Basic shine is $7, cream shine is $8, etc. They have a "$3 suggested tip" at the bottom of their posted price list and will not hesitate to point it out if you don't see it and leave less, as I did. Regardless of whether you think a $3 tip on a $7 base is too much, why have suggested tips that are actually mandatory? Just raise the price. read more

while this place seems to be a great place to come to My experience wasnt. I took 3 pairs of shoes to put taps on and one bag to sew the stitch on the handle, I paid over $100 dollars for the repairs. I get the shoes home and the leather on the side on the shoes is peeling on one, the suede on the black shoes are dirty with dust and particles and red back had a black stain on the handle. If that is not bad enough I wear one of the shoes and while at work I go to walk and the whole 1 shoe comes apart and the other one is coming undone. So I go to tell them about how I did not bring him my shoes in this condition and instead of offering repair which would have been just glue, he tells me that had nothing to do with him... Im sorry it most certainly does where ever you placed my shoes caused them to come apart... and when I looked at the other pair of black one the insole is lifting as well.. customer service is very important. providing solutions to an already upsetting situation can keep people happy and coming back. After borderline harassing me for a week to pick up and see what he had done. I had thoroughly described the pieces and what I needed to have repaired on the bag, loafers, and boots. Most of the work was incomplete as the heels were never replaced, my bag strap was never reattached, and my loafers were returned to me completely discolored and destroyed of all embossing on the design they're Celine! This is the worst business and business owner I've encountered in my 7 Years in New York City. I was swindled by the good reviews and decided to go in yesterday, though I now notice so many of these reviews are from folks with only one review and/or no profile picture, and 38 reviews have been filtered out by yelp - not a great sign of authenticity (also notice most photos are by-owner). Hindsight is 20/20. Ari charged me 3x the price listed and that was fine because I desperately needed my shoes by the next day. He asked for money upfront, and I was worried about that, but trusted him anyway because of these yelp reviews. I was wrong. When I came to pick up my shoes, the tassel on one shoe was completely missing. I told the employee, who called his boss (Ari) and had me speak to him. I let him know the tassel was missing, and - to my surprise - he insisted they were that way when I came in. Thing is the tassel is large and secure - it's part of the main design of the shoe and something that would legitimately need to be broken/ cut off - not something that could come off easily without a considerable effort. And it's really obvious - so it's now unwearable without tassels on both sides. (Which is insane because if the tassel was missing I'd ask to get it fixed with the other services so that I could wear my shoes, because ... what's the point of only half fixing the shoes? Lol). But here is the worst part of it all - Instead of working with me Ari literally screamed at me for hours on the phone, hung up on me and called back to scream over and over again. It was completely and wholeheartedly abusive, and it seemed to me that he was trying to bully me out of a complaint or refund. It was horrifying. To catch his bluff, I told him he can show me the security footage that proved it was that way when it was brought in and he refused, continued to scream, and lied and said he physically can't do it etc. (meanwhile watching me on the aforementioned security camera - because his employee showed the shoes to the camera while we were talking. INSANE). He then told his employee to give me a refund, and once the money was out, called back and said NOT to give me a refund. (And asked to talk to me again so he could scream at me more. Just - Wow.) Needless to say - I won't be coming back here. UPDATE: I went to Bloomingdales straight from Jacobs and was quoted $20 for the EXACT same service (Jacobs charged me $45), plus $40 to fix the tassel that Jacob's broke. Jacobs has still not issued a refund. Skip this place and go elsewhere if you can. read more

This place is amazing! I brought in my cats favorite claw toy, which also happens to be a pair of my beloved leather Vince Camuto riding boots. They also needed heel repair & new soles. They have been through it. Ari told me to come back in a week & he called me when they were ready, exactly 1 week later. He magically buffed out the claw marks, the boots look new! I've been going to Ari for the past 3 years now after bring ripped off of not very happy with other shoe repairs all over the city. I've had my louboutins Re-solded at so many different cobblers even in Sydney and London (at places recommended by Louboutin), but his workmanship and soles are by far the best. The material he uses is a similar texture to the original sole - so its impossible to tell they have been re-soled. Even after wearing them they are still shiny and look like a pair of Louboutins that have never touched the ground. He also is able to handle complex repairs to my shoes which other places like the leather spa either can't fix or will cost an arm and a leg. I've taken dozens of shoes to him and have never been short of impressed - can not recommend him enough for Christian Louboutin or any shoe jobs!!! read more

I found this trusty cobbler by way of stellar reviews on YELP. I met the infamous Ari who greeted me kindly and promptly. I brought him my weathered "riding" boots on Thursday 12/10 and picked them up today on 12/14. Why the long gap you ask? It was my suggestion so that he could take his time to waterproof, moisturizer, polish and change the worn heels on my boots. The service was $70 bucks as opposed to just getting a shine and heel change for $35. I chose the former so that all I will need to do in the future is an ordinary shoe shine. Jacob's Shoe repair is a small shop, the front entrance dominated by seating for shoe shining and the back counter manned by Ari who handles repairs. I brought in a pair of badly worn Ferragamo loafers, rubber heels worn through into the leather stack. He confidently reported the shoes can be remade to be like new by the next day, showing a vibram topper and heel materials he would use for the job. The quoted price was on the high end of my expectations, but he did a fine job restoring the shoe and also added a set of rubber taps to protect the heel from further wear.
