I do not know if other customers react to the ambience inside the store or on the street the way I do. I am elderly, and remember a downtown very different from what now often looks to me like the Tenderloin. This is not the fault of this store, but circumstances now make entering like being processed into a high-security facility. The focus is now on high-end work, and general services like wristwatch band replacement are no longer available. The staff was faultless in civility and instead of saying no, we can't do it--as is so common nowadays--I was referred to another business which I happened to know was reliable. First issue was with watch repair. They supposedly have an in-house watch repair person, so I asked for an estimate to realign hands on a watch (minute hand wasn't on 12 when hour hand was on a marker). I was told that the repair person was not at the store at that time, but they would get back to me with an answer in the next few days. They never did, and so I called back. Holy cow, the run around I received rather than a simple dollar estimate. I know it's expensive, but they refused to give me a straightforward answer. Finally, I was told that "they didn't cause the problem so it's not theirs to fix." Second issue. I called informing them I was going to buy a certain watch. I asked if there was a list to be put on or if I could prepay for it so that it was mine as soon as they got one in. The person on the phone said they could do neither, but suggested I come into the store frequently to check and see if that particular watch came in that day so I could purchase it. Yeah, I'll do that. I'll swing by every day to check. For crying out loud. Then the person suggested I come take a look at what they do have on display because there might be something else I'd like. I called another dealer. They took my information and called me two days later to tell me my watch came in. They couldn't "hold" it for me, so they allowed me to buy it over the phone and I could pick it up at my convenience. read more

Wonderful experience and service. Worked with Brett who treated me fairly, respectfully, and with kindness. He helped me track down a Rolex I have been searching to get for OVER TWO YEARS that no other jeweler could help me find. Let me first start off by saying that I usually do not write negative reviews, but after having such a horrible experience, I feel compelled to do so. I want it to be known that there were two positives out of the experience, but everything else was bad. The two positives were that Ralph the owner is a wonderful man and his son Tyler was awesome, so it is especially hard to write a negative review. If you are looking to buy a Rolex and spend thousands of dollars, this is not the place to go. Reveka provided the worst sales experience in my life. First of all, she does not know how to handle watches, interact with people or provide a good sales experience including after sales follow up. My Rolex 126300 that I purchased must have been tried on 100 times because after I left and got home I realized that it had a decent scratch on the bezel at 10 o'clock and had some scratches on the Oyster clasp. You would think that they would have at least let me know about it. The warranty card that they filled out was botched up and then they tried to hide it by putting it away without showing me the card. Brett, the owner's youngest son took the white Rolex serial tag from me and stated that no matter what I couldn't have it. I asked him why and he really had no good explanation except to say that no one gets these tags. It got confrontational and at that point, I should have just left. Instead, I took the high road and apologized to Brett for I don't know what while he stated that after I leave he will probably feel bad about the incident while not even offering an apology. Unbelievable and rude. Brett, the owner's youngest son, is no better than Reveka with his lack of professionalism, strutting around the store with his pompous attitude, showing off his Panda Daytona and being confrontational over not letting me take home a hang tag which belongs to the watch is a disgrace. You give Rolex buyers a bad name while you should be setting a good example. Since then, I have purchased a new Submariner 116610LN and new Explorer 214270, BOTH WITH BOTH HANG TAGS. I purchased the watch last June and have tried to refrain from writing this review, but it has just burned me up, so I thought that this review might help at least one potential buyer avoid a similar experience. And of course, I never received a follow up phone call or an email which just shows you how they do business. Needless to say, it was such a bad experience that I did not want the watch anymore and sold it to a dealer at a loss hoping that it would erase the bad experience, but of course it did not. I have a wonderful relationship with another Authorized Dealer in which we have even cultivated a friendship and yes, at the time I was in the market to buy that watch and she did not have that one in stock that day, she was happy that I was going to source it elsewhere. Afterwards, she could not believe what a horrible experience that I had doing business with Jackson Jewelers in Salem. I am currently looking forward to receiving a new Sky-Dweller 326934 in the near future from her. It took a very long time to get an appointment, never heard back from them finally went in. Trusting a friends rec I took my antique wedding ring to have the band fixed and the prongs done. Money is tight so I asked for an estimate before having the work done, they said $250. I felt okay about that and had the work done. They called to say it was ready and that my total was $800. That is an insane difference that should have been approved. Very upsetting and wrong in my opinion. It's stealing from you customers. I will not be going back. read more

I had my wedding ring and mothers ring resized years ago here. Shortly after that the mothers ring cracked at the bottom. When I took it in for repair (somewhere else) I found out my wedding ring was also cracking at the bottom! I also found out that the bands were too thin at the bottom, the gold was not the minimum thickness required, and the setting in my diamond was breaking too (they had replaced that). They did HORRIBLE work and I had to just spend over $600 to get both rings fixed. Stay away from this jewelers!!!! They do not know how to do repairs correctly!!!! I'm so upset!!! read more

DON'T TRUST JACKSON'S JEWELERS. THEY ARE DISHONEST! I bought a special aquamarine from John Dyer. He is a speciality stone cutter and has many amazingly beautiful gem stones. His work is spectacular and one of a kind. I had been looking for a jeweler who could set my stone into a pendant so I went to Jackson's Jewelers. Jackson's sent it to their designers. After two weeks, I called to find out where we were in the process. I was told that these things take a while and to be patience. I got a call after another couple of weeks. They informed me that they had sent my stone to a lab for testing. They said it was a topaz. I couldn't believe it because Mr. Dyer is a master stone cutter. I made arrangements with him to take it back. He tested it with the lab Jackson's said they had sent it to for testing. It is absolutely the aquamarine I wanted. The part of this that is so bad for Jackson's: when my daughter-in-law picked up the stone for me, they paraded out some of their aquamarines. They had her send me pictures. A week later they called me to come and look at their stones. I believe that they tried to convince me that my stone was not real with NO EVIDENCE so that they could sell me one of theirs. I believe that they lied to me. They were wrong on so many levels. read more

I took wedding ring, which was purchased in California, here to have a tiny stone reset which I brought in with the ring. My experience was terrible. When I dropped off my ring, they didn't want to do the work because the ring hadn't been purchased through them, but when I told them it was from CA and I wouldn't be going back there and I'd either have them or another local place do the work they changed their mind. Once they said they would do it it took 45 minutes for them to document my ring into their computer system, which froze so they had to start over. They told me they wouldn't promise they could reset anything about 10 times before I could leave. After not hearing from them for 2 weeks I got a call saying it was ready. Upon picking up my ring I was pissed off to find out that not only had they reset the stone I brought in with me, they were charging me for a stone they lost in their cleaning machine, the cost of resetting that, and work on 8 prongs they repaired. What should have been a $20 repair was now $220 for work I didn't ask for, things they messed up, and they never approved with me. I won't be going back! read more
