Dr. Choi has saved my tooth!! I came to Dr. Choi for second opinion after my endodontics told me that the root canal treatment cannot be completed and recommend me to have tooth implant.  Dr. Choi opened my temporary filing and review the situation. After assessing, he confidently told me, although I did have decay inside the tooth, but it's minimal and the tooth structure is still strong. He told me that he can perform root canal for me and the tooth can be saved, no need tooth implant. The next day, he performed root canal treatment in 1 (one) hour only, usually another endodontics will do it in 1.5hr-2hr. Another bonus point, his numbing injections were very skillful. Root canal. Ugh. Just those two words make people cringe. But Dr. Choi's easy going manner put me at ease. He explained the process and got to work right away. He has a very gentle touch, esp with the needle, and seemed to work very quickly. He even went ahead and scraped the tooth in places that my general dentist missed. Superlative dentist. For months I could eat only from the right side. Dr. Choi did multiple root canals (including a very complex 2+ hour procedure to save my wisdom tooth), fillings and crowns to fix the left side. I was referred here by my dentist, and I'm grateful I was. When I walked in, they asked me to fill out the customary forms, and even though I was having some issues with my insurance, the people working behind the desk were very helpful and called the provider directly to make sure my copay was as low as possible. Also, the guy who took me to the chair to help prep for Dr. Choi was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable; unfortunately, I never caught his name, but all I do remember is that we were the same age (an incredibly old 24) and that he had earrings. I had come for a consultation, and Dr. Choi was very thorough and asked every question he could think of to address the purpose of my visit. Also, during the payment, even though there were the issues with my insurance, he asked the person working at the desk to lower my copay to make sure it was more affordable. Dr. Choi (no relationship to me) is really an amazing endodontist. He's a honest doctor who explains his work clearly and has excellent staff. I went to multiple dentists over the years and had chronic intermittent tooth pain and he was able to finally correctly diagnose and fix the issue. I was pretty worried about pain given the work involved a root canal but he made me feel completely pain free during the entire procedure. Interesting side fact, he is highly regarded amongst the dental community as he is trusted to teach UCSF dental students! I was referred to Dr. Choi's office. He examined the X-ray and very patiently explained lots of questions in my mind and answered my additional questions through emails. He did a thorough job in cleaning and fixing the root canal. I felt quite comfortable in the whole procedure. Highly recommend him! He is specialized in Endodontics with microscope equipped, he could examine in more detail. But if you have crown on top the tooth, he would seal it temporarily. You will need to go back to your primary dentist to permanently seal it. read more

I knew that I needed a root canal treatment for years but have procrastinated. Finally, when I decided to go through with it, I went to Dr. Choi. He places all the cards on the table as he patiently explains to you the pros and cons of you choices and possible outcomes. If there is no need for treatment, he will tell you so. He also got back to me within a couple a hours after I had sent him an inquiry two weeks after my treatment and independently relayed all the necessary info my general dentist who needed to complete the treatment that Dr. Choi started. Amazingly wonderful! I was referred to Dr. Choi from my regular dentist since I needed to see a specialist for my root canal. I was leaving for Israel in the next 4 days and needed to get my tooth treated before I left. I stopped by Dr. Choi's office and he was immediately able to see me on his day off! Can you say LUCKY?! He was extremely informative and told me about the whole process and what to expect. The treatment went smoothly and didn't feel an ounce of pain during the process.
