My Nissan Altima started to have issues, and I found D&S on Yelp. I really appreciate Tom's honesty- He said I needed quite a bit of work done suspension related, but said he could fix the misfire for $360 to put me back on the road, or he could do all of the necessary work for around 3k. I have the money so I opted to do all of the work instead of just buying a new car. Most places will say you NEED all of the work done rather than presenting an option as Tom did. Here's my full thorough experience. My AC on my Nissan Altima has been for a while. I first took my Altima to a pepboys to check out the Altima to which they said they would've had to take out and replace my compressor and condenser which would've run me about $2k+. I decided to get a second opinion through D&S automotive. I took my car in on a Friday to check it out. Within an hour of dropping it off. I got a call from Tom saying that my system was leaking bad and that he would've had to replace the compressor and condenser so I gave him the green light. He told me over the phone that it was $730 to which surprised me but later on with a different phone call was actually a mistake and told me it would've costed me $2k~ to which I wasn't really surprised knowing how much pepboys charged for the same service. Tom apologized profusely and was professional about it. I dropped off the car on Friday and they didn't finish until Tuesday afternoon. They're closed on Saturday and Sunday so that explains the longer wait. On Tuesday afternoon, I got a text from Tom Saying that my car would've been at 3:30pm. He also said that the cost was lower than the original $2k~ he quoted which was $1783.34 to be exact which was a plus! Upon receiving my car, my car AC was blowing cold air which was much needed in this July heat wave! I will do a follow up review on my AC in about 10k miles. I recommend Tom to anyone and will for sure bring my car in for any future repairs. read more

Like everyone else here, I had an extremely positive experience with D&S Automotive, in particular Tom. Long story short, I pulled off a dirt parking lot in Half Moon Bay and on my way home, I could hear some unpleasant noises coming from the left front tire at low speeds. Concerned that the rotor or my breaks were damaged, I decided to find an auto repair shop to look into it the next day. Tom looked into it and couldn't find anything wrong (thank god) and didn't charge for the diagnostic. I insisted on paying him for his time but he respectfully declined. Weeks after my car's warranty expired from CarMax, it started fighting to accelerate and even idle correctly. Tom happily talked it through with me over the phone, but of course found out the real suspect for my car's failure after looking at it. Wanted to make sure everyone knows that if you bring your vehicle to Tom at D&S, you will be well taken care of! He's done work for us the past fixing a broken door lock. But yesterday we were nearby when our Sequoia had a blowout (for all toyota owners, please replace those OEM dunlop AT20's ASAP, found out prone to blowouts). 6 STARS if possible! The folks here work extremely hard to meet your satisfaction. Hell, even the Owner gives customers rides home if the work will be extended or if the customer request. The guys in the garage are approachable and willing to inform the customer on just about anything related to their car or cars in general. A modest hard working shop with honest and nice folks. To put icing on the cake... they have VERY competitive pricing... most often less than larger shops in the surrounding area. No real waiting area to speak of but this is overshadowed by the easily requested rides home! Full service shop with little to no pressure but the owners does not want unsafe vehicles to leave as such. I've had to shell out some serious money over the years but each time I was well informed on why and all the other alternatives. When the time came to fork over the cash I was very confident it was the right and proper decision to make. I have never regretted for a moment any work I have had done and when things didn't go as planned... the Shop stood by their word and work and that is something difficult to find today! 5 cars and one wallet, without the information and expertise they have at D&S, it would have been a spectacular failure, but we made it all happen together! 6 stars.... if possible! read more
