Be aware of this crucial rule: never consider seeing a doctor who doesn't prioritize post-surgery or post-root canal appointments for their patients. A close friend underwent a crown and root canal procedure with Dr. Wang, but unfortunately, encountered complications. Despite enduring weeks of pain due to an infection within the crown, there was no immediate post-surgery follow-up - instead an appointment has to be scheduled three to four weeks later (might involve another round of crown procedure and $$$$$). My advice? Seek out another dentist. No matter how clean the office, how skilled the dental surgeon, or how friendly the staff, if there's no provision for immediate post-surgery care, it's simply not the way patients should be treated. Got a root canal from here after weeks of dreading it. The entire place is super clean. The equipment is all digital and fancy. The procedure itself was done very well. The doctor and his assistant were both super nice and careful. Took X-rays 2-3 times to make sure everything was cool. I don't have any pain right now. Also I'm a big wuss when it comes to pain from needles - have to say that the doctor managed me well. The one area for improvement is communication. They can communicate a bit more about the procedure and set expectations. I had no idea what to expect - would I get a break, how long would it take etc I hope I don't need another one but if I did I would come back here. read more

I literally just got home from getting a root canal at Dr. Wang's office. He is a rockstar at what he does - if it wasn' t for my bad jaw (which got stuck in place after being wide open the first 15 minutes of the procedure), I think my experience would've been virtually painless. Tip #1 for everyone would be: If you have any pre-existing conditions that you think might interrupt the dentist's work (even if its just anxiety), TELL HIM before the procedure starts! Since I didn't get a chance to tell Dr. Wang about my jaw's tendency to pop, I squirmed with discomfort the first 15-20 minutes and probably slowed down his work. He didn't understand what was wrong until I whipped out my iPhone and typed it out to him. The pain was unbearable and was building up by the second. After he understood what was bothering me, the rest of the procedure was much more comforting. He gave me a total of 4 jaw breaks during my 1.5 hours with him. He kept encouraging me and telling me we were almost finished, that the hardest part was over. He noticeably sped up after he understood my problem, but was still very precise and careful. The temporary crown that he gave me fits perfectly - it feels just like a normal tooth. I've heard horror stories about people getting crowns that are so oversized they can't even close their mouths - so I understand how lucky I am to have one that fits well. I was referred to Dr. Wang by my regular dentist, Dr. Cheng, whose office is next door. Both brilliant dentists, and both, in their own ways, have taught me to take better care of my teeth. Tip #2: Always thank your dentists and their assistants. They had to witness every painful expression on my face because the nature of their work causes that pain, but it was me who didn't take care of myself in the first place. My dentist, Dr. Lee, referred me to see Dr. Wang since my tooth was causing root canal related pain. I went there twice. First time was a consultation for around 15 minutes. Second time was the work itself which lasted for an hour and a half. Did not feel a thing I even fell asleep. Office gave me a sheet to let me know what to do if I have any pains. But nothing. The first impression of the office is clean, new and well-equipped. Dr Wang is very nice, professional and patient; instead of pressuring me to do or sign anything, he's willing to explain everything in details. I just have my root canal done here, everything's good so far; no pain nor swelling. He's highly skillful and humble, when he says it may hurt a little bit, it's really a little. Dr Wang is very personable and his staff was competent. I had a root canal today, my third one. This was By FAR the best root Canal experience I have had. The First two were absolute Torture sessions. Dr Wang was especially careful and paid close attention to my comfort during our session. He did not Rush the job.. took his time and did it right. He was extremely good with the anasthetic and did not tear up my mouth in the process like some other dentists have. His tools were state of the art and well maintained. I was referred to Dr. Wang by my regular dentist Dr. Ellen Peng in Cupertino for a Root Canal. When I heard I needed a Root Canal, I panic! I've heard so many horror stories. I hate pain. I can't tolerate pain (this is from someone who literally passed out during a tattoo session - hmmm, strange, if I can't tolerate pain, why did I get a tattoo???? All to look good I guess...). I didn't want to be popping antibiotics all the time to subdue the pain either so I grudgingly made the appointment to see Dr. Wang. Dr. Wang is very soft spoken and very thorough. He explained to me everything he is doing as he worked on my teeth. Throughout the whole procedure, I only felt the slight pain from the needle (he's just as good as Dr. Peng) and some pressure. ABSOLUTELY NO MAJOR PAIN. I was pleasantly surprised. He showed me the digital x-ray of what is going on with my tooth and what needed to be done. He told me what are some complication he may encounter (luckily he didn't) and made me felt at ease with the whole procedure. I don't like to write bad reviews but I have had really frustrating experience with this doctor and the receptionist in his office. There are actually multiple things that I'd like to point out. First, I went to dr. Wang for a consultation to find out the source of my tooth/jaw ache, and left with his strong recommendation for a root canal treatment that, in his view, should be performed asap. I need to add here that dr. Wang took an X-ray of my tooth in his office so that he could assess my case. Luckily for me I went for a second opinion (my family doc referred me to a Stanford oral surgeon) where I learnt that I actually DO NOT need any root canal treatment, my entire tooth is healthy, and the source of pain is the strong jaw muscles inflammation. So basically dr. Wang misdiagnosed my condition. I mean, in my opinion this is a major issue. I don't even imagine what I would go through and how much would that cost me if I wasn't cautious enough and decided to go for a treatment that was (1) completely unnecessary, (2) painful, (3) very expensive, and (4) often involves complications. Second, I had the strong impression the dr. Wang was rushing me out the door, and toward the end of the visit he responded to one of my questions with "you can go online". I would seriously question if that is even ethically acceptable for a doctor to respond to a patient like that. I am coming to your office and pay for the visit not to hear that I can go online to do a research all by myself. Third, dr. Wang definitely IS NOT proficient in English language, so keep it in mind when scheduling an appointment with him. I think it's crucial for a doctor to be able to express himself clearly and precisely in English especially using medical terminology in subject that concerns ones health and potentially even life. And last but not the least, I was not happy how the conversation went with the receptionist. When I first called she asked if I want to schedule a "consultation" or "consultation with a treatment". So I asked her to clarify me the difference between these two, and her response was, "consultation is a consultation and consultation with a treatment is a consultation with a treatment". Couldn't agree more with the rest of the reviews. Mine wasn't a straight forward case with my root canal calcified making it difficult to do a regular root canal treatment. A couple of other dentists I went to suggested surgery. But Dr. Jen-Kuei said he was confident to try and do a regular root canal (which was clearly challenging given that the canal was barely visible in the x-rays). Clearly a master. Everything went super smooth. Even the initial injection was (surprisingly) painless. I hope I don't ever have to see a dentist for anything other than regular cleaning but if I do, I sure will be back to Dr. Wang! read more

Dr. Wang is brilliant! I was terrified of RCTs and I kept postponing my appointment. I finally mustered the courage to get the rct done. I told him I was scared and he was very reassuring. He took extremely good care of the ailing tooth. No pain at ALL! His assistant is very nice too. I even given shades to wear to protect my eyes from the spray during the 90 mins procedure. I was referred to Dr. Wang by my dentist for a root canal therapy on one of my cheek teeth in September 2011. The infected tooth had given me an excruciating pain and I could hardly eat and sleep for weeks. In a pre-treatment consultation, Dr. Wang spared no effort in explaining in detail to me his diagnosis and what was involved in the treatment he recommended. The entire procedure took about two hours and went successfully. Dr. Wang is extremely thorough and effective with his microscopic equipment. He even went out of his way to have a large cavity alongside a root canal permanently filled for me, which usually is considered a job for a dentist rather than an Endodontist. Thank to D.
