on my insurance plan. This place, Ron Andrew's in Novato, fitted me with exactly what I needed...and with a smile. I took the other chair back to Jack's and was told - for the first time - that the first month is not pro-rated if equipment is returned before 30 days. People should know that there are alternatives to Jack's. They may be a friendly neighborhood pharmacy but they are not the best place to rent medical equipment. read more

Unfortunately , Jack's is the only place in Marin to get certain specialized medical, orthopedic supplies, etc. Sadly it is also staffed by some of the most unfriendly, non-smiling and often downright rude helpers I have ever had to deal with. (with one exception) . They certainly do not seem to understand what "customer service" is. They are very consistent when it comes to their irritable moods no matter what time it is or what day. So I'm here with my mom trying to get a brace for her and come to find out that the only person trained to do the medical and Medicare billing is at lunch so we have to wait an hour till she gets back. This is horrible customer service and I have no idea how they got Best of Marin with this kind of service. I would love nothing more to give the only medical supply in Marin that is a locally owned business high regards, however they are just rude and unorganized. On several occasions the employees have been just so rude and disgruntled; it is appalling. It really is the only place in the area where you can rent medical equipment. You know, its great that there are still a few independent pharmacies around these days. They are hard to come by. A place you can trust a pharmacist to talk to you about prescriptions, drug interactions, possible interactions with over-the-counter drugs, etc. At Jack's they take the time to know you, your meds, your health. I don't know where else I'd possibly go to get in-home health aids for my elderly mother and find such a great selection and personal explanation for what she needs and how the equipment should be used in the home. I am a health care provider myself, and I find it time-saving that Jack's even carries some medical uniforms, scrubs and the like I can pick up while I am there. I hope Jacks will always be there, it is a gem! I really prefer to avoid CVS, Rite Aide and Walrgreen's if I can. read more
