    Steak bites

Went there after a hockey game and walked right in on a Saturday night. It was a little later, 8pm. Server was great, food was very good. The onion rings are HUGE. Delicious but a little greasy. I had steak bites, a January feature, which were cooked perfectly at medium, and cream of mushroom soup. My husband had pizza which he said was good. We took home a slice of the olive oil citrus cake (a January feature). Beautiful historic building. Well done.

We stopped here randomly on a girls trip and fell in love. I had a chicken sandwich with fried green tomatoes that were both delicious. The homemade potato chips were served hot with French onion dip and were enough for four people. Great beer. I got the porter.

Tonight we sat outside and got to enjoy live music along with our meals! We split the August feature of fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. They were delicious and made us think of being in the south! We split the BBQ Cobb salad which was really filling and had great toppings. To end the night, we split the peach crisp skillet and it was absolutely out of this world!! Our server was great and kept our drinks and plates full all evening. Wonderful experience :)

Best Fried Green Tomatoes we've ever experienced -- and we've lived in the South for 35 years! Great service -- very pleasant, patient and attentive. Setting is in an older structure that served as a former church decades ago. The business has been open about ten years and thrives today based on good service, robust farm-to-table entrees & extended brew menu. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. We both enjoyed our main dishes -- juicy cheeseburger & BBQ sandwich.

Stop for a beer and quick snack. Sat at the bar and had great service. We both ordered a Fruitridge Wheat and we shared an order of delicious fresh made Cajun pork rinds with ranch dressing. Looking forward to return to try more things for lunch soon.

Great service. Quick food and beer. Enjoyed the atmosphere- wasn't too loud and the dining room was full. Will be back again.

Wow! The spinach salad with Michigan dried cherries and fresh peaches was absolutely incredible as was the seasonal turkey burger and homemade, hand cut fries! This is how food should be done! Excellent service and neat atmosphere! Highly recommend!

Usually love the food. Today I had their new pork taco. Not good. Pork was mushy, really no flavor. Was sad. The chips and dip was great!

It took a while to actually get our drinks. So we ordered our meal before the rest of family got there. The place was a large room with tables big enough for a family. It was fairly loud as there was nothing to stop the sound from surrounding tables. The order came fairly quickly, and the rest of the family got there. Their drinks didn't take too long. And we got our smash burger and pizza. The burger was good the pizza however was very different. There was no green at all but plenty of veggies. The crust was nice and the pizza it tasted ok. Our grandson had a hot dog of the child's menu which was pretty large .and the other couple shared a chicken salad. Their food was also good. The prices seemed in line with most other places in town. Not pricey by any means. All in all an OK place to eat for a family.

To the east of Chinn Chinn in the same building, Main Street has three sections: a dining room with…read morebooths and tables (for groups up to 10), a room set aside for very large groups (greater than 10), and a bar with numerous TVs lined up high on the walls. This last is the largest of the three rooms. There is sufficient separation that bar noise doesn't seem to filter much into the other two rooms. Five of us, all from the same work setting, and a couple of partners (including my girl) met tonight for our annual holiday meal. We had not called beforehand with a reservation, but the staff put together a couple of tables for us without complaint. We were struck by how crazily huge the menu was. That is usually a giveaway that the bulk of what the kitchen puts out will be at best middle of the road, with few winners. And after we ate, that was the consensus of the group: that there were no disasters among the seven meals ordered, but there were also no outright screaming winners. Among the things ordered tonight were a Reuben Sandwich, an open faced Tuna Melt, Grilled Salmon with rice pilaf and green beans, a Chicken Ranch Melt ("a grilled chicken breast topped with house made Ranch dressing, bacon, Monterey Jack cheese...on a toasted sourdough"), a Patty Melt ("topped with sautéed onions and Swiss cheese then sandwiched between two pieces of toasted pumpernickel"), and something called "The Bronco Burger" ("topped with BBQ sauce, crisp bacon, melted Cheddar cheese and finished with haystack onions"). We had several orders of Onion Rings as appetizers. Of those, only the Chicken Ranch Melt, the fries that accompanied several of the sandwiches, and the White Chicken Chili (which came with the Grilled Salmon dinner) got thumbs up. The remainder of the food (with maybe two exceptions, see below) was deemed as inoffensively bland and forgettable. My girl thought the onion rings, covered in an industrial coating of cornmeal and flour, were the most repulsive. I thought the supposedly home made Ranch dressing that accompanied the onion rings was an affront to ranches everywhere. Good Ranch dressing should have overtones of garlic paste, parsley, dill, chives, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, vinegar, paprika, cayenne, buttermilk, and the hot sauce of your choice (optional). Main Street's had none of this. Good Ranch dressing should convey a tang or a gentle bite. This was just a pearly white combo of toothless mayonnaise and sour cream and no more. Service was perfectly acceptable. Our server, Alyssa, took good care of us. We ordered no alcohol so I cannot judge how well the bartender makes a drink. In summary, it's a bar that makes and sends out bar food. Sometimes you might want to go to a bar to drink and eat anonymous food because the wait at the nearby Asian Fusion restaurant is too long. Maybe you want to watch from a dozen TV screens without being able to understand the content of any of them. Maybe the very phrase "Asian Fusion" is just too provocative relative to the food you stuff in your cheeks. Maybe you own a truck. In any of those cases, go the Main Street, order the Chicken Ranch Melt with fries, and get a bowl of the deliciously piquant White Chicken Chili.

A 4 indicates that it's good and I will definitely be back. Food: was pretty good leaning slight closer to more authentic Mexican food than many of similar places in Portage and Kalamazoo. Our table had a burrito, salad, and street tacos. Everyone seem to enjoy the quality and taste. See attached picture of my Burrito Ranchero. The included guacamole, picante, and sour cream are extremely small. Service: expected a little more responsiveness. It wasn't really busy for a Monday dinner seating. But many of our extra requested food items ie fresh jalapenos, cheese, and salsa came later with meal getting cold. Our server had no sense of urgency or hospitality. Atmosphere: We liked the seating which was private enough to have an enjoyable conversation but open enough to observe other around us enjoying themselves. Overall a very pleasant clean place with a warm fun vibe.
