The lamb chops cooked medium-well with the hot honey were easily one of my favorite dishes--tender, flavorful, and the sweet heat from the hot honey took them to another level. The mac and cheese was made just right with a creamy, cheesy center that had me going back for more. The red beans with beef sausage were hearty and packed with flavor, although I did find the rice to be a bit crunchy. The fried chicken was crispy, well-seasoned, and definitely worth ordering. Even though it was raining, we decided to come here out of all the places we could have chosen in Miami. Unfortunately, the service really took away from the experience. When we arrived, there wasn't a table available, so the hostess told us to sit at the bar while we waited. We waited about 10-15 minutes and watched people who arrived after us get seated. It honestly felt like we had been forgotten about. Once we finally got a table, we sat there for another 15-20 minutes without anyone coming over to greet us or check on us. My sister eventually had to approach the hostess, and we were moved to another table. We don't drink alcohol, and the non-alcoholic drink options were disappointing. Once we were seated, our waitress was barely attentive and only came by once to check on us. I couldn't help but feel like because we weren't ordering alcohol, we weren't given the same level of attention or service. The disappointing part is that the vibe was actually really nice and the food was good. We wanted to enjoy ourselves and have a great sisters' night out, but the way we were treated did not match the amount of money I spent here. A redemption arc...sort of. After my experience at the Dallas location I wasn't rushing back to Kitchen + Kocktails but Miami had other plans and I'm glad I gave it another shot. First things first, this location is in the heart of busy Miami so do yourself a favor and uber. Parking in that area is its own event and not one worth signing up for. The space itself is exactly what you expect from K+K, aesthetically pleasing, well designed and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to stay longer than planned. The vibes are consistent across locations and Miami delivered on that front. Service was genuinely impressive for our party size. Everything came out hot, timely and accounted for which anyone who has dined with a large group knows is no small feat. Credit where it's due. For starters I went with the chargrilled oysters and they were delicious. The main event was the spaghetti and fried fish combo, a combination I was curious about and pleasantly surprised by. The fish was fried to perfection, well seasoned and somehow tasted even better the next morning for breakfast. No regrets. Now the price point. Kitchen + Kocktails remains aggressively overpriced and Miami is no exception. We ordered 2 sides, greens and mac n cheese and then the fried catfish and spaghetti with cornbread. They brought out the catfish dinner with greens and cornbread and Mac n cheese. Instead of leaving that and going to get some spaghetti, they took everything back. I inquired and they bring me my 2 sides. I was done eating and ready to leave before they ever brought the catfish with spaghetti. It's like we had to start the timer all over again. When the food finally arrives, no service recovery. No apology for the mix up. Nothing. Gratuity was included so maybe that's why their was no apology. I was going to order dessert but decided against after that experience. Last evening we decided to try out the recently opened Kitchen & Kocktail by Kevin Kelley in Wynwood, which is a classy sports bar with lots of TVs and also a restaurant. You can tell they invested a lot of money in the remodeling, furniture, and updating that has made it a very popular spot. They have R & B music and HipHop. They usually have a DJ. This place used to be the Bottled Blonde, which has closed. The attire is classy casual and there were all age groups enjoying themselves. It's also a good date night place. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. As you enter, you are greeted by the friendly doorman to get your wristband . Then you enter a fabulous, brightly-lit tall mirrored cubicle with flashing lights. What fun! It is very bright in there for a bar though. We like more of a low light mood. We had delicious drinks, Frozen Mango Tequila and a Patron Frozen Strawberry shot. We shared Fried Chicken with mashed potatoes. There was more mashed potatoes than chicken so we ordered more chicken.They make really good food there! When you go inside there, the food cooking smells so good. Went back to K + K after an amazing evening at PAMM. I walked away once again extremely pleased with the service. Sebastian was wonderful. 10/10 Tonight I was surprised when we arrived that the restaurant was pretty sparse for our 9p.m. dinner. We did get seated right away and I knew, no matter what, we were getting Fried Chicken again. I was also determined to get the Peach Cobbler that was sold out my last visit. I immediately ordered an Old Fashioned, but was encouraged to try the signature Gold Fashioned. It was a sexy, tasty take on the original. I didn't find it too sweet, but some may. 10/10 We started with Salmon Bites and these light, golden-brown nuggets of deliciousness were, in my opinion, better without the accompanying dip. 10/10 I also ordered the Jerk Chicken Noodle Soup. What is this, a joke? I'm half Asian and half Caribbean, born eating kimchi, so heat is where I thrive. Sebastian told me multiple times that the dish is spicy. Sebastian told me the dish is jerk, jerk, jerk spicy. Again, I love heat. This dish is ridiculous. All good chefs know, there's heat and spice, and then there's heat that ruins taste buds and destroys the palate for the rest of the meal. Chef seems to get real familiar with Scotch Bonnet in this dish. So it is as Sebastian described, jerk jerk. What he didn't account for is the pepper. The heat is one thing, I tried several bites, but the soup didn't have any chicken and the noodles were limp. I would rethink this dish. 1/10 (the 1 is because a "Jerk Chicken Noodle" could be so good, fingers crossed for an edit) We ordered Fried Chicken, Fried Catfish and Collard Greens. The Fried Chicken was a bit salty and the sharp, clean heat I enjoyed the first time wasn't there. It was still moist, crispy and crunchy. 7/10 The Collard Greens did have that beautiful, lingering smoke that I enjoy, but they were a bit softer than last time 9/10. We did get the Peach Cobbler and Banana Pudding 100/10, both are really divine. I decided to add a side of vanilla ice cream after tasting the cobbler, and waited for an odd amout of time before it arrived. The heat from the cobbler was gone, but I did enjoy a couple more bites just the same, live and learn. Tonight the music was good, no live DJ. There was a photographer at $25 a framed photo. I had such a great experience here! The space itself is absolutely gorgeous--comfy, open, and just has a really inviting vibe. From the moment you walk in, you're greeted so genuinely that it instantly makes you feel at home. I stopped by during happy hour and sat at the bar, which ended up being the perfect choice. The servers were attentive, friendly, and you could tell they actually enjoyed being there. They were more than happy to offer suggestions and to top it off, they even handed out complimentary Peach D'Ussé frosé shots, which was a fun surprise! For drinks, I ordered the Pink Blush twice (yes, it was that good ) . I requested mine to be made with a tequila base. For food, I went with the catfish and spaghetti, and it did not disappoint. The catfish was seasoned perfectly, and the spaghetti sauce tasted incredibly fresh and savory. What really stood out to me was the level of service. Not only did they check on me after my food came out, but they were also attentive throughout the meal, clearing finished plates and keeping everything tidy without being intrusive. The best chicken and waffles you will ever have but you have to wait for them to open. Kitchen and Kocktails just landed in Miami and they're coming in hot. The moment you walk in you're reminded that you're home and they're not wrong from the crab cake to the salmon bites everything carries depth. But it's the chicken and waffles. It's the juiciest chicken. I'll double down on this because I got their chicken breast. Their waffles rotate, we got the cinnamon bun and it was insane.
