I gave this restaurant a 5 not because I enjoyed all the food but the 7 other people in our party loved it!!! I can't just eat anything any longer but I wish I could. It smelled Devine in there. I only ordered dolmas and garlic fries. The dolmas were not my cup of tea but those French fries are the BEST I've ever had. Crispy, crunchy and a small amount of a yellow sauce on top. That sauce is amazing. I would have licked the plate but alas, that would be rude plus there must have been 5 servings on my plate. I looked at everyone's plate and noticed no one was going to go hungry. They fed you! Service is outstanding. Our server is super friendly. At one point, the chef came out and talked to our table. If you like Moroccan or Mediterranean food and you really want an authentic experience, come here. The chicken kabob is not like what you would have in a Greek, Armenian or Persian restaurant. I like that kind, but this is miles better IMO. The server is the chef's wife and she has great life stories about Morocco and about cooking. She is Anglo like me, but don't let that throw you off. She and her husband (who is Moroccan) share the secrets behind their dishes. The restaurant was almost empty when we were there. Shocking to me considering we are constantly on the hunt for fantastic Moroccan food and are almost always disappointed. Not this time. There are healthy options, which was what I was seeking as well and there are indulgent options, like the bastilla. I can see sitting outside on the patio looking at the ocean, but our view of the shore was also beautiful. Love the stunning Moroccan pillows. Warm up the owner/server by truly expressing appreciation for the cuisine and you will be rewarded with interesting stories about her life, her travels and the love story between she and her husband. This is not a touristy place. This is the kind of place, in my opinion, that Anthony Bourdain would love. This restaurant definitely surpassed all of our expectations! It was amazing! All the food was so fresh and flavorful and the owner/chef and his wife who sat us and served our meals were so sweet and welcoming. She took the time to explain the different dishes and asked what our preferences were - whether we liked sweet or savory, spicy or mild and depending on our answers gave us suggestions on what to order. Definitely recommend the Oasis sampler appetizer which was delicious. One of our favorite things was the lentil soup that was SO flavorful and wonderful! My husband got the whole fish which was the local rock fish and said it was amazing! A couple of us had the lamb kabobs that were so tender and flavorful. We were so full we couldn't eat dessert BUT we took some home-made baklava and their home- made ice cream to go and ate it later! Those were absolutely fantastic!! You really need to eat here. 2/18/23 I don't know if it was an off night for them, but it took an hour and 20 minutes to get our food. A couple that had ordered before us got tired of waiting and were halfway out the door when their food met them as they were leaving. We were told our food was being made next, which made me question their time management in the kitchen. I did over hear our server tell the table next to us that this is the first busy weekend in a long time and that last Saturday, they had only 4 tables. Tonight, it's a full house. The food was delicious. Both the lamb and chicken were tender without being dry. I didn't care for the bread. It was hard, dense, and cold. What a beautiful family owned restaurant! We sat at a window side table to watch the gorgeous sunset while we dined-- very romantic! (The patio was closed) The staff shared their family stories and connection to the food, a nice authentic touch. But the food topped all of that! Just incredible! The Fallafel was a generous amount for two-- I could taste the seasoned mashed chickpeas, and enjoyed the exterior crunch-- definitely a superb house-made recipe! Just went here today with family. I didn't like the honey chicken. We LOVED the dolmas. Really good hummus. We LOVED the makouda. My father enjoyed the beef potato tagine. My brother enjoyed the spicy a veggie curry. We didn't like the turkish coffee and the tap water. The turkish coffee was too sweet and there was textured bits in it: it was like drinking syrup. The tap water tasted off but not like in a dangerous way or anything- just unpleasant. Lovely customer service, it's a nice concept of a business run by a wife and husband (i think). We met the chef personally and in hindsight, I would have asked for recommendations. Nice couple of folks. Good decor and location. We wouldn't come again probably, especially since we were just passing through. But there were some great flavors and spices and it definitely will inspire some home cooking of my own. It reminded us of food my middle eastern aunt would make. All in all, I recommend the appetizers more than the entrees. Appreciate them allowing us to enter despite it being almost time to close, but the food was average, felt a bit overpriced, but the main thing was the long wait of TWO HOURS to be fair we came with 23 other people and it was late. While entering they warned us about having only one chef in the kitchen. Quantity was good. First timer review, really liked the location. The view from the main dining room is beautiful. The decor authentic. The outdoor patio is very nice and there is plenty of seating space. I ordered the Honey chicken platter. This dish was delicious! The bread was yummy. The meals are prepared to order so there is a bit of a wait. I also ordered the cucumber salad. Fresh greens with red cabbage and cucumbers with a nice Vinaigrette dressing. I enjoyed my first visit. Next time I'll bring a bottle of wine with me. This is one of those places that are an experience not just a meal. Go when you have the time to enjoy the company you are with, watch the sunset and savor every mouthful of food. It is NOT an order, eat and out in 30 minutes kind of place. We ordered as an appetizer Bastilla; made with almonds and phyllo dough. It's so good we were tempted to eat all five pieces, but we knew there were more delights to come. Next was the Morrocan Lentil Soup. Delicately spiced soup with lentils and chickpeas. Again, we wanted more but knew the entrees were still to come. Beef Potato Tagine, and Lamb Mkela were our entree choices. Both meats were melt in your mouth flavorful. They make to order so request that they leave it out. I could tell it would have been really delicious without it. Also request that they leave the added cilantro out of the lentil soup. It was excellent even with a little cooked into it but had my spouse eat the top layer which had additional cilantro added. She had the honey chicken and couldn't stop raving about how good it was. If you're looking for something different in pismo , this is the place! We never had Moroccan food, and have driven pass this place for years, what a mistake. The food, the tea , the service is incredible! Chef Karim is a genius chef along with his wife who basically runs the place. I don't know how they do it when the place is busy, cause I'm sure it is usually in the on season .. we were lucky to be there during the slow time. Home cooked meals for sure!!! The lentil soup we were given was incredible., the flavor and texture... I would go back just for this!!! We started off with an appetizer , Makouda ( vegetarian), which was 5 potato cakes with a spicy tomato sauce, so good! We aren't a fan of fried food, but this was exceptional! My wife had shrimp tagine , which was sautéed shrimp with veggies in chermoula sauce , lemon green olives and rice . Now I wanted to have the chicken shish kebab, but my wife orders me the lamb shish kebabs. It was pretty chewy, and a lot of fat, unfortunately but I'm not going to knock this place. The pieces I ate were good. We had morrocan tea, came in a tea pot, which was delicious, a nutty flavor, bold and almost saucy .. We eventually ordered another. Dessert was Selou, which is ground almonds roasted flour and sesame seeds, with a citrusy sauce. Along with that my wife ordered a Turkish coffee that was strong and also came in a pot. We spent around $110 on all this. The ingredients, the flavors, thr spices,, the service and home cooking feeling was well worth it. We will definitely be back. I'm sorry we weren't going there earlier. Plenty of seating, in doors and outdoors. I'm sure this place is packed during summer time.. This place serves amazing Moroccan dishes. We were looking for vegan options. The restaurant is not all vegan but there a few vegan items on the menu. We tried the Couscous Royale as an entree, Spicy Vegan Rarghifat, and Falafel Fingers with Hummus. The portions are HUGE so although the price is high, each dish on the menu can be eaten by 2 people, easy. Plus the entree comes with a bowl of lentil soup and bread. We were 2 people and ordered an entree and 2 appetizers. We could not eat them all and brought a lot of it home. We could easily eat our leftovers for another meal. We also order the Moroccan tea. A must if you want to experience another culture. The tea is hot sweet mint tea but it is unlike any mint tea I have tried. It is hard to describe it but another reviewer in Yelp said it is like the taste of Wrigley Mint Gum. lol This is a compliment and not a critique. I thought the reviewer was funny but it is right on. It is a good tasting sweet mint tea that is served in a beautiful pot and small glass. I like it and finished it. The taste of the mint tea compliments the dishes served. The food is all delicious and unique. It was one of the best meals I had and it is unlike others. The restaurant is huge and was decorated nicely in Moroccan way. The music was really nice Moroccan music. We really enjoyed it. The location is close to the beach. If the weather is nice to sit in the patio, I recommend the patio seating. There is a bit of ocean can be seen from the patio or the inside booth near the patio. It is easy to find this restaurant due to the bright blue trims all over which is hard to miss. To find the entrance to the restaurant from the parking lot(a private parking lot) was not easy. Because the entrance is on the street side and is not obvious when we parked in the lot. It seems that a sign at the parking lot to direct to the entrance would be great. read more

I was so sad when I noticed they were no longer in San Luis Obispo after frequenting them for almost 20 years, so imagine my delight to see them in a beautiful and much larger location in Pismo! We were a large group with young children, and managed to order probably more than half of the food on the menu, and everything was delicious as usual! Note that the lamb with prunes and the Cornish hens with butternut squash and sweet potatoes are both quite sweet, (still yummy) and that the savory options are wonderful as well. The Turkish coffee was amazing. Even the hole made baklava we brought home to enjoy later was incredible. And the staff was so accommodating for our lively toddlers. This is one of the best meals I've had this year. I was shocked to find the restaurant almost completely empty. Apparently they have moved from San Luis Obispo to this location in Pismo Beach. It's a superior view on the back patio but the Most amazing part is the food. They start you off for every meal with a lentil stew that is absolutely the best lentil stew I've had. Generally lentil soups are watery and just have lentils in a couple carrots but this was truly almost meal in itself. The chef who actually sat us recommended the branzino which came prepared with Moroccan spices and a lemon garnish. It also as a side of vegetable stew (almost tagine) and housemade Moroccan bread. We were recommended to have the mint tea which was excellent as well... And you do get a small glimpse of the ocean from their back patio. I highly highly recommend this restaurant!! read more

Finally got to try this restaurant my husband had been raving about. We made a reservation for 7:30pm on a Saturday for 7 people. The place was busier than usual so when we arrived we were greeted by the owner who warned us that we would not get our food for over an hour. We decided to sit anyway. She was the only one serving tables that night but we felt well attended to the entire evening. We ordered two apps, a few orders of beef and potato tagine, a chicken kabob and salmon entree. We were also served Moroccan tea and soup which came with the entrees. The wait for food was definitely long but it was worth it...the food was phenomenal!! A few other tables were irritated with how long everything took but everyone was given fair warning before being seated... we just took advantage of the time and had a blast. Ended up being so caught up in the evening that I forgot to snap pics of the entrees. We will be back again soon! Definitely try this place if you're looking for something different and authentic. Pismo Beach is not where I would expect to find not just Moroccan food but excellent Moroccan food. In the Bay Area, it was mainly Aziza and Mourad to satisfy my craving but with Mourad prices, not as often as I like. So coming across Oasis just a couple of blocks away from where we were staying at the Seacrest, it was perfect for takeout to enjoy watching the sunset from our oceanview balcony. However, they do have a cute patio when outdoor dining is allowed. The oasis sampler has two of each of their favorite appetizers like spanakopita, bastilla, makouda, falafel, and hummus and was a perfect way to get a variety. Surprisingly my favorite was the makouda which I had never had. It is a five potato cake served with a spicy tomato garlic sauce. I may have to get a full order of that and the bastilla next time as I would take a pass on the falafel. The fish tagine did have a bit too much heat from the chermoula sauce for me even though I requested mild, so was only able to eat a small portion. However, it was super flavorful and would be a hit for anyone more tolerant of spice. Entrees were served with lentil soup and berber bread so for two of us, one entree and that sampler was perfect especially if you don't want leftovers. read more

Although the drive from Nipomo to the northern part of Pismo Beach and back took 25 minutes each way, it was worth it. - Location: Central. Oasis is on Price Street at the end closest to Shell Beach. It's got easy access from highway 101 in both directions and was not a problem to find. - Ambiance: More functional than fancy. We were warmly greeted by one of the owners while her husband held down duties in the kitchen. Oasis has lots of room...maybe more than they need. Our table for 6 was in the main dining area which was clean and spacious, but gave the impression of a restaurant with limited finances. That's not a criticism. Most restaurants have trouble surviving one year. Oasis has been in that location for 4. The unusually large waiting area by the entrance and along the side facing Price Street means it's normally more busy than our evening or it's just excess space. Two refrigerated food displays were empty. Plus there's a large outdoor patio with a nice view of the Pacific which would be great on a warmer night. - Menu: Outstanding, especially if you favor Mediterranean food. Lots of interesting choices for appetizers, salads, main courses and desserts from countries bordering that region. And...many alternatives for vegetarians and vegans. - Food Quality: Very good. Our table shared the Vegetarian Sampler with Baba Ganouj, 2 Dolmas, Hummus, Carrots, Feta, Kalamata Olives and Berber Bread for $22. We debated whether to get 1 or 2 appetizers and chose one. The food was fine, but the size was most appropriate for 2, 3 or 4 people. My wife and I both had one of the Oasis "specialties" which came with a cup of Lentil Soup (I could have had a quart) and Berber bread (a bit tough for my liking, but maybe authentic). She had the Chicken Kabob with 2 skewers of chicken, vegetables, rice and garlic yogurt sauce for $32. I had Chicken Eggplant with a charbroiled breast, grilled eggplant, sautéed tomatoes, olive oil and feta cheese for $33. Both plates were brimming with good looking, smelling and tasting food. We liked it all, though my wife said her vegetables were a bit salty. - Food Portions: Substantial. Everyone got their money's worth. - Service: Interesting. As I mentioned, we were served by one member of the husband and wife team. She was very friendly, informative and helpful...but it took a long time for the food. We arrived at 6 PM, ordered at 625 PM, got the Sampler Plate at 7 PM, Lentil Soup part of the main dish at 715 PM and the rest at 730 PM. Plus...there was only one other table of diners during that period. Yes, I know, the meals are done from scratch and we're probably typical California consumers, but even the patient among us got a little antsy. Perhaps the reason was there were just 2 people running Oasis (husband and wife) that evening. - Wait for a Table: None, but we made reservations to be sure. - Price and Value: Excellent. Aside from waiting for food, everything about our meal was worth a return visit. - Parking: Plentiful. There's parking along Price Street...diagonally in the middle of Price Street and on the side street (Oasis is on a corner). My wife found this place and wanted to give it shot for our double date dynamos. We have the best time eating together almost every week! So, we were ready for a unique experience, and that's what we got. My first impression wasn't that good. As we approached the front door, I noticed some serious cob webs over the front door. It left me unsettled. And then we noticed that it was pretty empty on a Friday at 7pm. Another concern. No matter what, we were seated and were greeted by a nice server who was friendly and accommodating. We were told that they don't sell alcohol but that there is no corkage fee. At this point, we saw customers rolling in with drinks in hand. Wine mostly. What we ordered: some Mint tea to share, the Oasis Sampler, Spicy Chicken Kofta Kabob Chicken Zitoune (half Cornish hen) Tagine D'Atlas (vegetarian) Couscous Royal (vegetarian) What we really liked: --it's run by a Moroccan chef and his family --the Moroccan Mint tea is ridiculously delicious (I wish it was hotter though) --the appetizer SAMPLER! I'll start off with the good! The Lamb Kabob was really good as well as the Honey Chicken, rice and the bread. I was very pleased with the almond baklava for dessert. I really feel like this place must be hit or miss. The ice cream is made with mint and it was definitely unique, but still tasty. Just very frozen and not very creamy. The spicy chicken is EXTREMELY spicy. The flavor was great but the spice was so much I couldn't finish it. My boyfriend loves very spicy food and even he didn't like how spicy it was. My mother ordered the grilled chicken and it was soooo over-seasoned. She let me try a bite and it felt like I got a tablespoon of whatever seasoning was used. The service was very sub-par and the food being so hit or miss is why I docked 2 stars. My mother mentioned how over-seasoned the chicken was to the waitress and she basically just said that's just how it is. My mom literally poured water on it from her water glass to wash some of the seasoning off so she could finish eating her dinner. My boyfriend wanted to provide some feedback to the waitress so he said, "The food was really good. But the spicy chicken is unpleasantly spicy". The waitress just laughed as she walked off. If you are unsure, just come here. The food is fantastic!!!! So slow cooked and seasoned. The vegetarian dishes are actual fulfilling dishes and not an after thought to the menu (vegetarians deserve yummy meals too!!) We went when it was kinda slow on a Saturday evening at 5pm. There was only one person doing the waitressing - seems like a family own and ran operation. We came here during the Holy month of Ramadan and I am so blown away and impressed that love and attention put into our meals while the family is fasting. That in itself was so moving because that is not easy at all - esp with food so yummy! First we were served the lentil soup - it had some lemon and a blend of spices. Such a yummy and light introduction to the rest of our meals. We ordered an appetizer (i dont remember the name). Phillo dough filled with harissa and veggies. My boyfriend got the Royale plate which was veggies and couscous seasoned with raisins and maybe cinnamon or cardamon. It was so warm and delicious!!! It's been on our food bucket list and it was AMAZING We had Turkish Tea, the Calamari Appetizer, the Chefs Choice Appetizer and then finished with a Moroccan Rice Pudding dessert with their homemade ice cream and the Turkish coffee - so so so good!!!! They do not serve alcohol but you can go down the street to get beer or wine and bring it in to have with your meal. No corkage fee. The people were just delightful- awesome service. Cute, family owned place in Pismo Beach. The restaurant is huge with a big outdoor patio with an ocean view. We ate inside. I had the spicy chicken and my friend the honey chicken, both were delicious. My husband had the lamb skewers with rice. Our service was a little slow, but the unique flavors made it worth it. The tea is hands down wow-ing, I loved it and I've had tea all over the world. The style and decorations are beautiful. The seating is comfortable and you have a view of the ocean while you eat. I had the lamb and it was great, my sister had the calamari appetizer which she loved and my mom had the fish which she did not like at all because it was too spicy (minus one star for that). Lastly I had to remove a star for service, the young man who seated us was a great server! But the the women that took over our table was not. She gave an extreme amount of attention to only one of the three tables occupied. She laughed loudly, smiled, maintained a conversation with them and was very jolly. And she would go back to chat over and over again to that same table. As soon as she reached our table she was serious with no smile and it almost seemed like she was frowning. Very direct. My family and I felt unwelcome and we were all ready to eat our food and leave. Therefore I can't recommend this place to eat while you visit Pismo. * I can't remember the last time I had bad service at a restaurant I would say to emphasize how spicy dishes can be to the customers and also work on providing equal or at the least normal customer service to all. read more

We recently had the pleasure of dining at Oasis, and it was a delightful experience. The seasonal menu offers a selection of traditional Moroccan dishes. We chose bistilla for our starter and it was an interesting take on the traditional dish in that the chicken & almond filling was wrapped in sheets of filo like little cigars. It was delicious, a teensy bit sweeter than I prefer, but nonetheless I scarfed them all down. I chose the lamb kabobs for my main dish, and it was delicious. Two large skewers of tender lamb were served on a platter with grilled vegetables, garlic sauce, rice, Moroccan bread and a bowl of soup. As good as my dish was, the star of the meal was my partner's main dish of lamb au pruneau tagine, served with couscous and soup. OMG, the almond, prune, and honey sauce was so delicious! We are trying to replicate it at home! We also enjoyed Moroccan mint tea, served in ornate glasses, that was sweet and soothing to the tummy. For dessert, we shared a delicious creme brulee. The service was by the owner, I think, and she was attentive and friendly. We highly recommend this restaurant. We'll definitely pay them a visit whenever we are in the Pismo Beach area. read more
