The server was nice and cordial. It was my husband's birthday. He ordered a grilled salmon and I ordered the Jack's mignon. The salmon was oven baked and dry as well as farm raised. There is a difference between farm raised and wild caught that can be easily tasted. It was disappointing but they did take it off the ticket. For the filet mignon, it was listed as bacon wrapped. The bacon was not crisp but rather dull in color. I ordered it with coleslaw which was a mistake. The sweet potato was served whole and uncut. I had to ask for the butter for it. The manager did apologize for the salmon not being to the satisfaction of being grilled and that the menu needed to changed to it being broiled. read more

I was in Bismarck to catch my flight home, fired up Yelp app and wanted a steakhouse. Jacks came with high recommendation. So my coworker and I drove over and weighted. After about 25 minutes wait, we were seat, our waitress came by, took our drink orders. I asked if they had an end cut (I wanted prime rib) waitress came back and said they have one left with my name in it, so I ordered it. Wow, the size was HUGE easily could have feed two people. I LOVE this place! My go-to is the Beef and Reef. It is hard to find Torsk these days and as a self-proclaimed "soup aficianado" I love the stuffed pepper soup. They offer strawberry butter with their complimentary dinner rolls. The decor is always great and festive for EVERY hoiday season. We've had birthday and office parties in their party room and service is always great. As a small business owner myself, I think Jack's definitely deserves more than 3 stars. read more

We were visiting from CA and we stop here every time we are home. We had mussels for an appetizer. For meals we had walleye beer battered and lemon pepper battered. Our guests had Torsk and chicken fried steak. All the food had great flavor and the portions were good size. Prices were reasonable. It is loud and busy but the atmosphere is good and family friendly. I would give it 4 stars but the service is something that definitely needs to improve. I always enjoy dinner at Jack's. The parking lot is always full and for good reason, the food is delicious. The lobster dinner is far more flavorful that what you would get at the Red Lobster, though you can't get a four pounder at Jack's. The rib steaks are prime and grilled to order ... nicely marbled and juicy. Likewise, the Prime Rib is all that and bursting with flavor. If there is a weak link at Jack's, it is the dinner salad. Just lettuce mix, dressing and croutons. Not an onion or tomato to be had. The staff is efficient and friendly. I enthusiastically recommend Jack's Steakhouse and Seafood. We have always had decent food and prompt service. Tonight was a miss on their part. Had our name on the list and we watched as the 4 ahead of us were seated and then groups after us. So sorry I have to let you know my burger was dry no juice at all hard to swallow. The wedges well they were ok, service was sub par, she was slow and asked us at the end how the food was. In short terms we left a $3 tip which was good. I hate leaving bad reviews but if I'm just glad I'm only put $18 and not $30 for the steak. I truly enjoyed this little gem. In town for a week of training and one of my classmates suggested Jacks. Three of us shared apps, mussels, calamari and artichoke dip. All prepared excellently, especially the mussels and parmesan. Then on to the main. I had the walleye in beer batter. It was larger than the plate, hot golden crisp breading and perfectly cooked fish. So good. Court had the steak and shrimp and Trav had the scallops. All of us were pleased. And the huge Long Island teas lubricated the evening very well, thank you. The place was very busy and hopping. The staff was friendly and efficient. The decor was charming, and clean. I like supporting local business so tonight it was Jacks. Ordered a chicken salad, stuffed mushrooms and fried shrimp with broccoli. What can I say? Jacks made a good grilled chicken salad. Mushrooms were way overloaded on cream cheese - pics below. Salt helped the actual tasteless mushroom when all the cream cheese was peeled off. Broccoli was so cold that I didn't attempt. Shrimp was thick but way to thick with batter and over fried. I'm from Tennessee so fried is good but dang. Overall, my least favorite restaurant in Bismarck in the 4 years I've been coming here. My friend and I came here for "two for one" steaks and wine (a Wednesday night special). I immediately noticed that there were not enough servers for the amount of customers- many tables (with and without customers still there) were covered with dirty dishes, glasses etc. I know the waitress was trying hard but it just doesn't make for a good atmosphere to sit there surrounded by dirty tables and long waits to order, pay the bill, and not getting checked on. The waitress explained they no longer do the wine special and so we asked for the wine list. She said it was too outdated so just told us what kinds of red wine they sell by the bottle. We asked for prices; she guessed and then came back to the table after looking them up...we ended up buying a bottle because the actual prices were much lower than the guessed prices. The sirloins and baked potatoes were good- cooked to order and delicious. The steak special includes a steak and baked potato. We were kind of surprised we didn't get the bread but oh well. Every weekend night that my dad insists we go to Texas Roadhouse, it's always packed and there's always a wait. At Jack's? Not so much. I dined here with a friend on a week night. We both ordered a soda and a burger. The burger was fantastic. The fries were good and the service was rather fast. However, I was kind of sticker-shocked at the prices. Our tab was $28 for two people. That's without tip. Kinda spendy for a local joint. I would revisit Jack's if I was in the mood for a good burger but it wouldn't be my first pick of a restaurant in Bismarck.
