After moving to NW Omaha, my husband and I have struggled to find a decent Chinese restaurant (we were spoiled in Bellevue). This place came highly recommended from several coworker's so we decided to give it a shot. I called in a take out order on a weeknight and was not impressed with the person taking our order. They were not friendly and they seemed like I was an annoyance. I was told food would be ready in 10 minutes and this should've been my first warning sign. When my husband brought home our order of Peanut Butter Chicken and Crab Rangoon, I was excited to dig in. Upon opening the box we found a decent amount of food however the chicken was in tiny little pieces, the sauce was runny and it lacked the nice crunchy breading. After a couple bites I came to the conclusion that it wasn't going to get any better no matter how much I tried to like it. The chicken was not white meat and it was unbelievably chewy. We ended up throwing it away and eating sandwiches for dinner instead. The Crab Rangoon was decent but nothing special. I really don't understand all the good reviews and recommendations from my coworkers. This is possibly some of the worst Chinese I've had in the city. read more

I've been coming her since 1991. I averaged about 50 times a year. In those 1,300 meals that I have had, only 3 meals weren't cooked perfect. As you can tell this is one of my favorite places to eat. You can't beat the speed of food, taste and price. 5 stars all the way. read more

I love Jade Garden. They're fast, their peanut butter chicken is my favorite thing on the menu, and you get a lot for what you pay for. They started catering my company a few years back, which is how I discovered them, but when they stopped, I decided I still needed my PB Chicken fix. I go a few times a month now. The service was great and they brought out the food within 10 minutes of ordering. I ordered the sesame chicken and it came out hot and steamy. the "chicken" had barely any chicken in it. it was all breading and little chicken. the rice was super good. the rice is what made the meal worth paying. while i was eating i was then asked twice within a minute apart if everything tasted okay. me being the person who doesn't like to make people feel bad said yes. it if someone asked me one more time i would have asked for new chicken because it tasted like only breading and sauce. read more

Great little hole-in-the-wall chinese restaurant. They have raised prices recently, and went from insanely cheap food, to average prices. Still a decent value compared to chain restaurants though. I love how every meal receives two crab rangoons. My favorite meals are the peanut butter chicken and the kung pao chicken. If you have never tried peanut butter chicken - get it a least once. It uses the same chicken as a typical sweet and sour (the breaded kind) and covers it with a sweet peanut butter glaze. VERY tasty. The only reason they lost a star was the recent price increase. Disappointed every time. The chicken is seriously so gross. Looking at it, it looks like something they picked off of the left behinds of other chicken pieces and the texture is "rubbery." It doesn't look appetizing which counts for something. Appearance is everything in terms of food. Lo mein looks good, but is incredibly greasy. Soup is decent. Price is adequate. Jade Garden is my favorite Chinese food in Omaha. I can't give them a 5 (because my all-time favorite Chinese place is in another city), but they are still pretty darn good. I highly recommend the Crispy Chicken (I like to add vegetables to it). It's your basic garlic-spicy breaded chicken and I get it every time. Their service is always very fast and courteous, which boosts them up to one of my favorite carry-out spots in town. Also they are good about answering questions about the food. Let's face it, the majority of Chinese food descriptions sound pretty similar, but when asked they are great about being more specific so you can get something you're really going to enjoy. If I want cheap Chinese food, this is my top pick. I used to work and live very close to the restaurant and would frequently order take out. They give you a generous amount of food for a great price. The first time we went here I liked it.. My beef and broccoli was good. Everything was hot. The prices were unbelievable. But it was too good to be true. The second time I ordered Kung Pao Chicken. I'm not sure who was cooking but I know how to make that. Like actually Chinese Kung Pao Chicken and that was not Kung Pao Chicken. It was chicken in a white sauce. Not even good chicken. A handful of peanuts. Poor quality vegetables. Well it was hot. When you screw up something that basic I'm not likely to give you a second shot. read more

This place is great. The food is fast and delicious. I have a large family. We usually order meals and share. They accomodate us as much as possible. I have tried most items on the menu. Best Mongolian beef in town! I've been trying restaurants all over the Omaha area for a place that made it like my favorite place when I was a kid and I finally found it! Not overly sweet, the beef was very tender, not too many onions and with just the littlest bit of spice. The fried dumplings were excellent as well. I'm glad I live only a couple of miles away as I'm sure I'll be there regularly. read more

The people that write reviews on here try only the blandest things. Do you really think Chinese people have a dish called "Kung Pao Chicken?" No, you fool. If you're not willing to try something that isn't in "brown sauce" I don't think that you can critique the chefs. In response to Katrina R.'s post, the egg drop soup tastes fishy because it has shrimp in it. I've been coming here for years and the service is always great. I've never had anything less than excellent experience. The cooks will do just about anything for you. They will change any detail for you and cook it just for you. I've seen people with the longest, pickiest order and they always leave smiling. This is a family business and they're very reasonably priced. (Everything is expensive these days so you can't ask them to be as cheap as they were 10 years ago) They obviously have a lot of kids from the pictures on their special board. They have to send them to college, you know. I miss their peanut butter chicken and their veggie egg foo yong. They always made it how I wanted it and it was always delicious. read more

I get mad when goes there without me .one time my granny surprised me with my favorite dish sesame chicken and I was so happy. Run, don't walk in the opposite direction!! This used to be a great restaurant many years ago but the owners clearly have gotten lazy with success and the result is a disgusting mess. Tonight, we ordered three meals for a late dinner: one order had a bug, another had a PUBIC HAIR (with a huge hair follicle still attached!) and the soup from the third meal had a huge chunk of gelatinous wonder slime. I would recommend going anywhere else but Jade Garden -- let some other business owner become successful on clean, delicious food instead of Jade Garden's disgusting mess. read more

I admit that I went there long ago but when I did, it was not a good experience at all. Yes, it was inexpensive (though I've heard prices have increased) but the low price is the only advantage I can think of about the place. I had a dead fly in my food (Broccoli Chicken) and when I brought it to their attention, they just kind of shrugged and walked away. They didn't offer a replacement meal nor a discount or anything of the sorts. I was there with my mom, who LOVES Chinese food, and even she didn't like her food and of course, after she saw what happened to me, she couldn't eat another bite. I have not been back since. due to a lunch snafu of my own making, I stopped in for a quick carryout order of general tso's and was thrilled there were carryout parking spaces in front since it was during "lunch rush" my chicken entrée came with fried rice and two crab Rangoon and I purchased an eggroll. for the amount of food I received ( full rice and chicken in the container enough for tomorrow's lunch) it was right at $9. I was impressed with Jade Garden and I am not so much picky when it comes to Chinese even though I've had Chinese food in Los Angeles ( the good) and Kansas City ( the bad). but I do want things to be tasty like any food. I more look at was the meal fresh made with quality ingredients, with Jade Garden I can say yes now to that question. I also wish I would have gone there sooner! as for the place, very nice I would like to dine in there, and friendly counter staff and fast food. before I knew it my order was ready and I was back to the office.. the food was delicious. all of it. the Rangoon and eggrolls were delicious, and the general tsos was outstanding and just want I wanted, I also liked their fried rice. Mediocre at best. I am eating their Kung Pao chicken as I type this. It is lower-quality food and really lacks flavor. I needed to dump some Sriracha hot sauce on it to make it palatable. The service was fine for carryout and they were fast. However, there are a ton of Chinese places to choose from, so I likely won't be choosing this one again. This was one of the worst Chinese food experience i have ever had. The sauce is like slime in all three orders we got! (sesame chicken, broccoli beef, and braised pork). the review below mine sums it up well, a mucusy slime, thick and gel-like. the sesame chicken flavor was good though, the beef had a weird and dry taste, and the pork tasted like sweet and sour even though it was supposed to be spicy! We also ordered egg drop soup, which was thick, white broth, had carrots and chicken in it! There was nothing wrong with the original egg drop soup most restaurants carry, there was no need to change it!! It tasted terrible! the egg roll I thought was disgusting, my mom liked it though. the shrimp toast was just the cherry on top of this sundae of nasty food! it was hard, and just plain gross, I couldn't even force myself to take more than two bites. The top of it had a thick rubbery hard shrimp topping, that was hard to even bite into and the toast underneath it was thin and too greasy. The two good things I can say, is that it is fast and cheap. I don't know if fast is necessarily a good thing because it could be pre-made. The crab Rangoon are average, it is nice that two come with your meal. I would save your time and spend a few more bucks somewhere else, there are plenty of better Chinese places in omaha. read more

This was my first time...and last. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken. None of the usual veggies or peanuts appeard in this version. It was maked as HOT, but only the few red peppers were hot. They didn't flavor the dish at all and the sauce was bland, as was the fried rice. The "chicken" was some kind of sliced processed meat like a turkey roll - bad! The hot tea was lukewarm. My friend had the Sesame Chicken and it came in bite-sized chunks, but not one veggie. Food was bad, Got the garlic chicken, the chicken was chewy like if you were eating Tou Foo. The garlic sauce was slimy and no flavor at all. Asked for plain Lo Mein but they did not understand what that was. Normally plain Lo Mein is flavored with dark soy sauce, bean sauce and so on but was given boiled noodles??? Service was good, however when you asked too many questions it seemed to bother the workers. This was not authentic food tasted more like if you purchased "so called" Chinese food in a bag from the store and cooked it yourself. read more
