On our last day in Boston, we walked early morning from our Airbnb by the ocean to visit this great hole-in-the-wall breakfast place and were pleasantly surprised. Here is the summary of our visit: Ambiance 5/5: The name outside is rustic and you can easily miss it so you might have to ask someone in case you walk past it but the inside decor and vibe is great and you feel like you are dining with the locals. Service 5/5: As the saying on the wall says, this is the place where locals gather. In our 5 minutes of waiting at the counter, we could see that everyone knew each other and the person at the counter knew them as well. The service was fast and friendly. The patiently listened to our customizations and suggested great alternates. Food 5/5: The breakfast and coffee were both great. We ordered a bunch of items and were not disappointed at all. I don't remember the names of the dishes but both the omelette dish and the coffee was great. Value for Money 5/5: This is where it shines. Even though everything is great and looking at the local crowd, seems to be this way for a long time, it does not burn a hole in your pocket. visited on a Saturday morning with my daughter.....upon arrival, the first thing I noticed is the great parking across the street! We pulled in and got a spot right out front! We walked in and it was a busy time. Lots of action...people waiting for food, people picking up and leaving and others eating at the 6 or so tables. Plenty of help behind the counter and clearly, it was a family-type setting. We were immediately helped and ordered our food at the register. After ordering, we paid and sat down to wait. As we were talking, again, we both noticed how much activity there was in and around the front door. Jac's is clearly a hub for the locals to meet, get something great to eat and to say "hello". I had a full order of French toast (see pic), which was 5 star! Too much for me to finish...that does not happen to me too often! The side bacon was cooked perfectly and the milk was nice and cold! My daughter ordered a breakfast sandwich (see pic), sausage, egg and cheese on a plain bagel. She said the bagel was fresh and tasty! We bussed our own table, when finished and off we went to start the day. If I could give 6-stars, I would.....great stop and Winthrop is lucky to have Jac's Cafe! read more

We are so glad that we found Jac's!! We live on the edge of Winthrop and East Boston and make the walk to Jac's every Saturday for a breakfast burrito. Orders are placed at the front and served at the table or as take out... As busy as they are here, this is well done. There aren't many tables, so depending on the time you may be out of luck for a place to sit. Tables are self cleared as a matter of being "decent community customers", and they staff a "quick" with table clean up! My 2 egg omelette was excellent but they are stingy with home fries. Baked goods are outstanding..... loved my muffin as a later day treat. read more

I found Jac's on Yelp and the reviewers weren't wrong! My husband had the Mountain Muffin (which of course I tried) and I had Jac's burrito. So good, so much food, plus the good coffee and a muffin to go.. and all under $20. We've spent more on just coffee. And the people were darling. Great local breakfast spot right in the heart of Winthrop! You order first what you would like off the large chalk menu, and get your food served to you. Jac's has terrific food, friendly ambiance and is priced reasonably. I've been a fan of corned beef hash for over 50 years and Jac's is the best I remember. I occasionally stop by for bagels or muffins. The selection is great and always fresh. Jac's is a hidden gem but worth the drive. What a good breakfast and lunch spot. They have a great variety of sandwiches and awesome breakfast selections. It stinks that I could not eat in here but there is a parking lot across the street to enjoy your breakfast. I had the hash - which was hot, nicely crisp but a bit salty. I like salt so this was a plus for me. Then I had the Spanish Burrito. It was good size and tasty. The thing about this place is that the prices are incredible!! I Love Jac's...... This is the epitome of a home town breakfast place where the staff knows everyone name. I love this place for coffee and takeout breakfast. I go with the Jac's burrito most mornings. Today I went with friends an enjoyed my breakfast at a cozy little table. The food as usual was great! And let me tell you, when dining in, my poached eggs were perfectly cooked as was my corned beef hash and potatoes cooked exactly how I requested. Parking is easy, there is a shared lot directly across the street. Cost is reasonable for the quality, quantity and excellent service received. Basically if your in the mood for great coffee or a fabulous breakfast make your way over to Jac's and enjoy yourself. I give Jac's a Solid 5 Stars. read more

I'm a business traveler and first time customer. I always use Yelp and almost never get led astray. My associate and I ordered a wrap and Reuben. Food was fast and fresh but way too cheap! My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the food. The place has limited seating capacity; it's kind of like a small mom-n-pop breakfast diner cafe. Service was kind and prompt. You know when a place is so good you don't actually wanna review it so you take your sweet time and go as much as you can before the whole world knows about it because there is already a line out of the door before 8am....ya, that's Jac's. Must have items if you can get them: their blueberry muffins. We make every single effort to get here by 7:15am on a Saturday especially when people are visiting so they can try these insane magical joys of a muffin. People rave about them every time without fail. If you are a brat like me and only eat the top of the muffin, you're in muffin heaven :). These are packed with more blueberries than you thought ever possible for a muffin to support. Other favorites include their cinnamon rolls which you may have a little bit more of fighting chance to sample. Additionally their apple crumble with dried cranberries muffin, shocker, also insane. If you're in the mood for a sit down thing, they do a great egg white omelette with whatever veggies and cheese you want along with bacon and crispy potatoes on the side. Though I like the coffee flavors and the variety of iced coffee, not the strongest. I really need to try their breakfast burritos and thai chicken wrap, will report back! I LOVE JACS CAFE! Best breakfast in Winthrop! I come here almost every single morning. They have amazing breakfast wraps and the best roasted flavored ice coffees. I love that all their ice coffee flavors are roasted - no syrup. They have really unique flavors like S'mores, eggnog, pumpkin spice, rainforest, totally nuts, Milky Way, and so many more.
