He had just reopened his practice, so there were only a few Google reviews at the time--but they were all five stars. I then researched Jim's CPA background in California, where his reviews were also consistently excellent. After our first conversation, I felt immediately at ease. Jim explained that he had moved to Prescott to retire, but after finding retirement a bit too quiet, he decided to reopen his practice. Fortunately for us, we found him before he stopped taking new clients again. Our first two tax years working with Jim were straightforward, but the coming year will be far more complex. Definitely plan to stay with Chantal moving forward for tax returns and consulting. We chose to go with Chantal after contacting and talking to several CPA's. I liked that she is a sole proprietor and not a multi-accountant firm (more personalized service), her pricing is fair, and she was very up-front about what she could / could not do and even suggested we screen CPAs in the valley. As well her accounting background is solid, including stints working for big firms. So far all our interactions have been remote (which I like), but since she's local there's the option of meeting face to face should the need arise. I find Chantal to be professional, prompt, and attends appointments on time. She answers questions promptly, and even sends reminders when we had an outstanding action. I like that she uses the TaxDome portal for our exchanges: sending documents back and forth, and chat messages for Q&A. For me, this is much more convenient than having to drive to someone's office, and pick up the phone and call every time I have a question.
