So I bought a Groupon of this salon to get a haircut and partial highlights. The Groupon was for $67, which included both the haircut and highlights. But after discussing which color and haircut I wanted, Jad told me that he is charging me $50 more as my hair was "long"! Like common, $50 extra for a few inches of extra hair! Groupon has not mentioned this anywhere. What's the point of using a Groupon if the salons can charge whatever they want based on some excuse. I am not at all happy with this kind of treatment, so anyone of you out there visiting Jad with a Groupon, be ready to be charged extra! read more

I went into this salon looking for a new stylist since Im not from this area using a groupon. The owner Jad talked me into cutting my hair chin length since he wanted to make it more healthy. Granted my hair was down to the middle of my back. I was up for it! A complete change, perhaps I would look cute and modern. Guess again. He cut my hair with no bangs, no texturing, no layering. I look like a boy! I expressed to him how upset I was and he responded with a complimentary offer on my next visit. He cant fix how much he chopped off my hair and I came in asking for a long bob. Not only is he a magician with our hair problems, he has also has been accommodating with our inflexible schedules. We have always been very happy with our haircuts, color and highlights! I went to Jad Kattan salon based on the positive reviews on YELP. Mr. Kattan, the owner of the salon was my stylist. Unfortunately it was not a good experience. I wanted a hair cut & one color. What I got was a lousy color and his complaint about amount of "product" he needed for my hair. And the cut....he did not cut as I asked but as he "felt" I should have it cut. Basically he did a trimming. I had bought a Groupon for 67.00 & ended up paying an extra $25.00 because I have such thick hair (his words). People, I paid this pretentious fastidious little man $92.00 for a very poor job. I am African American. He did a lousy job. He didn't even wash my hair thoroughly and then complained about my using gel & making it hard to wash my hair I don't & never have used any kind of "gel" ....don't know what he's talking about. I went last week, and felt ripped off. After a cut and blow dry Jad told the front desk girl to charge me $65. I then went home and checked their website for pricing, as I thought that was expensive for the suburbs (that's what I used to pay on Oak St in Chicago). Their online menu says a woman's hair cut is $55! My hair is medium length, there was nothing special about my trim. In fact Jad actually cut way too much off. I'm not happy with the cut nor the price, won't be returning. read more

Went for a style & color. Had a personal consultation with Jad who asked a lot of questions & our communication was very clear on my goal. He personally shampooed me & we discussed pricing & services again. I decided with the price he quoted me & the condition & length of my hair to go for both. Iwas there quite awhile. Toni actually did my color & style but worked as a team with Jad. End result I loved the finshed look! I definitely will go back & recommend them. This is the first time I actually got exactly the style I wanted! Jad & Toni know their stuff. Communication is key, dont be afraid to speak up & say what your lifestyle is & what works best for you. Jad did my color and cut this past Saturday morning. Mine was the first appointment of the day, and I was in the chair right on schedule. It was my first time at the salon, and Jad's consult was thorough and friendly; I enjoyed being in his chair for the two hours I was there. The time he spent carefully matching my natural color paid off; I couldn't be more pleased with the result. As for the cut and style, the layers add a lot of texture and movement and the blowout was beautifully done. No iron, no heavy products, just a little bit of oil in his palm and my hair looked beautiful all day. I worked here and not only does he steal money from ur last paycheck but he lies and gives u a hard time. The last receptionist still hasn't received her paycheck and she quit a week ago... BE AWARE!!!! He lied about advertising and how busy his salon was I lost clients because of this place. As a client unless u do the same hair style over and over example, highlights and a long layer cut then feel free to be over charged if u are looking for a stylish, up beat, and up to date stylist this is not the place for u. No new business unless it's a free haircut ! I'm writing this bcuz if I would have read a review like this I would have not wasted time. Sincerely the service u receive is not worth the money. I went to this salon with a groupon. The owner of the salon worked on my hair. The groupon was for an all over color or highlight with a cut. I have used groupons for hair salons in the past and never had the experience I had at this salon. The owner told me I needed an all over color as well as a highlight and I had to pay more on top of my groupon. I explained I was not looking to pay extra. He stated he will do just the partial highlight, but I need to be well aware I was crippling the level of work he could achieve on my style if I did not pay an up charge. He continued to state over and over again that he would not have made the same choice if he were me because my hair will not look perfect. When all was said and done, I thought my hair looked nice, but he continued to tell me the up charge for an all over color would have made my hair "look better" if I agreed to it. He also told me how frizzy my hair was and tried to push his product while I explained I was not interested in purchasing more. He also asked what I did for a living and continued to tell me how his career was more difficult than mine because he had to work with people everyday. I was insulted, but didn't want to speak up since he had bleach near my hair. At the register he told me since my hair is long, he would normally charge a person like me extra, but would do me a favor this one time and not charge an additional fee. I walked out of the salon thinking my hair looked fine, but my self esteem was in the gutter. read more

I've never written a negative review before, but had such a bad experience at this salon, that I felt compelled to write a review. I purchased a groupon after recently moving to the area and looking for a new salon. The individual who greeted me, who I assume was the owner, barely acknowledged me when I walked in and didn't even introduce himself, which I felt was rude. After looking at my hair, he informed me that he couldn't do a partial hight light, as he said that I needed a corrective color. I've been doing the same thing to my hair for years, so what he said to me didn't make sense. He told me to fix it it would cost upwards of $200 and suggested I try to go back to groupon to get my money back. Not good customer service at all, and I personally have never been treated so poorly by a salon before. I would not recommend this salon to anyone. I have since gone to another salon and paid full price for a partial, which turned out great. read more

Been going to Jad for about 3 years now ... my hair has never looked so good. It's smooth and shiny and healthier than ever. Jad doesn't do anything just for the money - it's always what is best for my hair. He knows hair and he knows what he is doing. Sure it costs a bit more than a super cuts, obviously, but a $20 haircut looks like ... a $20 haircut. You are paying for experience, customer service, and a true professional stylist. read more
