Where do I start not many options huh, this place when we walked in wasn't many people but the young man with the locs was very welcoming. Everyone obviously seemed like regulars which was a great thing. Which gave my partner and I the impression that this place was gonna be good. Fast forward my partner ordered the turkey dinner with two sides Mac n cheese and collard greens. I ordered simple French toast with pork bacon and turkey sausage.Food took a minute to come out, like it was being prepared fresh. And IT WAS SIMPLY COLD.

I've eaten here a few times in the past 5 years, and it has not gotten better. This most recent visit I ordered catfish, yams, and some breakfast items. I was really hungry! I was disappointed when I saw the canned yams. Like fresh out of the can, nothing added. My pancakes tastes like cheap box mix and the macaroni and cheese needed something. The service is always warm and friendly and the restaurant is clean. The kitchen needs some love as far as the ingredients go. Fresh ingredients will always bring your customers back. The history and nostalgia is there, but please bring back the delicious, soulful flavors.

This is one of my favorite soul food places! The food here is amazing! Very friendly, family-oriented employees and the vibes are very chill. Tell them Stephanie sent you!

The food was good. I tried to call in my order but never got anyone on the phone. I decided to drive there anyway. Got there and could barely park in the parking lot. It's not a huge parking lot and the spaces is tight. I would suggest parking somewhere else. I stayed because I was already in. Figured by the time I leave the other cars should be gone and I could get out. The inside is way bigger than it looks on the outside. When you come in you wait to be seated by waiter. They have booths and tables for seating. They also have a bar seating area. Since I was placing to go order I went to bar area to place order. They have contact less menus you when first walked in. It is more descriptive than the menu online. I eventually caught a waitress attention to place my order. She was rude because she was rushing to take my order. Then before I could ask a question she walked off. I usually place my order and wait outside. I had to stay inside and wait for my order because she didn't take my name or number, didn't have a name tag and didn't give me a order or ticket number. The food took 30 minutes to come out. Which I knew it would since it's made to order and they was busy busy. I will not be returning to this location but I will be visiting there other location to try some other items like: the liver and grits, turkey wings and peach cobbler.

The food was good and definitely hit the spot. Only thing I hated was the biscuit. The service was great and I was served my food very quickly.

We had a great service and delicious food at this restaurant. I have to fry snapper, a side of grits, eggs, two biscuits, a coffee and a glass of orange juice. My total was only $30. Other items on the menu were very reasonably priced as well. The portions were also decent - I could not finish all my food, even though it was very tasty. You can find parking on the street around the building, and there are a few spots behind the building. We went on a Sunday morning and was seated immediately, but I believe it's because we beat the after church crowd. The setting is very casual. And to my surprise, there is bar seating. The rest of the restaurant has booths and stand alone tables.

A pure joy to have experienced. We were promptly and pleasantly greeted by two servers. The menu offers so many selections it's difficult to choose. I opted for the meatloaf, greens, mac n cheese and yellow rice. The hubby got smothered liver and onions, cornbread dressing, greens, mac n cheese. My father-in-law got oxalis, yellow rice, lima beans and mac n cheese. The entrees normally comes two sides but our server was kind and gave us three, "one on me," he says. Asides from being in a freezer like atmosphere, it's a nice and friendly ambience and many celebrities have graced this place.

The food was soooo delicious OMG. Came down here for the AfroBeatz festival for Memorial Day weekend and was trying to to find the best comfort food in Miami. The shrimp and grits I had was super tasty and flavorful and it is seasoned right!!! My mom is born in Mississippi so a lot of southern restaurants tend to disappoint me with their so- called soul food. My fiancé had the pancake dish and he said it was so fluffy...he even got sleepy after eating lmao. CThis place is my go to spot from now on whenever I come down.

Jackson Soul Food Area: Was in the downtown section, some vagrants but they are not asking for money, they are just in the area. Restaurant: clean on the outside and clean on the inside. We were greeted and seated immediately. There was not a lot of people in the restaurant. There's memorabilia throughout the restaurant. Service: Our waitress Ms. Brenda was AMAZING she had a wonderful disposition hilarious and great personality. So great that I had to take a picture with her before I left. I will say it did take a moment for us to get the food once we ordered so don't be in a hurry. If you are in a hurry you might want to order to go. Food: I enjoyed the French toast and the thick slice of country ham. Others in my party order grits and Salmon Croquet and grits and catfish. There were no complaints and they said that the mimosas were very good and heavy handed on the liquor. I gave it a four star because the took a long time to get to the table but other than that great place and would return whenever I am in Miami

Great soul food with great service. Our server was attentive and quick. I ordered the catfish/grits, so fire/bomb. I had the salmon croquettes as well, wasn't a fan as it tasted very fishy. Everything else was really good. Will be returning in the future.

My go-to spot for Soul Food in Miami. When you enter this place you are part of a long history of Black/Caribbean/Southern heritage. The food is so good, full of flavor, and always the right price. They serve breakfast until around 11, servers like Anita are so attentive and sweet, they keep you updated on any items that are missing or any alternatives you'd like. This is definitely a fave spot for me when I'm yearning for my granny's cooking. Check this spot out when you need your fix!

Absolutely not worth it! The strawberry was pretty good. They were able to substitute the milk for coconut milk. They weren't able to substitute the foam for non dairy foam, so we got no foam. The tiramisu matcha was terrible. It tastes NOTHING like tiramisu. All they needed to do was make the mascarpone sweeter and thicker, and use sweetened condensed milk mix for the milk then soak the lady finger in espresso or sprinkle espresso on top. I was so disappointed it tasted like snot in a glass with matcha on top to me. The manager was very nice, she asked me if I liked it and I was honest with her she replaced my drink with a strawberry matcha. They took forever getting my strawberry matcha to me, it was getting busy but our server never came back to our table to give me my new drink. He was awful. The standout of the entire meal was the tres leches French toast an absolute 10/10. It was rich, perfectly sweet, and honestly one of the best brunch items I've had. The seasonal fruit platter was also a 10/10 so fresh and beautifully presented with honeydew, pineapple, blueberries, strawberries, watermelon, and a side of blueberry yogurt that tied everything together perfectly. The breakfast burrito, however, was more of a 5/10 very basic and didn't stand out compared to the other dishes we tried. Overall, the experience was still enjoyable, especially because of the incredible French toast and fresh fruit platter. The hardest part about dining here was deciding what I wanted to order. I could have ordered the entire menu it looked so good! Helpful tip... check out the menu and know what you're going to order before you get in line. Otherwise you're going to be pressured to order at the front of the line. When you walk in, you place your order and pay for it and take a table number. You need to find your own table. Our service was pretty quick, despite how busy the restaurant was. My cold brew was very good and a nice start to the meal. Our guacamole came next and it was nicely styled with pomegranate, cheese and cilantro on top. Yum! The real star of the show for me was this unassuming looking House Club Sandwich that was to die for. Seriously ... it was so good. I ordered mine without the ham, and it was divine! I wish i lived closer. I'm already dreaming of coming back. My son ordered some kind of short rib/beef burrito and it disappeared so quickly I didn't even get to snap a photo. This is a perfect spot to enjoy a great meal, I highly recommend it. One thing I can say is that it's on the pricey side. $113 lunch for 2 added up super fast but it was well worth it. Water is self-serve, and once you're done with your meal, you just head out. There's minimal interaction with staff, which might appeal to people who prefer a more low-key, independent dining experience or want a place to sit and work without being interrupted.
