Great environment but horrible food. I have been here 6 times before making this review. I have had several variations of there specialty pizzas along with their tacos and subs. Every single thing I have had, has been god awful. Their Mac and cheese pizza was dry as hell and had no sauce or cheese to make it better. The tacos were chewy and dry. The margherita pizza I had was slightly doughy compared to most others I've had, which are usually burnt--and it was delicious. I also liked the cheese curds. If I wanted to nitpick, I'd have liked a few more fruit options on the beer menu, but this is the kind of corner joint you'll come back to in Kalamazoo. Waited quite a bit before getting waited on (and there were only 3 filled dining tables when we arrived)Asked for burger no lettuce, no onion--both were on it. Burger was overcooked and husband's bacon on BLT was burned. The handicap bathroom! If you have a rollator--plan on having to walk into the bathroom without it! Plus when the door is open, it blocks half the toilet so you can't roll in and leave the door open while going because the toilet isn't accessible with the door open! I was invited here and thought I would try something new and to see how good there Za (pizza) was. To my surprise, all the food I sampled was delicious. Usually, when there is a lot on the menu, the consistency of the food is left out. My food emotions increased, and the dopamine in my brain is made me feel good. I don't live in the area but am in town frequently, and always meet friends at Jac's! The staff is always super friendly and they do a great job of seating our group of friends together, even during busy days like march madness games. The food is pretty good for "bar" food and they run great specials all week long. I wanted to call out a specific experience yesterday. After attempting brunch for 14ppl at another spot in town and failing, several of us suggested we head to Jac's as we were starving (hangry!!) and are always taken care of there. Sundays at Jac's means specials on all my favorites- their thin crust pizza, wings, and a Blood Mary bar! Our group came in around 1:30pm and they were able to seat us all at one big square table where we could see and hear everyone. It was awesome the way the tables were put together for a group (vs one long table where you can only talk to the people next to us.) we are a very social group, and I was visiting from out of town, so this was a nice touch. Adrienne was our server and all I can say is WOW! She was so efficient and on top of everything all while being friendly and keeping a big smile on her face. She grabbed all our drink orders and we had drinks lighting fast. Everyone's food orders and special requests were taken and before I knew it we had all our meals. Their chicken wings are hands down the best in town- I recommend the spicy garlic! It's like a buffalo sauce with an extra flavor kick. We had extra napkins and waters without even asking. She made sure we had our ranch, blue cheese, and whatever condiments or sauces we needed. Our needs were anticipated, which always makes for a great experience dining out! A good server is proactive vs reactive and I really appreciated this. The Sunday Bloody Mary bar was a nice touch as well. A large variety of different mixes and toppings. I've tried a variety of menu items at Jac's - their different dips, queso, nachos, pizza, wings. The nachos are really good. The secret is both melted shredded cheese AND melted queso on top. The salsa has a good smoky/roasted flavor. The thin crust pizza is good every time - classic cheese with sausage is always a winner! Adrienne had asked us right off the bat how we needed the bills handled, and kept everyone's tabs organized and split by singles and couples. We had our tab promptly when we needed to go and everything was correct. This is always a feat in itself, and while is never expected with a large group, is always appreciated! This pizza was amazing! I always think I am not a fan of thin crust, but apparently I am if it's done right! I had the Hawaiian pizza, and it was the perfect mix of sweet and savory and cheesy on that super crispy crust. I have been here before. The food is pretty good. I like to get wings but have gotten to the point that I have to ask for them to be extra crispy so that they aren't bloody in the middle. Tonight I was very disappointed. My waitress was very quick to come over, which was great. I told her I wanted to water and she looks surprised. She did bring me my water. She kept coming by and asking me if I was OK but not asking me if I'd like to order. I sat here for 10 minutes and watched her take orders of other people who came in after me. I left her a dollar tip and walked out. I'm sure I'll still come back here. I generally just like to order my food to go because I'm very busy traveling from client to client and eat while I drive. This definitely isn't a terrible place to go. If you like to watch sports you should try it out. They also have good pizza. read more

One of the better restaurants for football and sports on Westnedge. Its an immediate second to my favorite sports bar W Main Pub on West Main st and the one on Westnedge. Lively atmosphere with screen all around. They also have a projector if your dining on the opposite side of the bar. Parking is a challenge as the lot is plaza combined. They serve your generic American bar food (pizza, burgers, wraps, and apps). I tried their chicken wrap, their regular burger, and their sweet potato waffle fries. The food and service was okay. I keep going back hoping it will get better. The server has an attitude from the second she came to our table. I ordered a simple cheeseburger MEDIUM - it came out rare. Waitress finally came to check on us and asked how the food was. I said my burger came out rare not medium she gave me a grunt and an eye roll save walked away. I asked for mayo when my food came out and again when she was walking away from the eye roll incident. After I had eaten most of my food she came and plopped a little cup of mayo on the table. I thanked her, she glared at me and walked away. I asked for a refill as she was walking past, and the bill.. finally got those too still with attitude. I don't need to go here again. Jac's is one of my favorite unique places to eat when I'm in the Kalamazoo/Portage area. I've had crab rangoon appetizers, which are excellent. The pizza is unlike any others around - crispy/crunchy crust, a bit on the greasy side (which isn't necessarily an insult), light on the sauce and heavy on the toppings. The garlic cheese pizza is fantastic, and the Jac's Special is a smorgasbord of my favorite toppings. My wife loves the Italian beef sandwich double dipped in au jus. We have tried the lasagna and pasta with meatballs, but honestly I thought the pasta tasted a bit mushy (overdone) and the sauce was bland, as though they're cooking for people who are scared of flavor. The wings are mediocre - good sauce options, but not all that meaty and a bit over-cooked the last time I had them. We have dined in a few times, and the staff was especially kind and entertaining for our kids. More often, I've carried out and the pizza is always piping hot. The price is right, too - we fed a group of 7 last night and spent less than $50. read more

I have always wondered who Jac is and where is the K? Is it Jackie? Or Jacqueline? Also, how is it that it is really called "Jac's Cekola's Pizza." I have never seen that on any signs or advertisements until I used the google machine... also, I am not an English' major but' that seems' like' a lot of' apostrophes. Okay, let's not get sidetracked. Party of 3, pretty simple order (olive burger, shared app, Monte Crisco, and a wrap of some sort). Once seated, it took a little bit for our waiter to show up... that is okay, we were in no hurry. We ordered 3 waters, 3 drinks, and a shared app (pretzels). Our waiter (who we will now call Tim) also let us know that he would not be our waiter for the night, it would be (I forget her name, but we will call her) Nancy and assured us she would be right over. After a while, Tim delivered our waters and said our app would be out soon. He noticed we didn't have our drinks and said he would take a look into that situation. After a while longer, out came our drinks and app at the same time (and trust me when I say, it is not because they app came out super-fast). After almost finishing our round of drinks our food was delivered, and then a few minutes later, guess who showed up: Nancy. Basically, at this point to ask if we needed anything else and find out how our food was tasting. The food, FYI, was fine. After we had all finished eating, Nancy showed back up and offered to get our check... about 10 minutes later she showed back up. Also, I am not being a baby about this... it was some serious wait time and before you get all up in arms, Nancy wasn't that busy... she was walking around the room the entire time... she obviously just hated us for sitting their patiently and not complaining. One other thing should be noted. Remember our friend Tim from earlier? Good dude. About 10 minutes after we arrived, a couple came in and sat in T Dog's section (lucky them). Not only did they get their water, drinks and food before we did, they got some serious 1:1 time with my man Timmy. I am not certain that he ever left their table. I am guessing the couple was there on a date of some sort... but T Rizzle basically never left their table and at one point was leaning on it with his elbows chatting them both up. The young lady got up, went to the bathroom, and left T Stain there with her man, and he was still there when she CAME BACK FROM THE BATHROOM. I am not joking, for basically the entire meal... had I not been so distracted/fascinated by this, I totally would have been way more irritated about my wait time. The service was good, not too attentive and not too distant. The cheese on the nachos was just slightly undercooked (just not melted all the way) but other than that, they were great. I only have been to Jac's once, and it was surprisingly good. I had little expectation going in, thinking it might just be just like another main-street pub like bar with common bar food - and it was was somewhat close to that but the quality was pretty good. The place is pretty casual and would be a good place to go watch the game on a sports day. It looks like it can get pretty busy during peak-hours - and it was the time I went with friends, but they seated and served us very quickly. Our server was pretty friendly although a bit rushed - but he was quick, attentive, and we got our food with no issue. The menu is very simple. Pizza, Burgers, Sandwiches, Appetizers, and Drinks seem to be the main things that they have, pizzas seeming to be their main push item. I personally went with a sandwich - the tacon ( turkey, avacado, bacon, cheese, paprika aioli ). It was an excellent sandwich - it was just a sandwich but it was well balanced and nicely toasted, pannini style. The sandwich wasn't rocket science but the paprika aioli that they add really made the sandwich pop and added a refreshing zing I haven't had in other sandwiches like it. The selection of food at Jac's seems to be very limited, but what they do have - they seem to do very well. All the food at my table looked good and everyone enjoyed their meals. The prices at the end were also reasonable. In Summary: I really enjoyed Jac's and would be happy to go back for another sandwich or a beer if I am looking for a nice casual time out with friends. read more

We were told someone would be out right away. 20 minutes later we call back and speak to someone else. 5 minutes later some woman with a long blonde ponytail and hat came out and basically chucked the food into the truck.
