Big shout out to the owner, Jack! In spite of it being a very hot day & a stubborn bulb, Jack took the extra time to change a low-beam headlight for a disabled senior. The asst. manager at Auto Zone on Main St. advised we'd purchased the wrong bulb, got us the right one & tried to change it out. It wouldn't come out, so she referred us to Jack's Transmission. Jack too had to work at figuring out how to get this thing out, but he did get it changed & only charged a nominal price for it. All this after the local Midas had both quoted an overcharged amount for the bulb (almost double) AND $360 in labor! An obvious & obscene way to try to take advantage of a disabled senior! All told, between the local AutoZone & Jacks Transmission, they saved this senior with health concerns, over $400!!! Thank you, Jack! I took my 2017 Chevy Sonic into another shop in Stockton twice for the same issue with no resolution. I was getting a Fuel Lean code and Check Engine light on my dash. My dad had taken his old Jeep to Jack for transmission work and asked Jack if he'd look at my problem and Jack agreed. I pulled into the shop, told him the problem, and he diagnosed a vacuum leak. He then LITERALLY put his finger on the problem within moments of opening the hood and I was able to see where the air was pulling into the engine. He told me I could fix it myself just by buying the parts, but I asked him to do it, cause I'm a klutz and I wanted to give him the work. The Transmission in my Wife's 2006 Ford Explorer started slipping, so I had it towed to a transmission shop in Stockton where I live to have it looked at, the owner told me it was gonna cost $4,000 to rebuild I told him I would pick it up for now, when I ask him what I owed him he said $387.00 for a new filter and fresh fluid, after I pick it up I checked around for prices I didn't like what I was hearing or the reviews, so I extended my search to Manteca and the first shop I saw was JACKS TRANSMISSIONS so I looked at the reviews and was impressed, so I gave JACKS a call and spoke directly to JACK I told him the problem I was having he stated if it needs a rebuild it would cost me $3,000 out the door so we had it towed on Friday morning he called Friday afternoon and confirmed it needed to be rebuilt so I gave him the go ahead and today Wednesday 08/09/2023 he called to tell me it was done, my wife picked it up and said that it drives and shifts so smooth, she also wanted me write that she was very impressed on how clean and organized his shop was and Jack was very professional and friendly, I have finally found a Mechanic that is honest and fair and does quality work. read more

Where do you go when it's 4:45 pm on a Friday and your brakes start screaming and you're praying it's only a rock, you take it to Jack. Yes, it's a transmission shop, but us locals know it's an all-around quality mechanic. At the of his busy day, he was walking out to check my truck and another person pulled in, he quickly checked their problem and came and checked my tire, pulled it forward, pulled it inside and jacked it up. Took the tire off. Dislodged the rock. Showed me some uneven wearing to check out through the dealer because it was under warranty. Had me on my way in less than 20 minutes. Simply saying when I was so appreciative, that it is just GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE. It is much more than that. I'm so thankful to still have a Gem like this in our community. Jack is beyond honest, he is the best transmission repair guy around. We took 2 cars to him previously so when my 17 year old truck started making a clunk sound when shifting we took it to Jack for a new transmission. we expected $2-4,000. He called today to say its not the transmission, nor the torque converter and can't find the clunk sound. He suggested I drive it a few more years and bring it back when it actually goes out. Our vehicles' transmission quit working on a late Friday afternoon, and all the shops were closed that we tried to call.. On Saturday morning I didn't think anyone would be open, but I called a few places and left messages. I called Jack's, and left a message, and 5 minutes later Jack called me back. I told him what was going on, and he said he would have a look at it, so I called AAA, and had it towed to his shop. Late that afternoon he called and said he wasn't sure what was wrong, but said Monday morning he would pull the pan and have a look. We thought the worse would be diagnosed, so took a wait and see stance. Jack called us around 10:00 Monday morning, and it was actually great news.. He found the transmission filter had collapsed causing the transmission hydraulic fluid to stop flowing, that in turn caused the transmission to quit working. He replace the filter, added new fluid, and new pan gasket, and that was it. Our vehicle was good to go.. For all that he did, he only charged us $180.00. He just became our new mechanic!! He not only repairs transmissions, but also makes other repairs. This guy is the most honest and reasonable mechanic I've ever dealt with, and knows his trade really well. THANKS JACK!! read more

This shop is honest & upfront, Jack is a NO BS kind of guy, "this is the problem & this is the cost to repair it". He was very upfront and not pushy like other repair shops. I asked Jack about rebuilding my transmission, he suggested holding off until it was absolutely necessary & that the new repair ( band adjustment ) should last a good while, but he'd rebuild it if I wanted to go that route. My experience with Jack's Transmission was by far THE WORST service of my life. I didn't know service could be so bad! When I took my car there to have my transmission repaired, they came highly referred. Turns out, one of the mechanics was going to do my transmission at the shop, on the side. Cool, whatever, as long as it's fixed. Charged a flat fee, and my car was there a week. I get it back, and NO JOKE, my car lasted two hours, then it was on a truck back to the shop to be repaired. This time it took two weeks to get it back. I made it about 3 miles down the road...forcefully. I had it towed back home because we couldn't get a hold of the mechanic to get it back to the shop. From home, he picked it up with a pickup truck and a flat bed. He goes to the owner of the shop (who is his brother) and tells him he doesn't know how to fix my car. We get a hold of the owner and explain the situation to him. He reassures us that he has had problems with this guy in the past, and that our car will be fixed, guaranteed. It took a week. I got the car back this past Sunday. It drove fine for two days, until Tuesday afternoon when it left me stranded in the pouring rain with my kids. In addition to receiving poor service, a car that was NEVER fixed, and the hassle of being car-less, the mechanic had stolen the receipt out of my glove compartment so that there was no evidence that it had ever been at the shop. He rigged the car, hoping it would work and pocketed the money, refusing to reimburse for tows that he should have covered, and the owner who said he would specifically get into my car and get it fixed, never touched it and is no longer willing to fix it at all because he found out the receipt was stolen so there's no proof....I'm shocked, and thankful that I'm at least getting my money back so I can take it elsewhere. What kind of mechanic who works at a transmission shop doesn't know how to repair a transmission??? These people are shady, thieving, unreliable liars and I would NEVER refer ANYONE to them. I have no idea how they're still in business. I rate this business a negative ten. read more
