Loved my experience with Bibby! My cut and color came out great. She's super personable and does great work!

Not having a car and feeling lazy to walk or travel too far in the sub-freezing winter weather, I did some Yelp research and decided to give this place a shot, keeping an open mind. First, though, I called to check that they had someone on staff who knows how to cut women's short hair, because it can either be a total disaster or amazing, but never in between. The receptionist said she would put me with Elba, so I scheduled the appointment and walked over. The place has the feel of your average every day salon, and you get the vibe that everyone on the floor is really nice and social. The atmosphere is very casual. I got my hair washed and sat down with Elba, and immediately I felt her passion and confidence for cutting short hair. She listened to what I wanted and for the next hour she snipped little by little until finally I had the look I wanted and the look she was happy to do for me. She actually had a lot of fun cutting my hair; it didn't feel routine. For any ladies looking for someone who is careful with short hair, I strongly recommend Elba. And to put frosting on the cake, it only cost me $35! read more

Loved this place! Came here on a Tuesday, had an appointment for 4:30 and was seated on the chair by Ed precisely at that time :) they are very professional, speak english (many salons in the bergenline area do not). Had my hair cut (was super dry, long and brassy) & and colored to a beautiful vibrant burgundy red. I was here for about 2 hours and came out looking and feeling brand new! Ed really knows his stuff! I didnt know my hair would come out as healthy and shiny as it did. And for the price ($120) for the entire service, it could not be beat! Trust me, I have been to some high end salons in JCity for double and sometimes triple the price and I really found a winner! I will definitely be coming back! read more

This was an establishment I frequently for years when I was younger. Recently I have returned, and could not be happier. The service is excellent! When you make an appointment I can assure you the service will start at the appointment time, you will not have to wait. My hair always looks fabulous when I leave, which makes me very happy. However, after leaving Jagged Edge last night I must rave! Bibi has a true gift, and she blessed me with it! I went in with brown hair with tons of highlights, or so I thought. (It really was brown with a brassy tint.) After some chit chatting she knew exactly what I was talking about. I wanted the summer time glow, for my hair... I really tried to like this place... but I simply couldn't. All I wanted was a hair wash & a simple blow dry. I told the stylist "straight with a little bit of volume in the back" and the answer was "ok, no problem." Less than 15 minutes into the blow-drying process, he had already managed to burn my scalp. He made a weird face when I kindly pointed out that the heat was too much. I then had to ask him to watch the temperature several more times. At some point I was told that I won't have any volume, because "my hair is too heavy." (That's one I hadn't heard before.) And why would he tell me that when he was almost done?! The stylist then tried to persuade me to cut my hair a lot shorter. When I refused, he laughed at me. He even asked me if my husband wouldn't allow me to do so and whether it was a cultural thing?!?!?! I have no idea where he got that from. Overall I found the stylist to be unfriendly and extremely rude. He had this unpleasant and pushy attitude about him. At the end he even had the audacity to tell me not to put my hair behind my ears, because "it looks ugly." I was charged $37 for that "pleasure." Never again... read more

Bibi did a amazing job! I love how she slowly cut my hair and asked if it was at my desired length at each cutt . I am so use to hair stylist just cutting away regardless after requesting to keep it long that I was surprised how careful she was. Defiantly ask for bibi! She layered and cut away all the dead ends. From Dark Brown to Blonde: It was time to revamp my look after 5 years. I have natural dark hair and decided to give blonde a second try. For such a process, you must go to the right person. I highly recommend Bibby. We spent several hours together. She take her work seriously, quite the perfectionist. She goes out of her way and takes pride in her work. I've been getting my color done with Barbara on and off for a little over 10 years. I have no complaints. I only go there for color, so that's all I can really comment on, although I can say I wasn't thrilled with a blow-out I got there years ago, nor was I particularly happy with a massage I got there either. But Barbara helped me find the perfect shade of red (which I get constant compliments on and people think it's natural), and I like the fact that everyone there is friendly to me, and they always remember that I'm allergic to Goldwell shampoo and use other stuff on me. Is it a stellar salon? No. But if you want that, cross the river and go to Manhattan. And most likely you'll pay double too. It's freakin' New Jersey, people. What do you expect? read more

I unfortunately do not get to the salon as often as I would like and after losing my stylist due to a move 5 years ago I have been bouncing around ever since. I was very happy with my experience at this salon. I made my appointment based on previous Yelp reviews and I am so happy that I did. Patty cut and styled my hair perfectly and I couldn't be happier with the results. I am already planning on making my way back to the salon just for a wash and blow dry. I have natural, thick, curly hair so am always apprehensive to try new salons & stylists though could not be more pleased! I booked an appointment with Bibby. Service was prompt. Upon my arrival, I was professionally greeted, seated, and in the wash chair within about 10 minutes. It was one of the best washes of my life! BiBi was awesome. She fixed my hair!! I went to Super Cuts, even thought I knew it would turn out terrible, I still have them the benefit of the doubt and the lady chopped up all of my hair. She was eventually fired and I never went back. BiBi saw my hair and saw the damage. She miraculously fixed it and for CURLY hair. Curly hair isn't easy to cut! She's amazing. I don't know how there are any bad reviews for this place! I have been going here for over 6 years. I have been getting my haircut by Bibby since I started there. She does a great job and knows how to cut my kind of hair (long and curly). She works efficiently and knows her craft. (Google Bibby G., she has appeared in Latina magazine and is one of the spokesperson for a new line of products from Carol's Daughter). This is by far the nicest salon on Bergenline. The salon is beautiful and the staff are very friendly. They ask you about what you want and then deliver. By the time you leave you feel great and your hair looks amazing. My work schedule and their schedule make it that I can't usually come here which is a shame for me! I've been a customer of Jagged Edge and a client of Bibi's for many years and I am surprised to hear that any one has had a bad experience with her. I started getting my hair done with Bibi after reading an article where she won best Latin hairstylist in the U.S. Every time I go to do any drastic change to my hair she always consults with me when any change is going to ruin my hair. I've been to other salons and most of them do whatever just to get your money and this has never been the case with her. As a paying customer if you really don't like something someone has done to your hair why would you think of going back? I wouldn't, this is why I haven't stopped going to Bibi, because you can never go wrong with her. Yes there is no parking which sucks, but this is why I always ask how long will my process take since I am responsible for feeding my meter not anyone at the salon. All I can say is you be the judge and go see Bibi at Jagged Edge. You won't be disappointed. read more
