I've heard so much about Capone's sandwiches on social media. I had to stop in and try one. The restaurant is small but tables are available for dining in. They also have drink coolers available with a wide variety to choose from. The woman who took our order was very nice. The ordering process was quick and simple. Sandwiches were ready within 10 minutes. Absolutely loved my sub! I ordered a large vodka parmesan sub with house made pesto drizzle. I enjoyed the crusty bread and sauce flavors. My husband ordered a cold sub and was happy with how stacked it was. He also said the house made Italian dressing was delicious. The sandwich was perfect and I can see Capone's being my new sub go to. The sub was around 19 with tax which is a little pricey to me, but the quality was excellent. I was interested in pizza but didn't like seeing the pizza slices just sitting out in the open. They are not covered or in any type of casing. I don't like the idea of slices just sitting out like that exposed to the atmosphere. Will have to order a freshly made pie to try. read more

Capone's Italian Eatery seriously impressed us from start to finish. We ordered the Canzone, and it was absolutely perfect--stuffed with a great variety of meats and fresh cheese, with just the right amount of dough so it wasn't overwhelming or heavy. You can really tell the ingredients are high quality and made with care. We also tried several subs, including the buffalo chicken, meatball sub, and the vodka chicken parm sub, and every single one was fantastic. The flavors were bold, the sauces were spot on, and the portions were very generous. Nothing tasted rushed or thrown together--everything was hot, fresh, and full of flavor. The dining area is a bit small, but it has a cozy feel, and honestly, the food is the real star here. We ordered two items through Grub Hub this evening. Will not order again from this restaurant. I ordered a Philly Cheesesteak just as described on the menu, I still can't get the salty taste out of my mouth ,cheese on the cheesesteak was almost nonexistent . My wife had the antipasto salad which was missing the olives and onions, two ingredients in the salad she really enjoys. Ordered catering a week prior to needing it. two sheet pizzas, one gluten free pizza & a tray of pasta. Pick up set at 2:00. Get there at 2:00 & was told they were working on it. Ok no big deal. 35 minutes later it was done. No apology or anything. Made one pizza too big for the box & cut off the extra. Didn't offer it to me even though we paid for it. Kept dumping excess sauce off of the pasta into the garbage bin & letting the container touch the garbage. By the time I drove there, waited for the food & drove home I missed an hour of my child's birthday party. Food was decent but pizza wasn't cut very evenly. Pasta sauce was very watery but pasta was cooked well & had enough cheese. Would not ordering catering again if you can even have a small simple order ready when promised. Also their menu online has incorrect information on pricing. I asked staff questions on the phone & in person regarding their menu & they had no clue the answer to simple questions. Ordered pick up from here based on seeing a couple of clips from Eat Local NY. Small place mainly setup for takeout. Staff was nice when I walked in to pickup. We had the chicken parm w/pasta, margherita pizza, antipasto salad, and the Soprano(chicken parm with eggplant and pesto). The Food was great and large portions. My wife enjoyed the chicken parm which is her favorite Italian dish. Kiddo liked the margherita pizza and I finished the Soprano which is a feat in its own and speaks to how much I enjoyed it. The Antipasto Salad lives up to the billing as a popular item. It was very hearty and delicious. Pointer- Call in and ask about specials. They don't list them on their online menu and that's how I found the soprano. Even though it's a hike to get, I will be back. read more

Food is typically great, but they're extremely disorganized. Last night I sat around for an extra 15 minutes for a pizza they forgot to make. Then I get home and a gluten free pizza was made with regular crust. Then I get a system generated email asking how my order was. I instantly give feedback and I've heard nothing from them all day. Service was great. All the staff was friendly and helpful. We got the Vodka Chicken Parm sub and a large cheese and pepperoni pizza. The sub was very good. I wish it had more vodka sauce. The cutlets were very good. Thin and flavorful . The combination of it all went well together. The pizza was good. Definitely needed more sauce on it but the sauce was excellent . The dough was good but wish it was crispy on the bottom. The mozzarella and pepperoni was very good. The mozzarella tasted like it was fresh and a good quality. Everything you want from a Chicken Parm. The chicken texture was perfect, and honestly, it's probably the first time in three years I've had chicken that actually tasted this good. This was our first time trying Capones and we tried two of the hot subs and they were both AMAZING! The first was the vodka chicken parm sub (10/10) and the other was a "secret" menu item, chicken cutlet Caesar salad sub (9/10). I'm crazing both and will be back again soon. We ordered on a Sunday and they open at noon. I tried calling at 12:10pm and the wait was already 45min. They said they had a line out the door (which is a great sign that people love their food). Went to Capone's for lunch after seeing a good review-- and we were pretty much blown away by the incredible food! My husband had a special hot sub with all sorts of stuff-- including arugula and green apples. It was immense. I decided to go for a cheesesteak just to see how they do on the standards. It was probably one of the best I've had in about 40 years, ever since I grilled my own at the university snack bar. Maybe even better. The steak was good quality, the balance of cheese to meat to vegetables was perfect and all was well mixed and well seasoned so that every single bite had every bit of flavor. The roll was also one of the best-- crisp on the outside and not so thick that it got in the way. We also ordered a slice of pizza to try it out-- it was a perfect NY style crust-- foldable, but the point stayed up! Based on the other reviews I think I'll spend my money somewhere else. There are many eateries like this in Penfield. The entire Rochester area has many casual places to eat but they are all mediocre at best. It is like the early explorers who tried to find a northwest passage to the Orient. There isn't any passage and there aren't any really good Italian pizza/ restaurants here. It's all the same warmed over ingredients. Look elsewhere for a good pizza or hero. read more

Was very excited to try a new place and am glad I did. We got a pizza that was half broccoli and half pepperoni and it was very good. Slices we're big! The location is a little tricky to get to, being right on 441. Took us awhile to be able to turn into the parking lot and to get out. Staff was fine, not overly friendly, but not unfriendly. Exited to try this food out. As I walked in, I could quickly see a few employees upset. The individual that took my order was telling me how upset they were, that they were on the verge of quitting. That they were always being blamed for things they didn't do. It took me about 15 mins to ask for my order. The order was never put into the system, so I had to listen to the staff go back and forth thus pushing out my order another 15 minutes. This was a hostile work environment, never good for the employees/customers. Food got dropped on the ground. Employees were touching food without latex gloves on. There was a younger employee and it seemed like the negative energy was being put on him. Asking him to do a bunch of things, then telling him with a harsh tone "don't drop it"! I can tell that this establishment is on a downward spiral. Food tasted good but will never return unless Real leadership can teach their employees how to conduct business in a professional matter. To top things off, my order was not correct. I hope leadership can make large strides or I will never go back or recommend it to anyone. It's a great place and my sub was delicious. The only down side is the price for a 6 inch sub was 14 bucks for a hot sub, for only 2 dollars more you can get a 12 inch. So always get 12 and save it for later. The service was fast & efficient. Will go again. read more

I really want to love this place because it felt so authentic and the food was great. I'm just so sad that I drove 45 minutes one way to wait in line for over an hour. Philly Cheesesteak Hot Sub is made with Steak-umm style frozen beef not freshly shaved beef. That being said, it was seasoned well and was blended nicely with the cheese. It's much too wet for my liking. A proper cheesesteak should be on the dryer side but gooey. The sesame roll was tasty and the portion size was generous. If this place could make the steak less wet, drop the mushrooms and peppers from the base sandwich and use Cooper Sharp, they could actually list it properly on the menu as simply a Cheesesteak as Ben Franklin intended.
