I never leave bad reviews but Zano just lost a 5+ yrs client because of the horrible treatment my son & I just received. I've been trying to call to complain to a manager but they're not picking up the phone. So they more than deserve this bad review. I have no idea why I stayed at this salon for long. I go to this location and the one downtown Naperville. Their turnover is absolutely horrendous. They don't have enough tenured stylists, so booking an appointment with one takes weeks to schedule. Whenever I find a stylist I like they end up quitting. I called today saying i would be 15 minutes late for my sons haircut and asked if they could still take us. I would have totally understood if they said no. They told me to still come in. We got there exactly at the time I said I'd be there and they turned us away. Not okay. I already told them on the phone my husband was in the hospital. Not okay to screw with someone's day ever, but especially when they're in the middle of a family crisis. read more

Kasta did Keratin on my hair! He did great! He is calm and doesn't yap rubbish conversation like other stylist. It's not a bar where you tell your life stories to your stylist. I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience at Zano. I appreciate all the COVID safety measures they have put in place. The front desk staff was a bit rude on my arrival but not a big deal. My haircut was the big issue for me. I have always been able to count on zano for a great haircut. The stylists have always been able to take what I am looking for and translate that into a beautiful haircut. This time, I brought in pictures of what I wanted my cut to look like and I don't think it was translated at all. I asked for long side swept bangs and it turned into choppy pieces similar to the ones I cut for myself in junior high. It's not flattering in the least. What a dream! I'm so conflicted about telling you how amazing Britany is because I want to keep seeing her myself! She helped heal my hands and feet that I had abused in the process of packing, moving halfway across the country and I needed to look my best starting a new position. The cucumber pedi was in a massage chair with hot water, towels, and warmed neck wrap. Then the hot paraffin mani. I finally decided to get rid of my "COVID hair" and came to Zano for a men's haircut with Julie. I normally do not enjoy the awkward small talk during my haircuts in the past, but talking with Julie was a true joy! She told me about her kids, her career at Zano, and asked me about my life too! The best part was that I mentioned wanting to go to an Asian market while I was in the area, and she recommended me a nearby recently opened market which was amazing. I showed Julie a picture of the haircut I wanted for 3 seconds and she was able to perfectly recreate it for me, which is a first in my haircut experiences. Another first was that Julie was so considerate in shaving my neck and handling my hair that I left with no irritation and never felt like I was being yanked around by her. I love this salon. When I moved here from the city (I went to Michael Anthony there) I didn't know where to go - my stylist said to try Zano. I've been there for 3 years. I finally found somone to do my pedicure's, haircut, color, and staightening all in one! I have become good friend's with my pedicurist, and yes, there are different people that do different things, because they specialize in that area. Would you want a pedicurist coloring your hair and not your nails? It's a while from my home, but I make the trip every time. The prices are cheaper than what I paid in the city, but yes, they are not "cheap". I have had many compliments on everything I do there. read more

Kosta did a great job on my haircut and keratin treatment. I highly recommend him. He is kind and friendly, but he didn't feel the need small talk with me the whole time which I really appreciate as an more of an introvert. He was polite, and he really took his time and seemed to be a meticulous stylist. He was quiet, courteous, and attentive. I was in and out in about an hour which was nice. I totally agree with Katie S., Allison is the best colorist I've ever had. She always has suggestions and somehow treads that fine line between knowing what will look best and caring about my input. I always feel welcome and comfortable at Zano's (the complimentary neck and shoulder massages are the best). My tween daughter was apprehensive about cutting her long, lovely hair - but she was getting lost behind it all. Within moments of meeting Kayleigh, she was put at ease and they talked about what she does in her life and how she likes to wear her hair. Kayleigh kindly included me in the conversation and asked about convenience and daily styling. Kayleigh, sensing that my kiddo was nervous about too much coming off, offered to wash and dry her hair and then cut it - that way, there wouldn't be any post-cut shrinkage after it dries. Now my daughter was excited and ready to go. After lopping off several inches and gently layering it, my daughter hugged Kayleigh and thanked her for her new 'do. Very bad experience. I went for Root touch up. Had an appointment with Selena.She seemed to be less focused. I wanted to get highlights done too, however she seemed to be less interested, not sure why???She washed the hair very bad. When I got home , my whole scalp was itching and all color was coming on my fingers and nails. I had to wash my hair again. After paying so much in an expensive salon. When they closed I was able to keep going to my same stylist at the Ogden location. When she left, she referred me to Andrea, who I have been seeing for the past four years or so. I have been coming to this salon and Zano's in general for almost twenty years. I live in California now and still make an appointment everytime I am back in Naperville for a visit. That is until now. I had my hair dyed and the girl just put the dye in with no regard for neatness and then left my chemical soaked hair to lay around my face and neck. The next day my neck, ears and face were covered with burns and a rash. After going back in to the salon to show them all they said was to buy hydrocortisone cream. No refund, no gift card for inconvenience, nothing!!! Please tell your stylist to get your hair off your neck so a similar situation doesn't happen to you! read more

When I arrived the day of my consultation the colorist Lauren did consult with me but then said she couldn't take me because she had appts after. She was nice, I was just disappointed that when I called and booked that they changed it without notifying me. read more

So I decided to try Zano because I had some SpaFinder cards to use and an upcoming trip to get ready for. I called 2 days in advance and got appointments for a manicure, pedicure and a few waxing services. The receptionist was very nice and helpful in answering the questions I had about scheduling and products they use. I arrived for my appointment today and was greeted with a smile. I was taken back by Yvette for my pedicure and manicure. Yvette was a great lady. Easy to talk to, just a nice person. She also did a great job on my manicure and pedicure. The only thing I can say I was disappointed in was that I didn't get the complimentary neck and shoulder massage that I was SO looking forward to. The new client form I filled out even says that if it was not given or offered to you they would give you 50% off of your nail or hair service. The last service I received was a bikini and eyebrow wax with Amy. The eyebrows went fine, quick and easy. The bikini was really quick as well but after I got home, I noticed some bruising. I have never bruised after getting a bikini wax. I'm going to be on a beach in Mexico in 48 hours, with a bruised bikini line. Nice. All in all, Zano was good. Pricey, but good. The $65 pedicure was overpriced for sure. Maybe if that neck massage had been included I'd feel differently. And speaking of, I never did get that 50% off of my nail service the new guest form said I'd get if it wasn't offered. I did mention it when checking out and all the girl at the front said was, "Oh, I'm sorry. I'll have to look into why that happened". read more

I researched for months, because I'm really nervous about cutting my long curly locks. I wanted to get shorter hair so I researched everywhere to go the right salon. I chose Zano because of the great reviews here, and I really don't care about the cost as long as it's well done. I'm glad that others had a great experience, but I can only speak for mine, and as you can see in the rating it wasn't just bad... it was miserable. One word: Mullet. So, I come in, everyone was nice which is great. I told the stylist what I wanted and she mentioned things that sounded really good, like making sure it's layered, it was going to frame my face great (I have a round face) etc. I like giving creatives freedom to do what they think best - I apply this everyone, including wedding suppliers, hairstylists, colorist, makeup artists, etc. because I feel it produces better work. So the lady turned my chair away from the mirror, and started cutting my hair. When she was done, she excitedly turns me around and says "Do you like it?". I was flabbergasted. My hair was layered in front in a very uneven way. So I sit there quietly and she excitedly tells me to look at the back. She turns me around, gives me a mirror and I say "Ummm... is it me or is the hair un-even?". And she says (with a giggle), "Yeah, I think you're right about that". When I say uneven I mean the left side of my hair looks like a rectangle on it's side, and the right side of my hair looks like a rectangle standing up straight. So while I was looking she proceeds to cut the back of my hair - making the ends completely straight at the bottom. COMPLETELY straight, and while I laud her for her ability to keep her hands from shaking - I LOOKED LIKE A COMPLETE DORK. Her version of layering was cutting upper hair shorter (like 3 inches short) so I have a little poofy bump at the back. :( So, I have a strange mullet, with badly layered front locks, ramrod straight ends at the back and a poofy top. I guess she saw the panic in my face because she offered to fix it, she said. "I mean, it's your hair, you should like it". She's a really nice lady, but i can't help but feel that if you're an artist - you would not, i repeat NOT let your clients go out of the salon looking like that. And I just can't believe she thought that looked good at all. Maybe it was a cruel joke, I don't know. So I gave her an idea about a hairstyle that may look good. She kept cutting, and I kept correcting because it really looked bad :( At the end, I just said. Ok cool, it looks better now, and almost ran away. If she corrected it more, I would've gone bald. I'm just waiting for my hair to grow now so I can have someone else fix it. :( So sad. It's embarrassing to go to the office. Other things that I would have just let go (and not bother to write a review about) if I got a good haircut, but is actually really bad: 1. The stations were really dirty. They sweep and all that, but they don't dust the mirrors and the shelves. It was really unkempt. 2. The towels she used on me didn't look fresh :( It seemed like it was used to wipe something else previously then hastily folded and dumped on the table. 3. They were supposed to give a massage during the shampoo, and even a complimentary shoulder massage (as indicated in their website) but they never did (didn't even offer). 4. There was barbicide displayed, but I don't think they were using it. 5. I had hair all over my body because she doesn't know how to use that apron thingy. She kept moving it around :( I had to go to dinner after, and was really late because I need to go home and change. I do hope what happened to me doesn't happen to anyone else. read more

Questionable mens cuts. I went three times. The first cut was at the downtown location and was good... The second cut was horrible and done by the same person at the downtown location (she didn't listen to what I wanted)... I gave one more chance but went to the strip mall location and it was an epic failure. They put me with some girl who was just out of training - the cut blew and the conversation was worse. Very uncomfortable experience from A-Z. Not the type of cut you expect from a salon and I won't be back. read more

I was sad to hear that the Downers Grove closed, but I was ecstatic to find CHRISTOPHER at the Ogden Ave location! Christopher is the most amazing stylist that I have ever been to! He knows exactly what to do to make my hair beautiful with the amazing precise layers I love. I get so many compliments on my hair now and it's all thanks to Christopher!
