Our waitress was excellent, very friendly and attentive to a rather large party of guests to deal with. Had the boneless wings and they were fantastic. The guys had hamburgers and they said they were good. As for the wait, OMG it was forever! I even had to go out to the car and walk my dog for awhile. I have had it slow before, but this time they only had 1 waitress as I guess that they had to let some people go and she had all she could do to keep up and even though it was Memorial Day weekend, it wasn't packed. It was almost as if the waitress didn't turn the order in right away as the people after us got served before we were. (I have been a waitress before so I know it happens, but no apologies) Then she come back and tells our stepson that they were out of the pork tenderloin, so ended up getting the burger special in which the guys were to get a dessert with their meal. Tasted like the chicken you can get the grocery store. The chips and salsa were literally bought from Savealot down the road. Lol. I really try to keep things positive on here... However, there are exceptions to every rule. It should have been a sign that it was 630 on a Friday and there were only 3 tables full. Our waitress must have been having a bad day - strange vibe, and not super eager to be helpful. Positive - the coconut shrimp appetizer was BOMB! The pina colada sauce was thin, but tasty. Shrimp were big, and cooked perfectly. When asked about what the frozen slushy was, she said "I think it's vodka", but didn't ask or check to find the answer. Positive - the salad dressing was fresh and homemade! Ordered Prime Rib - big mistake. This was very obviously rib eye steaks that were set to bake in jus. Calling it prime rib is totally misleading. Cooked to medium (ordered rare-medrare). When we mentioned the cook, she asked, "should I have her put it back in?" Uh no, thank you. I'm not sure she understands how that works. No crust, no seasoning, no texture. Had I wanted braised roast, I might have considered making my own rather than paying $25 for it. Positive - The potato was tasty. So the website indicates that they have their Friday night prime rib dinner, but as of June 21, 2024 that is not true. We drove approximately 35 minutes through the beautiful Hocking Hills anticipating a delicious prime rib dinner. We arrived at the restaurant to find that they no longer have that special. I opted for a 16 ounce ribeye steak. I ordered it medium rare with sweet potato and onion rings. My husband ordered the fried fish dinner with french fries, extra crispy . When our meals arrived, my husband's fish was cooked nicely, but his french fries were far from being extra crispy, My 16 ounce rib steak was brown on the outside but rarer than rare on the inside. YUCK!! I was waiting for it to moo at me. I sent it back hoping it would return much closer to my medium rare expectation. It came back 10 minutes later still very, very rare,so I sent it back a second time nibbling on my sweet potato, which by was lukewarm and my onion rings, which were actually quite delicious. By the time my steak came back the third time it was well done! I have to say it was still incredibly tender and somewhat edible but my tummy was full from the decent sweet potato and onion ring so I could not eat the steak. Plus, I simply do not like steak well done. Our waitress was very accommodating and equally disappointed at the presentation of the steak, and she reduced our bill , charging me eight dollars for my onion rings and sweet potato. I feel strongly that a place advertised at a steakhouse should have a cook who knows how to prepare a steak medium rare before sending it out to the table, much less having two tries and then sending it out well done. My wife and I decided to try out this restaurant because of all the signs around Hocking Hills. I'll be honest, I try not to judge a book by it's cover (most small town diners don't look very appealing on the outside, but the food is usually amazing. This wasn't the case here. I ordered a sirloin steak with a sweet potato. My wife ordered the shrimp skewers. Her shrimp was a bit on the small side and a little salty. She did say that the amount of shrimp made up for the size. My steak was a bit chewy but huge. The flavor was good, but unfortunately didn't live up to my expectations from all the hype and being a "steakhouse". It was just a very good portion. The first thing I will say about this place is the waitress (didn't see any waiters), they were so nice and very good. Now, for the food, it good but not great. The prices I would say are fair for what you are getting. The 32oz draft is always a plus but the nachos I would not order, pretty basic and not all that great. The Jacks sirloin was good, my steak was cooked properly but my wife's was not. The steak also did not have a lot of flavor and would need steak sauce in my opinion. The baked potato was good and my wife had Mac n Cheese and fires which was once again decent. I will say the food came out quick and was very hot and our waitress was very good and kind. I believe this is my 7th review and 1st negative review. I believe in giving good restaurants a shout out so they are successful and I can visit them again. I have come across other experiences that were not pleasant but always given a restaurant the benefit of the doubt, until our family visited Jack's on May 4th. My son graduated from college on Saturday and wanted to go get a steak dinner to celebrate. We found Jack's on a local website but did not read many of the reviews, which was our mistake. We entered at 5PM and were promptly seated. Our waitress greeted us and took our drink orders and handed 5 of us 3 menus and told us we had to share. The menus were not very clean and were a sign of things to come. We ordered 2 appetizers as well. After 20 minutes our drinks came and the waitress also took our orders for dinner, which we were ready with quite some time ago. She did return 10 minutes later to inform 2 of us they are out of mashed potatoes for the evening. The bartender saw us looking for our waitress and asked if we needed anything, we asked for rolls when we arrived and asked her to check on our appetizers. She said she was afraid to go into the kitchen and ask any questions. After 1 hour of being in Jack's our appetizers finally came. The Mozzarella sticks were OK and the Fries with Bacon and Cheese were honestly the best fries I have had and the rest of the party agreed. Unfortunately that was the highlight of the dinner. My daughter was not feeling well being in this place and upset it was taking so long she went and sat in the car so we asked for her meal in a to-go box. After an hour and 35 minutes they brought our dinner. My steak was definitely not short on ounces, but one half was cooked and the other half raw. No seasoning was present at all, maybe why there were so many steak sauces on the table. The other meals were nothing to write about either. The remaining 4 of us were trying to make lemonade out of the lemons coming out of the kitchen but it just wasn't happening at Jack's. The staff knew we were very unhappy and just kept apologizing saying they were busy. I took the rest of my steak home to cook myself and season it. Since it was quite apparent they don't offer anything to guests but apologies I figured I should try to salvage the steak. The waitress did give my wife 2 $5 cards for our next visit but when we told her we were from out of town they said we could use with tonight's visit. About a 7% discount of what we paid. When the manager said we could not use them my wife told her the waitress said we could she said why didn't you just say so. When my wife told her we were there to celebrate our sons graduation she said "Honey everyone is graduating today" as an excuse for things being so bad. The wings we had to-go, my daughter ate 3 of them and said she didn't feel good later. We opened 2 wings and they were not cooked inside. Not sure who the cook is, but certainly they have no standards. Total time in Jack's was one hour and 55 minutes. Worst time ever in a restaurant. Jack's was packed. Maybe locals are used to the wait for food and horrible service or maybe they just all ordered the Cheese fries as mentioned earlier. Shame they don't visit places that deserve their business. Jack's should not be visited by new visitors, except maybe by the health department for the disgusting bathrooms and dirty silverware. read more

Disappointed in our food. Very pricy for the quality! I always support local businesses but our meal was $70.00 for two of us and it was not worth it. I could not cut my fish with my steak knife, it was so tough. Appetizer of fries with cheese sauce and a sprinkle of bacon was very expensive. We pay less for loaded fries and get more at most places we go. My husband's baked potato came out when he was almost finished eating. We visit the Hocking Hills area a lot during the summer and decided to give it a try, tried it, was not happy. I can mark it off my list and move on. read more

We went here for the last night of our camping trip in the Hocking Hills after our cooler was not so cool and all of our food seemed hazardous to our health. We ordered a variety of food and nothing was bad, but nothing was great. The place felt more like a church basement to me than a steak house and it was a little smokey and smelled like a burnt hamburger. The staff was very nice, and they were really quick too. These cooks do not know how to cook a steak my wife decided to order hers medium well but it came out medium which is actually what she wanted but if she would've ordered it medium it would've came out medium rare I ordered mine medium rare but it came out barely cooked at all and was mostly fat. Recently came here with my husband for our honeymoon dinner.... we had a really, really bad experience. Let me preface this with saying I was a waitress for 3 years and my husband worked fast food for 5+ years so we are kind and patient when it comes to service. Our server greeted us with saying it might be an hour wait on food. We were hungry and there's not many closeby options when it comes to dine-in with this part of Hocking Hills so we said that would be fine. It took about 20 minutes to get our order in, which I was somewhat annoyed, but she was busy, so I didn't make much of it. Husband and I were SUPER hungry after hiking all day so we both ordered an entree and two sides. Got my salad fine (it was 95% lettuce but the ranch tasted good). It did take a while for our food, but we were OK with it. However, when the food runner brought our food out to us we didn't get any fries. I only got a burger, no fries, and my husband also ordered fries and didn't get any. Before we could tell the food runner she ran off and we only got time to tell her that our lemonade was pretty much just water and we'd just take a coke instead. She brings back our coke 10 min later (we still haven't seen our server since ordering) and then we tell the runner we're missing ketchup, 2 orders of fries, and some other things. I would've obviously preferred to tell our server but she was nowhere to be seen, busy. Anyway, we get fries about 5 minutes later and they're... white. Like, you know when you go to mcdonald's and they're really busy and you get fries that were pulled several minutes before they're done? It was worse than that. And we never got my husband's fries. So I'm sitting there with a burger (no pickle even though it came with it?), undercooked fries, and still no sign of our server. On our honeymoon dinner I forgot to mention that I also saw the food runner angrily talking to our server at a POS system and heard most of what was said. "His order doesn't COME with fries and he asked for it!!!" But we still never got them. When our server finally came over she informed us that his food didn't come with fries and we basically said yeah, we wanted to add them on... but never mind. The server dropped our check off and left the extra fries on it so I had to again explain to please take it off. She also loudly talked to the table behind us for like 15 minutes about her personal life before checking to see if we were ready to pay...? So... yeah. 1 star. P.S. Google says the restaurant closes at 9:30 but the server was telling everyone it closes at 8:00. I would give this place 0 stars if I could. This was a huge disappointment. We saw flyers and ads everywhere for this steakhouse. We knew we were in trouble when we walked in and there was a sign which said seat yourselves and all of the seats were dirty. Our waitress was nice and cleaned off a table for us. We ordered and waited for our steaks...and waited...and waited... in fact, the restaurant cleared out all of its customers and we were still waiting...We waited almost an hour, then finally gave up and left.
