The food is AMAZING. Just took a family member who has a fav Mediterranean place in SLO. She changed her favorite to Jaffa after a few bites. The platters are five star. We shared two platters with lamb, chicken, and kofta kebobs. They are nice enough to let you mix up different kebobs on the same platter rather than two of the same. The hummus is to die for. Pita and rice are perfect! AND free tzatziki and fresh big spears of dill pickles at the condiment bar. Can't say enough good things about Jaffa. The platters come with salad as well so you get a huge variety without having to order a bunch of extra sides. read more

This review is of a first time visit. I really wanted to love this place, and for the price it's pretty good! But there were a few hiccups: I ordered the chicken shawarma plate, which tasted great, the rice was seasoned beautifully and it was a perfect portion size. Unfortunately I did get a small bone in my meat. :( I pointed it out to the cashier at front and he was gracious and apologetic. As someone who's worked in food service, I understand things happen, but I do think they were lucky I was eating with my hands and felt it before I had the chance to choke or break my tooth on it. Secondly, the food was not particularly warm. Again I brought this up to the cashier and he said they'd be happy to warm out food more next time, which again was very nice, but we were also a touch disappointed it wasn't warm in the first place. Overall, I'd say the food was tasty, the price was refreshingly affordable for the area and the service was gracious and kind. I'll be going back to give them a second chance. Maybe it's just because I love Mediterranean food and there aren't many cheap, local options (read: greatly missing the Halal carts in NYC). All things considered our experience was positive. I like supporting local but may also be inclined to visit Hapy Bistro next time I've got a hankering for a Gyro. Credit to the cashier who took my criticisms so gracefully! P.s. Let me just start off by saying this was the best Mediterranean food experience I've had in a looong time. We got falafel plates, cute little falafel balls, gyro plates, kids meals, dolmas, lentil soup and baklava! My favorite was the understated lentil soup, its smooth, warm and tastes like love. Make sure to get the yogurt dip, I can drink that with a boba straw. The manager, Ali Saleh, is a gem. He really made our day with his recommendations and explaining all the food to us. He's from Nazareth, Palestine and all his recipes come from his mom. The environment is just so peaceful. We are on the tables outside and just chit chatted with the lovely passerbys from the quaint beautiful town. read more

This a small little place some forget about that's located in the village, it can be easily passed by for some of the larger restaurants but I would stop in and give it a try for some of the best food around, their 3 plate combo is my favorite and my go to's are always the chicken pesto, hummus, and grilled veggies. The food was good, but for the prices there definitely wasn't enough. I pay a couple dollars more and get enough for 2 meals at Petra. The guy taking my order was sarcastic and rude, which was weird. Their outdoor seating is much nicer than their indoor seating, but I'd recommend taking it to the creek around the corner, there's picnic benches and more space than the restaurant. I was craving a felafel sandwich so stopped into this place. I am vegan and, for some strange reason, their pita bread is not! It is so easy to get vegan pita bread and I hope the owner takes note of my review. On the positive side, I was able to put together a tasty vegan plate consisting of rice, felafel, baba ghanoush and salad. Patrick, who waited on me, was very nice and very helpful. We also had the Garden Salad with Lamb Combo Plate, which was a little light on the lamb. The red lentil soup is great, as is their tabouleh. This location lacked the attentiveness to detail that their Santa Maria location had. The food could have been presented better, and the self-service area of drinks/cutlery/condiments were not neatly arranged. I stopped into Jaffa in the village of arroyo grande today for a late lunch. Walking in they had a bowl of water for dogs and a bowl filled with dog treats (major points from me). I was the only customer at the time - it was 3:30 pm - and the staff greeted me and were very friendly. I got the chicken pita wrap and a side of hummus and baklava. The sauce bar they had was great and everything flavor of the sauce was on point. Great pita wrap and the bread was fresh and perfect. My only complaint was the baklava was a few days old and hard. Did you ever go to a restaurant with a yen for something and the chef was having a particularly good day? Well, this happened to us today. The stuffed grape leaves, the baba ganoush and the tabouleh salad ($10.99) was incredible. My physician has been pushing a Mediterranean diet. This restaurant is a health hazard! The most disgusting thing happened and I won't eat here again. It's very unfortunate because I have been eating at Jaffa for years- but this is just DISGUSTING. My partner ordered an angel hair pasta plate and I watched the cook pick up the oil covered pasta with his BARE HANDS and transferred it to the plate. Where there's smoke, there's fire.
