Daniella, the owners grandchild sat us, was just awesome, we were very happy she was going to be our server, as she told us a little history about the place and her family who now owns/runs it. Then this dude unexpectedly swooped in and took our order, wait a minute, we wanted Daniella! No complaints about our waiter, other than he could have told us to pass on the oysters, they were not good. We all ordered the filet, and WOW did it have some flavor! It melted in my mouth, was so juicy and flavorful! That brown gravy type of sauce was scrumptious! Cooked to perfection....did I mention Daniella came by many times to check on us? Good job girl, you realized our group vibed well with you, and even though the male waiter kind of took over, you still watched over us! Thank you. My family wanted to leave... after paying for drinks but we just decided to eat light. On my salad no dressing just tossed with olive oil. Flavorless. At last night's anniversary dinner at the Jacksonville Inn Restaurant, our lovely, sparkly server Dani went above and beyond. Learning of my need for a nonfat dessert, to my utter delight she concocted a confection with fresh berries and nonfat Greek yogurt (bringing two spoons, of course). Then, to my astonishment, in honor of our 25th, she comped us her delicious creation. That she is the very talented chef's granddaughter positions her to use her ingenuity; that she works with passion, compassion, and good taste comes from Dani herself. This young lady is a gem. We stayed there very recently and very much enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very old but in a great location and has a real nice ambiance. The restaurant is only open a few days a week so we ate elsewhere. The only knock I have is that the road is noisy and many diesel trucks cut across there starting early in each morning. read more

Ordered Flat Iron steak which was cooked very well. The Duck Confit looked and tasted like a chicken leg...not impressed. Ordered Hazelnut Torte to go which was packaged very well and good, but so small a portion, it was barely a forkful for two people. Save your money. THIS PLACE HAS CHANGED OWNERSHIP and is now an upscale FRENCH restaurant. We did not realize that and came in prepared for an American meal (and definitely not dressed for upscale french restaurant). That being said, the food was phenomenal, my teenager struggled a bit and we spent a significantly higher amount for dinner than we anticipated, BUT THE FOOD WAS PHENOMENAL!!! As you see in the photos she cleaned up her plate. We found out after we ate, that they have a additional restaurant in back that the called the "Bistro" which had a menus with Mac and Cheese, Burgers and Chicken Nuggets vs Foie gras and Caviar. We don't have any regrets because the food was so good... however, it would have been nice if they had explained the two different sides when we came in with our softball uniform, shorts baseball etc. It was pretty obvious we didn't quite fit in the white table cloth, french restaurant. read more

The Jacksonville Inn is a little piece of history not to be missed when you visit this town. It's a hotel and restaurant with a bit of old west flair and home town feel. We opted for a nice dinner and our local friends and family recommended Jacksonville Inn. Although it was a bit of a hot day, we decided to go with the outdoor seating, thinking it was the more covid safe option. I wish we'd asked what things looked like inside because I'm guessing everyone was thinking the same thing and roasting with us on the patio. Lol. Do yourself a favor and ask. I started off with the watermelon (fresh puréed) vodka lemonade cocktail, which is refreshing and tasty! The wine menu is adorned with lots of Oregon wine, so it's a good opportunity to try local. The food was stellar! Everyone in our party of 8 loved what they ordered. I had the petrale sole, and it was simply delicious. Cooked perfectly, lightly battered, with a lemon dill sauce on top, served with mashed potatoes and colorful roasted veggies. Other dishes at the table were the sea bass, chicken and prime rib. The entrees come with choice of mixed greens or Caesar salad. Some in our party opted to upgrade to the pear salad instead and I think it's a great choice! It looked divine! Everyone raved about their food. The waitstaff were very friendly and helpful. I think they were a bit short staffed, but I know lots of restaurants are struggling with this same issue, so I can't knock them for it. We may have waited a little longer between dishes, but the food quality and taste made up for the short delays. We really enjoyed our dinner. There's dedicated free parking in the back of the restaurant. There is also a wine shop in the front of the building that we heard has an excellent selection. read more

Jacksonville Inn under the former owner used to be one of our weekly go-to restaurants pre-Covid. It was sold during Covid after approximately 45 years of serving the Rogue Valley. It was a real landmark! Sadly, the restaurant is closed now. I understand the new owners are looking for a vendor. I hope they're able to find a good one comparable to those folks who used to work there. Currently, the BEST fine dining in the Rogue Valley is Decant in Medford. They have an excellent wine list with a gifted sommelier and the Michelin chef is truly wonderful. That being said, my husband and I really miss Jerry and his talented team at the Jacksonville Inn. Jacksonville Inn Patio Dining was a solid 5 star! Hard to find places like this and I hesitate to share this spot for fear it'll change but it's been a hard year for these local businesses and sharing is caring! The Inn was exactly what you'd expect from good proprietors who care about your stay. Tammie was welcoming and the room charming! The restaurant was a knock out! Whoever the chef is - excellent job! It was a bit slow in terms of service but definitely worth the wait! The bread basket was amazing. The best fresh bread Ive ever had. Crusty top and soft inside - yum yum yummy multigrain bread. For appetizer, we had a mushroom dish and a salad. Sounds simple but complex and balanced flavors. For the main dish, the pork chops and twice baked was perfect and not your ordinary fare! As I elaborate below, their food and drinks are highly overpriced; their food is mediocre at best; our waitress did not know anything about wine, either. I have had disappointing dining experiences, but Jacksonville Inn makes the hall of shame. Food and Beverages Both the food and the beverages are highly overpriced. On top of it, they add a 6% surcharge to offset the costs associated with their operation during COVID-19. Three of us agreed that the highlight was the dessert. We shared a slice of cheese cake and meringue pie. The appetizers were decent: hazelnut prawns ($17.95+6% surcharge = $19.03) and sautéed wild mushrooms ($21.95+6% = $23.27). The pepper steak was mediocre at best. There's no way no how they can get away with charging their customers $42.35 ($39.95+6% surcharge) for the quality of the steak. Last AND LEAST, what's up with the eggplant lasagna? It's not lasagna by any definition of the word. Sliced veggies were piled up with a little bit of cheese in between. They drizzle something like a dressing from a college cafeteria. It was barely edible. The "best" part is it was $27.50 ($25.95+6% surcharge)! If you order a bottle of wine, they will bring it from their hotel gift shop, which is fine. What's not so fine is that they bring a bottle with a price tag, and they add a markup to what's already marked up as a gift. And, of course, here comes a 6% surcharge on top of all! Service Our waitress was nice, I mean a nice person. We were torn between two pinot noir. She only recognized one of them because they sell a lot of it. She didn't know the other pinot noir; so, she went to ask the owner, but he didn't know anything about it, either! It really doesn't matter if they have an "impressive wine list featuring over 2,000 wines" (quoting from the "About the business" section of Yelp) if they don't know anything about it. COVID-19 Measures As mandated by the state, face coverings are required for everyone. This mandate seems to be understood loosely here. Our waitress was wearing a mask, but her nose was not covered from the time we walked into the restaurant until we left. Another reviewer, Kathy K. also observed that the manager was walking with a mask on his chin. Final Words As you can see from my Yelp reviews, I have eaten at so many restaurants, ranging from Michelin star restaurants to hole-in-the-wall diners. Yes, I have had occasional less than perfect experience, but I do not remember a restaurant that completely failed in all three areas: food quality, service, and price. I would not come back here even if someone is willing to pay for my dinner. Nor do I recommend this restaurant to anyone. If you want a nice meal, drive 30 minutes and go to Alchemy in Ashland. It's expensive but so much better all around. Jacksonville Inn was one of our favorite restaurants in the Rogue Valley. But we moved to McMinnville 17 years ago and we decided to go back and enjoy some of our favorite haunts. Well, I guess the saying; "you can never go back" holds true when it comes to this restaurant. I ordered the beef bourguignon, but someone definitely needs to inform the chef that this dish is a stew, What I got was three chunks of flavorless beef, a couple dubs of mashed potatoes, a few barely cooked steamed carrots and what I guess was supposed to be gravy but was closer to Au jus poured on top. I never do this but when the waitress came around and asked how our dinner was, I was honest. It just so happens I recently ordered this same dish at a wonderful French restaurant in Carlton, Or so I knew what that dish should have been. My husband had the Clam Fettuccini, he didn't say anything about his dinner but after we left, he told me it was mediocre at best. Now the waitress did take my meal off our bill, which she didn't have too but considering I barely ate any of it, I did appreciate it. Lastly, we took our own bottle of wine with us, totally expecting a corking fee but $30 for opening our bottle is seriously over the top. Disappointed is an understatement. Even with my meal removed, NO desert, including a tip our bill came to $150 P.S. I did hear from others that the restaurant has changed hands, so I guess that may explain it. read more

What an amazing place! This Inn is well over 100 years old and has been tastefully updated with comfortable beds and nice furnishings. The restaurant was quite amazing and judging by the locals that show up and by my meal, spot on for quality and price. Staff both checking in and at the restaurant were first class and actively engaging, which is something almost lost these days. I had the opportunity to meet the owner, Jerry, who is most interesting for being 85 years old and still running marathons AND doing the best he can running the Inn given staff shortages everywhere that are hurting businesses. For breakfast, you are given a $15.00 voucher for a very nice coffee house down the street that more than covers breakfast. My next stay in the Medford area will be here for sure. Absolutely one of the BEST restaurants in the Valley+ by far and it has a reasonable price point (generous entrees ~$26) and unstuffy service. Gorgeous old-world-charm inside dining and lovely heated and shaded large patio. The food is amazing: we had cocktails, ceviche, chicken scallopini, fillet mignon and dessert and all were divine and so reasonable. New owners and total win for the Rogue Valley! The Jacksonville Inn is charming! Driving from Portland to San Francisco a few weeks back, the Siskiyou Pass was closed, so I had to stay the night. I remembered having spent a night at the J'ville Inn from 20 years ago, so decided to go back. I was not disappointed! Heather and Trina were welcoming in the wine bar where I had an amazing bowl of Hungarian mushroom soup and a glass of pinot to go with it. I also ordered a charcuterie board to take back to my room to watch movies. The cheeses were especially delicious! And, I'm still daydreaming about the soup... weeks later. The room (#5) was quiet and cozy. The bed was amazing! It had the right amount of soft covers layered and pillows of different fluff sizes so you could choose your preference. I got a great night's sleep. I am looking for a reason to go back soon! read more

We had a wonderful meal last evening. All of the dishes were exceptional including the rabbit, duck, short ribs and filet mignon. We started with the Brussels sprouts and the calamari and the fries. They were all exceptional and got our taste buds warmed up. We followed with several beet salads that were all exceptional. The main courses were all perfectly prepared with wonderful sides. We went to the wine lounge for their advertised wine tasting & it was super awkward. The server seemed annoyed with us & gave us no direction on the event. We finally figured it out & the actual wine rep was great- knowledgeable & great wines. We did order a panini to share, as we didn't want to just come for the free tasting & for $14 it was very bare bones. A little pickle spear or a few chips would have elevated the sandwich & justified the price. Of all the things we did while in Jacksonville, the wine lounge was are least favorite. Newly renovated rooms, we stayed in room 1 and wow nice and cozy with a beautiful clawed bath tub, I do miss the old style before they replaced with updated decor, I also miss how you could write a letter/note and put it in the wall by removing a loose brick. Please tell me you saved all those letters from everyone and put them in a album and have them down at the bar to be read and viewed. We were at Lodge this past weekend, for family event. Went to restaurant 3 nights in a row. The food was outstanding. I have eaten at Michelin Star restaurants a handful plus, of times, and the food here, was just , as good, without , all the pretentious. Beautiful to look at, well plated, tastes, bright and alive. Homemade deserts ! What more can u ask for ? How about professional, pleasant serving staff, a bartender, whom knows his stuff .... I only wish, I could take this place back to my sorry place of residence with nothing, that equals this. read more

I'm traveling solo & always feel safest when I stay at B&B style places. Jacksonville Inn is super cute & old school, just want I like! The room is a corner room with cool AV, feels & looks super clean, the pillows are great, bed is comfy. It's lovely to look at brick walls. I was stoked to see that they brought in a dog bed for my dog. She was in the car all day sleeping and went right to it & past out. Guess you could say we are both very pleased. Also the restaurant has great food & is charming & the bar tender was super friendly & sweet. read more

Update with new ownership. We went for dinner for my birthday last night. I have to say the food is probably the best food in the entire valley. As close to Michelin starred quality as I've tasted outside of a Michelin starred restaurant that I've ever had. Amazing quality. The atmosphere is great. Service was excellent for the amount of servers they had. I need the owner to accept less money in their pockets and hire more servers though. I think there was only 1 server for the entire dining room so everything took much longer than it needed to. Definitely recommend for anyone. read more

While I enjoy this location and the comfortable dining area, and had high hopes for a wonderful meal, I was very disappointed by both the food and the service. The basic issues were portion size, lack of flavor and very high cost. I ordered the corn soup, which was just ok, it retained a nice sweet flavor but wasn't intense and could have been more creamy. The duck confit was my entree. The duck was very dry, trimmed to a small portion and set on a cold white sauce with a bit of cherry reduction spread around the plate. The presentation was messy on the plate and everything was under seasoned. The worst part was the complete overcooking of the duck. I've made both corn soup and duck confit many times and expected much better from this esteemed restaurant. Another surprise was the short wine by the glass list and extremely high price ($16.00) with a small glass and small pour. The white was an Oregon wine but the Cabernet is a wine I buy often, carried by Fred Meyer. From a service standpoint, our server was very nice, however, the way they manage the plates and utensils was very disruptive. There were people coming and going from between and behind us removing and adding to our table even when the plates and utensils were still clean. I'm sure this is how they are taught to do things but it wasn't all that comfortable for us. Unfortunately, we won't be going back or recommending it. read more

Service by one of the owners was absolutely awful. She was so full of self pity and nervous and rather insulting. Beyond this, the food took over 30 minutes to come out while we waited another 6 minutes for one hamburger order to come out. We were a party of four and the only ones on the patio at the time with the restaurant not particularly full. Then the over priced bill for mediocre food was the final insult. It's sad that this former Jacksonville landmark has slumped to all time lows. Not going back for any reason. read more
