Worst service ever!! Picked up our grandfather clock for repair. Nov. 2021. Very nice man. I was bamboozled!! Zero work done, returned zero of our calls, tore the whole clock apart (unsure if we even got all the original parts back). Total chaos in the shop. We showed up with a truck 3yrs 2months later to take back. Cables were all cut grrrr. To top it all, he tried to charge us!!! For doing absolutely nothing but tear our clock apart. Amazing! Old school repair shop that is a must see for the younger generation. They might be a bit slow by today's standards, 21st Century. We had our small mantel clock repaired that had corrosion damaged mechanized movement from a leaking battery. It was very reasonable and ready in two weeks. I'd guess they had to wait for parts. The amazing thing is the number of 6 foot tall grandfather clocks that start chiming on the hour. They are beautiful! read more

Took my clock to this shop last year. It was there for many months. I finally went to check on it and was told that it was working great and keeping time. I took it home and it was not working correctly. While there was a warranty, I was hesitant to take it back. Ended up taking it to another clock shop in a nearby town. They indicated that the work done originally had used short cuts and needed to be re-done. I would not go back to the Salem Clock Shop. read more

The dark hole for clocks. I completely agree with previous reviews about rudeness which is bizarre considering the hundreds of backed up clocks there. After 2 months we went in to check on progress and they could not even find it among the hundreds pied up there for years. When they finally did in a pile of other clocks, I was made to feel bad for taking it home. If you decide to go, simply open the front door and look around. Look at the dates on the repair tags and the system they have for tracking them ( none ) . Then decide if you want to leave your clock there. read more

They have fixed two of my cuckoo clocks and they run great and they r very fair in their prices. the owner and his partner are very kind and friendly. I completely agree with previous reviews about rudeness and general incompetence by the owner who runs the counter. I don't necessarily think pregnant people have to be treated with kid gloves, but it was surprising to see her to be sweet as pie to the fellow old lady ahead of me, then switch immediately to being bizarrely rude to me in my about-to-pop state. My two clocks were a pretty easy job (switching out modern works and hands) and it was completed in about a month, which was reasonable given that the holidays were approaching. But the work was surprisingly sloppy. My midcentury teak clock came back with glue smeared on the exterior wood (he had been replying a few of the numbers)--a concern that was pointedly ignored by the woman as she rung me up. And the "new" hands placed on the other clock were scratched. Then she charged me a few dollars more than she had quoted at dropoff. None of it felt worth arguing over (given my experience with her up til then), but the level of detail was really not what I was looking for. I'll go elsewhere next time, no question. read more

These guys are disorganized, clutter-happy, scatter-brained, eccentric, friendly, dim-witted clowns who ironically have no concept of time. I order and pay $375 for a chiming wall clock on December 4. They can't guarantee Christmas but will call first week of January. No call in January, no call in February, no call in March. I stop in today April 7 give them my receipt and they can't tell me anything? End up saying "I'm not sure we ordered it?" Wow! I ask for refund and I'll never come back. Another customer who came in and say this and gave me that WTH look. I just said "I feel like I'm in a bad reality show right now." read more

The owner knows clocks but sometimes make inappropriate comments, as does his partner. They need a counter person who has customer service skills, not a couple of hillbillys who treat customers rudely. read more

I went to Salem Clock Shop to see if I could find a grandfather clock as I have wanted one since I was young. The owners couldn't have been more honest or helpful. They showed me not only clocks but differences in mechanisms, wood and quality. They arranged a delivery date and drove in rush hour traffic 50 miles to delver and set-up. I offered the owner refreshments for his hard work but he was too mannerly to take even that. The clock is perfect, beautiful and has a stunning chime. My neighbour says, it's like being in a cathedral. I will do business here again and recommend them without hindrance. Thank you! read more

Nice little mom and pop shop. They forgot to call me when they got my clock fixed. Several months later I remembered to go check, it had been done for a while. It was a rare discontinued clock and I expected about $100 for repair. They were kind and only charged me $10. I wouldn't expect any modern fast and precise service. I would expect a fair price, kind people, and to go into the store and be amazed that there are so many clocks. read more

I bought my cuckoo clock 09/2001 brought it in for its first cleaning 11/05/2015. After a small complaint about the time required to repair the broken belt. I picked up the clock all repaired 04/05/2016. Yes it did take longer than expected but the clock also needed a new music box and it need a power wash from all the dust. 15yrs is a long time to go without a service call. Dave the owner waived the cleaning charge and the replacement belt charge. I only paid for the new music box. I would recommend them to anybody with one caution, it's going to take time. read more
