I love this place. Their pizza is absolutely amazing. I usually get the white pizza here and the prices are much cheaper than that place that starts with an M. Lol. The wings here are breaded and are very very juicy yet provide a crisp exterior! As I'm writing this review, I will be trying out the fish fry. It has been on my list to try out for a long time but I'm sure I will not have any complaints. The place itself is pretty divey. I revisited jack'ss after a long hiatus and am pleased to say I was pleasantly surprised and found an increase in the quality. We went with the weekly special of a large one topping pizza and a dozen wings for $19.99, a very decent deal considering today's pizza and wing prices. The breaded chicken wings were great. Very good sized, perfectly cooked and covered in delicious sauce. The pizza had a sweet sauce, but it was lacking in quantity. the crust had minimal flop and was decent but became dry tasting over time because of lack of sauce. When it comes to chicken wings in the 585, I have my go to places and tend to stick with what I know. However, I came across a great deal on Local Flavor where I could pay $7.50 for a $20 gift certificate for this place, so I jumped at it and bought five of them with little to low expectations since it was already a great deal. I did my homework and noticed they do breaded wings, a rare treat to find here locally. Country Sweet Chicken Wings are one of my all-time favorite wings and like anyone knows, it's all in the breading. However, the wife prefers her wings buffalo style without the breading which they do too. In the end, we ordered 24 wings, 12 breaded, 12 normal, sauce on the side to ensure they arrive home crispy. No one likes a soggy wing. There's only one place here in the ROC to my knowledge that uses CARDBOARD boxes to help ensure wings remain crisp until their final destination (and that place is Giuseppe's --- Best Buffalo Wings in the 585). In the end, the cost was just a mere $9 and if one can secure wings for under 40 cents a piece, you know you're doing something good. Even if these wings were to be mediocre, I would be impressed since the average pizzeria charges roughly a $1 a wing. Arrive at this small spot, and upon walking in, I started to get frightened. Everything was starting to make sense. The place is a little ran down and looks like it's undergoing some major renovations as they had a little ice cream station that was completely closed as while as a coffee bar that was not open. I always stand by the "Never Judge a Book by its Cover" mentality so I walked up to the counter and asked for my order. Order was ready, gave the cashier my certificate and $1 and change for the difference in cost and I was on my way, a short 5 minute drive to see what these wings are all about. Lo and behold, the breaded wings were some of the largest wings I have ever seen. Arrived home crispy, hot, and extremely tasty, some of the best breaded wings I have ever had. Today, I drizzled on Mild Sassy Sauce (Sal's Birdland sauce) and they were absolutely divine. No celery or carrots but did include your standard 2 oz ramekin bleu cheese per order. The wife thought their mild sauce was decent, nothing more, nothing less, but approved of them. In the end, we were both pleasantly surprised with the quality of the wings. I'm not too sure I'd try anything else other than the wings since the price is right on them and due to such a diverse menu ranging from gyros to salads to pizza to fried chicken dinners, I'd be a little resistant to deviate from the wings. I wish this place the best of luck and I hope this place can hold it's own on Buffalo Rd with such stiff competition around in the Gates area. Ordered online for pick up. Estimated time was 1 hour. We went after a hour to pick up our food. To our surprise when we arrived the place smelled like a bathroom and our food had not even been started. Why? Because they ignored our order when it came in. Seriously?? They told us they would make it right now and deliver it to our home. We would still have to pay for the food of course. We should have just walked away and canceled the order. Another hour later. We have finally got our food. I will repeat we should have cancelled and went somewhere else. The breaded wings were not crispy at all. The sweet and sour sauce was lacking in the sweet and sour department. The pizza we had order the crust was just soggy and lacking in sauce and cheese. We ordered two pizzas and wings from Jack's yesterday. One fajita pizza, one pepperoni, BBQ wings and Mild wings. The fajita pizza was fantastic! The toppings were cooked under a layer of cheese which kept it from falling off as you eat. The jalapenos were so fresh and spicy! It was wonderful! I loved that the crust of the pizza was puffy yet firm. Delish!! The pepperoni pizza was also delicious! It was normal pepperoni, not the cup and curl pepperoni. It wasn't overly sauced and the amount of cheese was perfect! Probably some of the best Rochester pizza we have had. The wings are breaded and large! Well worth the money! We've ordered food from Jack'ss before and we really loved their wings. I'm generally pretty easy going but we've had two really bad experiences the last two times we've ordered online through Grubhub. You can brush one bad experience off, we saw how busy were that night but they happened to acknowledge our order and gave an estimated time to complete. We show up at the time they estimated it would be finished. It wasn't ready but they told us it would be out. We sat there for at least 45 minutes before we stood back up to see how things were going. The woman at the counter acknowledged the mistake and started the order at that point. To their credit they tried to refund us, but we don't mind human error, especially if you own up to it. People are quick to throw a fit over simple human error, I try not to be one of those types of customers. Tonight, we placed another order, this time for delivery. They received our order, and it was acknowledged through Grubhub. Another 20 minutes later they updated the order online to let us know that the order was finished and should arrive in 30 minutes. An hour from the estimated time of arrival we decided to call to see what was going on. This time they didn't own up to it. They told us that "they just started it." That's restaurant code for "we forgot your order and haven't started it yet." Fine. Order is on the way. Another 30 minutes later the order arrives. Wrong. Not only was our order ignored but it was wrong. We called up and asked for the manager. We were told we would be refunded, which they did do for us. They may have lost our business but they're honest business people. I still love their wings which makes me sad. read more

I love little "mom/pop" shops/restaurants. It's so nice to go to restaurants that are chains. If you are in the mood for garbage plates with THE BEST MAC SALAD, this is definitely the place to go. The drive is worth it (since it's near buffalo rd) everytime we come here it's usually the owners greeting us which makes me feel welcome. Wings are breaded a+++ if you like breaded wings that are a tid bit over priced. Pizza is B- good toppings and cheese sauce is lack luster. Dough is crap like most pizza places around here it has inconsistent texture due to a water/ heat /time baked mismanagement and a general lacking in complex flavor. Non tahous plate is A++ Mac salad is fantastic and fries, toppings are very good including meat sauce. From what I've ordered: The pulled pork BBQ dinner is a great value for what you get and very good. The plates are very good. The mac salad is out of this world. One of the best I've ever had and I don't make an order without it. The pizza just really isn't great. Not terrible but I'd order anything else first. Today is my birthday and I wanted their gyro dinner. I haven't had it in a while so we ordered two dinners and a large order of Pizza Logs. Make sure if you order from them you tell them ahead of time you're going to use your credit card. I waited until the end and it was a fiasco and I ended up paying cash. Next negative was that it took over an hour and a half to get our food. They gave us a giant vat of coleslaw that was watery and the fries soggy. The chicken was okay but we always get one super tiny piece that makes us laugh. Now on to my gyro. I didn't take a picture of it because I really couldn't it was just loaded with tzatziki sauce. There was very little meat and what was there was the consistency of a potato chip and the thickness of one too. I tried to eat it thinking maybe it would get better as I went but it didn't. I was so disappointed I ended up throwing the whole dinner out because I was afraid it was old and I was going to get sick so I didn't want to eat anything. I called and complained and they asked if they could make me another one. I said I would pass I didn't want to wait another 90 minutes and then they said they would give me my money back. Was in a mood for ribs for lunch, so I gave Jack'ss a first try. The rib dinner consisted of 5 ribs and 2 sides. It really turns out to be enough for 2 light lunches. I thought the ribs were very satisfying (as opposed to delicious) having a lot of meat, just a little sauce, and a nice BBQ char. The cole slaw was good, but not anything to rave about, but the baked beans tasted like they were just out of a can. It was a Friday in May and I was craving a fish fry with fries and coleslaw. So I placed the order online at 5:56PM, thats the time I received the conformation from GrubHub that the order was received at Jack'ss. Estimated time of arrival was 60-80 minutes that would put me at we will round up little and say 7:30PM. At 7:31 I was told order was out the door and would be in my hands at 7:41PM, Guess what happened next? 7:41 came 7:50 came and 8:00 Came and still no food. Now im getting upset because as you can imagine Im beyond hungry because lets face it thats why I ordered to begin with. 8:12PM came and finally my Ring doorbell camera went off after the drive push the magical big button. I was excited at this point. Now we are on to the quality of food, and let me tell you it was NOT worth the wait. The fish was so SOGGY and COLD, its like they went out the backdoor to a pond yanked at the damn fish out of the water and sprinkled bread crumbs on it, it was not beer battered like the menu stated, The fries where the same COLD and SOGGY not to mention all the liquid from the coleslaw leaked onto the fries almost in a way that had me convinced the driver was running in the Indianapolis 500. I was SO PISSED & HUNGRY that I ate it anyway. Im not one to call the store and complain cause I waited long enough I wasn't going to wait again. This is your business and your serving food of this grade. Also the fish and fries where plopped in the styrofoam container with NO aluminum foil or parchment paper so Holes melted in the bottom of the container so I had to clean up the Huge mess on my kitchen floor before I could sit down and eat the COLD and SOGGY fish that was caught that day. If you cant tell Im still upset, I spent over $28 on that and a 5 piece shrimp dinner that when I opened that the entire thing of tarter sauce was melted and leaked all over that container. 1/5/19 I I have lived in Swillburg area since 1990 and was a customer of the old Little Venice next door to the laudromet and the service was always excellent and food good and always coupons for medium pizza with a topping that was good. I happen to walk in for a slice at the new Resteraunt Little Venice and they charged me off the cuff for a thin sliced piece of pizza that was small $7.00. I thought it wasn't right Since Little Venice has gone so called upscale I an no longer a customer and I now get my pizza and other items and Bay and Goodman on Winton road and they are the best pizza and the nicest owner's and don't charge $7.00 for a measley piece of pizza. I no longer like their attitude at the new Little Venize and customer service sucked. The real Italian people at Bay and Gooman now located on Winton road is by far the best pizza and everything along with the owner's having a warmth to the customer's. read more

We ordered from Jack'ss when our usual favorite pizza place in town was closed for the day. We were unimpressed. It might suit some people, but this just wasn't the place for us. The cheese on the pizza only extended about halfway from the center to the edge, leaving about half the circumference all plain crust. And there was so much crust. If you prefer thin to medium crust, you will not enjoy Jack'ss thick-crust pizza. Additionally, while the wings were very large, they were coated in a very thick breading and not at all crispy.
