We recently had the opportunity to visit Palm Springs for a few days. My wife and I brought our own…read moree-bikes along, and so we followed the local bike trails that we knew. For lunch we made a stop at Sherman's Deli which shouldn't be missed. Upon starting our 6 mile ride back to the hotel, we discovered that one of our bikes had a rear flat tire. It's always the rear, isn't it? What could be harder to change than a rear flat on a 65 lb e-bike, assuming I had brought a wrench. I could have ridden back solo, brought back the car and bike rack, picked up the broken bike and then drove back to the hotel. But, then we'd still have a bike with a flat with a few more days left in our trip. (sigh)... Hoping for the best, we did a Google search for bike shops in the area. That's when we found BIKE Palm Springs nearby. They were a bike rental shop, but maybe they'd help us. I rode the working bike over to BIKE PS and asked, and they said "no problem"! About 20 minutes later, Tony had put in a new heavy duty up-graded tube, replacing our thin standard tube that wouldn't hold up to the 'goat heads' that can be found on the trail, and had us ready to go again. We had some time to look their shop over while we waited - great helpful staff, clean shop, and nice well-maintained RAD and Aventon E-bikes. You couldn't ask for much more, we've ridden both in the past and liked them. So a big thank you to Tony and the rest of the staff that helped us at BIKE Palm Springs. You saved our day!

I was in town for Stagecoach and needed a quick solution, and they got everything squared away fast. Last minute, we were calling all the bike stores in town and Dennis was the only one who could help us in such a short amount of time. It was determined that a replacement wheel was not the most efficient solution at the time, so Dennis let my husband rent a bike. He was so helpful and understanding, my husband told him about all of the setbacks we've had so far during our trip to get here and he didn't charge us for the rental. He helped us out when we were out of all other options; so much time, money, and energy was invested by my husband to prepare for the race and Dennis made sure my husband was able to complete it. Thank you Dennis, you are proof that kind, understanding, and thoughtful people exist in this world and we need more people like you. *The store is clean, well organized, friendly staff, and have a good variety of bikes available. UPDATE ...... 2/15…read more Yucaipa Bike Center rocked it and took care of business. I took the bike into the shop and showed them the issues. The immediately apologized and showed legitimate concern and offered take care of the bike and get it back to me as quick as possible. I expected 2-3 days but they reached out to me the next day saying the bike was ready to be picked up. They even offered to extend the service period to 2 years for the inconvenience. Also, the helmet that I got ended up on back order with no expected ship date, so they went to another shop and got one. I have gotten a few rides in now and the bike is working and riding great. Now the rider just needs to get as good as the bike. It is easy to right bad reviews and forget about them. But let me say this, yes, I was very upset and frustrated but Yucaipa Bike Center made it right without excuses and that is the kind of place I want to do business with. Thank You to Yucaipa Bike Center and I look forward to doing business with you for a long time to come. I purchased a new Marlin 6 tonight. Super excited till I got home. I found that the new bike has two rims that are both untrue and the front brake rotor is rubbing. I put the deposit down on Sunday and was told it would be in Tuesday or Wednesday. We will call you as soon as we get it in. I had to call to see if it was in yet. So far not happy with Trek Bikes or Yucaipa Bike Center. Why would you let a bike leave your shop without making sure it was ready and right? I'm seriously considering getting my money back and doing business elsewhere. Customer service does not exist anymore Found another issue last night... I was to frustrated to post last night. The disk brakes aren't even tightened down! Seriously are you kidding me? I'm definitely not very pleased at all. I'lol let you know the final outcome, if they make it right or if I give it back.

DO slow and/or stop and take it in and capture photos and have a great time; 5) at the end you ride back in the van. - - - Brief Background - - - My wonderful wife and I just enjoyed a trip to Pam Desert and San Diego, with a visit to La Jolla. One of the more exciting activities was riding the Earthquake Canyon ride... again! I first rode wit Big Wheel Tours, just me, on one of our trips to Palm Desert back around 2005; then in 2008 or 2009 we enjoyed a family ride, my wife pedaled with our daughter in a pumpkin seat and I pedaled with our son in a pumpkin seat. Now they are both in college so we are traveling, together, just us. On this trip, my wife recommended this ride, and what a recommendation! Even if the weather was not as amazing as it was (clear skies, mid-80s), it would have been a great ride. - - - The Prep - - - All riders meet at the pickup location; we happened to meet in Palm Desert, at the parking lot for Morton's, across the street from the JW Marriott & Marriott Vacation Club's Desert Spring Villas. From there, you're all in the van. Three of us couples rode that day; Ben was our friendly and helpful and knowledgeable guide + chauffeur + chase van driver. Ben is wise about many things, from the weather and geology of the Coachella Valley, and nearby Joshua Tree National Park, to animals including his falconry interest, and much more. Ben is also helpful in getting you ready to ride. The Earthquake ride is through the Box Canyon... It's off I-10, east of the Valley; at the same exit, to the South, as you would take if you were going north to the Joshua Tree Cottonwood National Park Entrance. Ben parks in a safe place and provides the helmets and bikes; they are hybrid bikes with tires thicker than 10-speed road bikes and not as thick as a mountain bike. You share your height when you register, and they bring a couple extras to make sure you have one that fits. The bikes have bottle holders and BWB provides water bottles. And you can leave all things in the van and they will be there when you are picked up; and if you need something you can stop and get it. - - - The Ride - - - A fellow rider was accurate when she shared: biking / cycling / riding is just the right pace... driving is too fast to take in all the beauty of the desert and this canyon, and walking is too slow. So true. So true. The Coachella Valley leads down to the Salton Sea, which is the second-lowest elevation in North America, at -234 feet below sea level; most of places visitors stay in the Valley - Palm Springs, Palm Desert, etc., are ~ 250-450 feet in elevation. The Earthquake Canyon ride starts just over 1,500 feet in elevation and finishes ~ -180 below sea level. On the drive you'll notice the gentle uphill climb along I-10 eastbound. That similar slope is your Earthquake Canyon friend. Ben shared the five sections of the canyon, and each is distinct and readily seen; thanks, Ben for sharing! BWB will pace you in the van, so you can ride at your pace and stop for photos and to take it in. Impressive are the views of the layers of the rock that are tilted by the San Andreas fault, which you ride over! Impressive are the plants growing along the ride. Impressive are the minimal vehicles you'll likely encounter. Toward 15 miles you'll cross over one of the aqueducts that brings water to the farmland that provides so much of our food in the grocery stores, especially the produce we enjoy in the winter. The ride will likely end in Mecca; you'll hand back the helmets and turn in the bikes; you may likely stop by a stand where you can get fresh-cut fruit or something else. - - - The Ride Back - - - BWB will get you to a place with a restroom before the drive back. The ride back helps you see more farmland and some palm tree farms. Soon you're back at the drop-off/pickup spot, and happy for such a great ride.
