Every time I go in there, which is not often, the staff is so rude, or mopey, as if you're bothering them! Prices are high also, only went in for a couple things. Train your staff to be appreciative of their customers who frequent your business! read more

Ok so I felt compelled to update this as the store has done a ton of renovation and changing as far as the quality of their options and number of options. I will not say that the pricing has been decreased but I have to acknowledge that the quality of food and the options have been significantly upgraded which I appreciate as it's literally around the corner. read more

will not shop here again after multiple experiences with the horrific woman behind the deli counter. She is unbearably rude to customers, is apparently always in a bad mood, and thinks that she knows everything. the first time I thought it was a bad day for her and gave her grace. this trip was the last straw. when speaking with the manager about the encounter he agreed that her behavior was unacceptable and sent a message to his boss which was nice but certainly not enough to bring me back to the store. she should be fired or kept in the back away from customers. read more

This is a difficult review to write, because my issues with Jack's Super Foodtown are not things they can really change. In fairness, I've only been here once, but it was enough to make me not want to return. To be clear, I had no problems with customer service, cleanliness, food quality, or anything else of that nature. The simple fact is that I've been going to other Foodtown locations for years, so I had high expectations when I saw a branch calling itself "Super Foodtown". Sadly, they fell far short of the mark in that regard. This is a small supermarket, with limited stock and limited selection. The aisles are very narrow, and part of the store seems to be cobbled together from another unit in the strip mall. The one thing I found disappointing that they can address is the pricing, which is considerably higher than other local chains. On a positive note, the parking is plentiful, which is a plus, but with other supermarket options a short drive away I can't think of any reason to recommend Jack's Super Foodtown... other than the parking. read more

Rancid cold cuts. On two separate occasions in February I got slimy possibly moldy boars head turkey. In addition, there were pieces of lettuce and other meats within the cold cuts. I chalked it up to a bad week, tossed them, and didn't go back for a week. I had no problem with buying ham the following week. Unfortunately I tried turkey again for a third time (not all the same type of turkey). When I opened the package the smell was so rancid that I thought I had spilt vinegar or cleaning solution on the package. There is obviously a larger issue with the department. I alerted the store to toss the meat I bought out of concern for public health. The store is convenient by location, I met one nice cashier, but employees seem sketch at best. They appear to have a busy produce / deli section (that's the scary part) but I'm done experimenting. Gross. read more

I love Jack's! I stop here all the time as it's very conveniently located and on my way home from work. I've never experienced the customer service issues like the other Yelp reviewers describe. It's a smaller store and they don't have as many options as the bigger supermarkets, but they have all the staples plus more! They also have the best store made macaroni salad I've ever tasted, as well as the freshest most delicious pineapple cuts. The store is always clean and neat and it's never too crowded. Definitely has an old school feel to it but in a very good way! read more

This store had a Big Game Giveaway for a TV set. On 1-18-20, I purchased groceries. On arriving home, I saw the entry for the Big Game Giveaway. There is no beginning or ending date on the entry as required by NJ law. When I went to "See courtesy desk for details", David Tomala, manager of Store 422 was sarcastic saying it was over and the entry box was by the door. It was my responsibility to know that and see that. His customer service skills are atrocious. He should be stocking the shelves, not managing. Note well that NJ Law requires opening and closing dates for entries, when and how prize will be awarded and when and how winners will be selected. None of this is reflected on the entry form. read more

This is a nice old-fashioned grocery store, not overwhelming or pretentious. They have excellent meats (although pricey, but worth it) -- and their manager, David, is a helpful and mannerly young man. On several occasions he has done his best to fulfill my various product requests. I always look forward to shopping at Foodtown. read more

Been coming to this Foodtown for a very long time because I work very close by. It's amazing how they continue to hold onto this one cashier who is always entirely rude. What's the point of having a store card when she yells that she doesn't need to scan it every time I walk up to her. I was inspired to post this review about Jack's food town after watching the latest Walking Dead episode last night. When you enter the store the staff act as if they are truly zombies after the apocalypse wandering around without a care for service. As others have stated in previous posts, the staff and management team are consistently bad. It never amazes me at the lack of service or engagement they give. They truly don't ever care. I only stop occasionally if there is a sale item to save a dollar or an extreme emergency so I know what I'm getting into from the service side. Each time is worse then the last time. Yesterday my wife and I were going down the aisle next to the guest service counter where 4 employees were gathered talking about the most offensive statements imaginable without a clue or care that there were customers around which is truly amazing. At check out another stellar employee at the register had her back to us drinking a rock star energy drink and eating pizza and was annoyed because we interrupted her feeding time to ring us up with the worst attitude ever. Jack, as the owner of that store get involved. There is a reason your store is always empty. People will pay your prices, but people will not deal with your managers and employees indifference all the time. We will not be coming back to this service wasteland again. read more

Jack's Foodtown has it all. They make great sandwiches. I shop here quite frequently cuz i work down the street from here. Most nights I will stop in grab some quick things like milk, bread, eggs and etc before I go home. They do have quite a good selections and PRICE is good too. Ohh at the back of the shop they do have a small sushi spot next to the deli, sushi chef makes fresh sushi everyday. I tried it, for the price it's good. read more

I am writing this review specifically for the catering abilities of this store's delicatessen. First of all, this is extremely convenient for me because I live nearby. That being said, I would drive at least 35 miles for the sandwich platters created by the staff, Nic, Liz and the gang. I worked in a deli for years as a teenager, which was the premier deli for its day, so I am experienced we could say. Back to "Jack's Foodtown deli....the rolls delicious, soft & fresh. The array of cold cuts sliced paper thin with amply amounts on each but not overdone. They provide condiments & salads are best in town! The presentation beautiful with garnishes that are edible! Crisp pickles as a lovely surprise accoutrement! I regret I did not snap a pic of the at least THREE times I have ordered from there. They provided the order with little notice & always on time. Regardless how busy the store is at the time, you get VIP treatment and help to the car. Alway friendly, professional and kind, these essential workers are TOP NOTCH! read more

Stopped here on my way home from work...I usually go to a different grocery market, but this one was on the way...I collected my groceries and proceeded to the check out...No self check-outs is a drag, as I inevitably get the clerk who puts the soda on top of the eggs...However I was checked out by an apathetic high school kid...Upon requesting my 'frequent purchaser' card I asked if I may use his...His snotty reply is that they aren't allowed to do that..."OK, then, does the store itself have a card?"...Another snotty reply..."May I sign up for the program?"..He handed me the application and insisted I take it home and mail it in...He wouldn't extend me the discount right there...After him arguing with me about this, I simply left my groceries on the counter and left... Jack's Foodtown's size is deceiving. They have a good selection, but they may only have one facing (of a product) vs. two or three at a larger store. This isn't a concern as they keep the shelves stocked. The deli has the best prices in the area. Even regular priced cold cuts are cheaper than sale cold cuts at other stores. The medicine aisle is light but Rite Aid is next door. You won't find a big selection of pots, pans and kitchen equipment...you are there to get food. I haven't had the "expiration date" issues others may have had. They run good sales. Parking is excellent, sometimes you can get a spot right by the door. read more

Stopped here last night as the snow was starting. I went to the deli for some store baked Roast Beef. I ordered 2 pounds, the beef looked good and was plenty rare the way I like it. They cut me two one pound packages! Well once home and we finished one package of the roast beef and opened the second pound. The second pound was not cut from the same piece of meat as the first pound it was very obvious. Not as rare and a huge difference in size of the the slices. I kinda wondered why someone other than the lady that was taking care of me handed me the first pound. The deli in Jack's pulled a fast one on me. I worked in a grocery store deli in a neighboring town for quite a while and know what kind of shenanigans goes on in delis. Thanks for the screw job Jack's!!! read more

I feel claustrophobic in this place. It's like being suffocated as soon as you walk in as this grocery store doesn't have the same open airy space as others. That said, mom and I were in and out picking up eggs and oil. Sad thing is the eggs didn't have a price tag, so I thought the price was a bit steep when we checked out. There were also four cashiers around 6 pm, which seems like a lot since there wasn't much of a line at any of the registers. They have a sushi station and a deli counter. The deli counter looked popular, and the store itself seems to have the general basic offerings, but I can't really comment on the items and prices as we were there to get two things. read more

I have always thought this is probably owned by Jack from what was the IGA in Boonton. I frequented that store for years when I worked in Parsippany and though it was small, it was clean, the prices were not too bad and the meat was the best in the area (long before I had been to a Whole Foods or Fossil Farms). Whether that is true I don't know. The meat has been a cut above the crud at Stop & Shop or Shop Rite. As this store has never been on my way home from any job in the last decade it is always to go there in order to get either "better" meat or some other item not available at Stop&Shop or Shop Rite (Shop Rite is so far out of the way that I consider it a day trip now). I have to agree with the people complaining about the cashiers. They really don't want to ring you up. They want to socialize. And you are in their way (sometimes physically). If you are lucky they won't toss your groceries at you or get uber nasty if you put your debit card in the wrong way or something. As I am handicapped, I plan what I am going to get, do the round as quickly as I am able and head out. It is a shame the cashiers make it an unpleasant experience. I still find the the quality is OK (yes, check expiration dates but that is needed even at crazy busy ShopRite now), the prices not too bad and the meat still an improvement over the other regular supermarkets in the area. Try to ignore the cashiers. At a time when so many people need jobs so badly, why do they keep these people there? I don't know. read more

I had to stop shopping at this location. The prices and quality arent great and the employees seem like they hate the place. Theres a strange odor too. I used to go here for convenience, but last time I had a creepy manager following me around the store for some reason, and thats when I decided I wouldnt be coming back. I go check out the produce it's all whipped out and a complete mess, Go to the deli to get some turkey have to waited in for 20 mins with only 4 customers on line? This store use to be my go to store, Now It just looks like it's going out of business. Don't try to get in line to purchase your items the cashiers are rude or don't have any idea what's going on. I'm going back to shopping at shop rite and stop n shop. Jacks SUPER foodtown is a major strike out! Nothing super about it besides how super dusty and nasty the store is. I would love to see who actually runs Jacks SUPER food town anymore the place has really fallen off the past year! You get better treatment and quality in a farm. read more

I shop here frequently because I live close by and it's convenient. In doing so, I've found that Jacks actually carries lots of brands that ShopRite doesn't carry and can sometimes be found at Stop & Shop. They surprisingly carry many organic or healthier alternative products. If you are going to shop here with any frequency at all, you should register for a member card so you can save a little money. I agree, the cashier staff isn't always so friendly, but for a small local "supermarket" I don't feel it's as terrible as others have indicated. read more

0- stars I don't know if the owner knows how badly the employees treat their customers, the customer service people , the managers , etc. The cashiers talk accross the registers in conversation as if you are invisible. They act like it's a coffee klotch and you are intruding on their conversation. Except MAYBE for 1 or 2 people. EVERYTHING in regards to the customer is an imposition! If you complain to a manager THEY DEFEND the employee, and act like it's your fault! I have never EVER seen a store this bad. They don't even open on time, they stroll in when they get there. Started shopping at this store lately, have really enjoyed my experiences in the produce and with the customer service workers. I usually go in the produce for freshly cut vegetables, nice fruits and delicious watermelon. I came on Mother's Day in rush the 2 produce workers the young man and the other fella working were such a big help. They really made me feel important. Not only did they help find my items there customer service was outstanding made me feel more than just a customer. Also the customer service workers help you find any item in stock really helpful. My wife needed a few items I was lost. But the customer service workers helped me with everything. read more
