She was denied services at The Joint and left to look for a chiropractor on a Saturday late morning with limited neck mobility and driving. It was dangerous for her to be out there in so much pain and unable to move her head while driving. Dr Contreras was the second office I called and he responded right away and said yes, have her come in and I will see her. He was closing in under 30 minutes but he let me know she might have to wait but that he would see her before closing his office at noon. I called my friend who quickly made her way over to his office. Dr Contreras saw her and quickly diagnosed the problem. He worked with her for over an hour and gave her specific instructions on what to do in order to maximize the results of his work and asked her to return on Monday. By Sunday she was better and by appointment time Monday she was almost fully recovered. She will continue to see Dr Contreras for ongoing treatment and support. I just have to say that you have two types of providers, those who say sorry, but I won't help you and those, like Dr Contreras, that say, head over. Let me take a look. After the first class my fears were allayed as Deborah is one of those trainers who coaches you along with praise for your efforts and recognition for your progress. She also takes the time to explain the proper techniques for each move or exercise she asks you to do. This is the kind of training that makes me want to improve to show that I am paying attention and making the effort rather than doing it just so I can tell people 'I go to boot camp'! Be aware though that these classes are outside, in the cold, maybe in the fog, and one time even in the snow. I've gotten good treatments here. The problem is the front desk staff's lack of knowledge and…read moreconsistency. Every time I deal with them, I have to anticipate problems or advocate for myself. I bought a package and planned out what I treatments I would get over the course of six months, and the front desk lost the plan...twice. Prescriptions were sent to the wrong address. I once emailed with a question about extending my plan and never heard back, only to be told *I* made the mistake not knowing that the person I emailed had left the company. (I was also told that there was no way for them to know that I had emailed and there's no system for forwarding emails sent to employees who have left, which is utter B.S.) Other times I've called and tried to get help on something basic, only to get a "we won't do that " from the front desk -- I had to go to management for something that should have been an immediate "sure," especially for someone who had shelled out thousands of dollars for a "membership." Front desk staff has also shamed me for not doing all of my treatments 1x/mo (my life was total chaos -- major move, death in the family, job upheaval) and basically said I'd compromised all of my treatments by not doing them once a month. (It seems to have gotten better, but for awhile, the attitude from the front desk was really, really bad. Distinctly unhelpful and borderline snarky.) Then there was the time I went for one treatment and only realized after they'd pulled the machine up that they'd pulled the wrong machine -- they hadn't looked at my treatment plan. Then once I had a really painful treatment, only to be told AFTER the fact that I should have been given the stronger numbing cream, not the weak numbing cream. (Why have two? Why not just give everyone the strong one?) And once when I got botox, I specifically asked that the injector do it the way the previous injector there had done it (I didn't want too much botox), but there were no records or notes on what had been done before, and the new injector shot me up with far more botox than I needed or wanted. So, fine for the treatments themselves, but the place is far from a well-oiled machine in terms of management. You have to be super on top of them and expect them to fail. You have to ask them to keep records and look up records. You have to ask them explicitly to tell you how to prepare for treatments -- they'll just space on telling you. I get the sense that even the women doing the treatments know that the front desk/admin is hopeless.

The intake process was thorough: foot scans (Foot Levelers), movement tests, pain point assessments, and baseline x-rays. What I appreciated most? No high-pressure tactics, no rushed adjustments. Dr. Haque takes the time to review everything first to determine if treatment is appropriate--plus, the entire first visit was free. I was back that Monday to review the results and go over care options. I want to note--I'm an entirely out-of-pocket patient since Kaiser doesn't make chiropractic care easy. Dr. Haque offered three treatment plans tailored to different levels of intensity, and I chose the most aggressive one: several months of 3x/week visits targeting my sciatica and TMJ.
