The place is in a nice location in San Francisco and they have a nice selection of items, and that's pretty much all of the positive I can really say. However their customer service needs work. I was trying to sell some watches to trade for a watch in their inventory. After sending a photo from their website of the watch I was interested through text the week before, and setting up an appointment, the watch was sold before I even arrived. No one notified me that it was gone. I had made an hour trip only for my desired watch to not be available. Very disappointing, however since I was there I might as well browse. When I got to their store they tried to sell me watches I didn't even want. I wanted to sell my watches to trade for a watch in their inventory. Making a purchase of almost ten thousand dollars takes some thought, but I could feel pressure from the woman at the store. When she looked at my watches, she really tried to lowball me I believed. I needed time to consider her offer and told the woman helping me that I felt like my watches were worth more, especially since I explained that the Rolex was my late mothers watch. She responded with "well, I have plenty of heirlooms and I don't need any of your watches. My offer is very good." I was taken aback, but ok, someone must be having a bad day. At the end of it all, I felt like the offer was too low and said I needed to get lunch to think about it and would return. 10 minutes after leaving the store, she texted me and offered me more for the watches. I wish she were just honest and fair the first time and I would have purchased something from this jeweler. However, after my experience I decided that they were not the jeweler for me. read more

Jahan has been my parent's family jeweler of choice for close to 15 years. Visiting his store as a teenager was always a fun experience as a "dreamed" of the day one of the diamond rings he would let me try on would be purchased for me. When my then-boyfriend and I went to visit his store in February looking for engagement rings, it had been at least 12 years since I had been to Jahan's. As an adult and without my parents, the experience was no different than I remembered. Jahan's professional, friendly, knowledgeable and most importantly, fair and honest business practice was still the same. I'm fairly knowledgeable about diamonds and extremely particular. I also like getting the best deal for my money...on everything. Like most men, my fiancé did not know the first thing about buying diamonds. We went to a number of stores and did a lot of online research before I took him to Jahan's. I was hoping that Jahan's wholesale prices and quality would still beat anyone out there. He did not let us down and my fiancé was immediately able to see the vast difference between the other locations we had visited. We also learned that his diamonds are "conflict free," which was important to us. After trying on several settings and showing Jahan pictures of things I liked, he told me "not to worry" and that whatever I liked could be duplicated or created without a problem. Other stores either were not willing to "create" what I wanted, or they wanted rights to our firstborn to do so. Their prices were outrageous! Also, they simply do not carry the quality of stones or variety of up-to-date settings that Jahan does. My fiancé waited several months to propose and I had no idea what he had selected or when he'd made the purchase. He ended up modifying a setting Jahan already had that I had fallen in love with in the store. Note: I had hardly seen any settings I liked at other stores and Jahan had many settings I liked. I absolutely LOVE my GIA certified 1+ carat asscher cut diamond. It's surrounded by a vintage-looking square setting and set in a white-gold and palladium mix (so the metal is still durable, but won't yellow like white gold does) with baguettes down the sides and milgrain to give it that extra vintage flair. It's spectacular and I can firmly attest that I will never want to upgrade! Jahan even made the matching wedding band at the same time. I've uploaded a photo of the engagement ring. The band has been hidden away until the wedding. I cannot advise you more to stay away from retail stores. The quality, price and level of professionalism just doesn't compare to Jahan's. I wholeheartedly recommend him to you. I get compliments on my ring almost daily, women saying "I've never seen anything like that and I just love it" or "Is that a family heirloom?" I'm constantly asked where my ring was purchased. My wife (then fiancee) and I had our wedding rings made at Jahan after reading the reviews on Yelp. We knew exactly what we wanted, so it was a pretty straightforward order. The price was right, as we were quoted half of what a very prominent jeweler had quoted us. It took about a month or so to complete, which was fine as we had about 3 months before our wedding. I had elected for a blend of palladium and white gold because I was told it was the best option against scratching. We got the rings and they needed some touch-up work, as the stones weren't set in a straight channel as they were supposed to be. A couple of weeks later we had our rings as they were supposed to look. Got married in late May, went on our honeymoon, and by the time we were back my ring was completely scratched up (we didn't do any rock climbing or anything else that would have scratched them). Also, I had noticed on the trip that the stones were actually loose in the channel. So I took it back to Jahan and they denied that palladium would help against scratching; that it prevents yellowing, but is not related to scratching. Guess the sales pitch is different than the service pitch. Anyway, they fixed the channel and told me to be more careful to prevent scratching. 2 months later the ring is looking pretty scratched, so I avoid wearing it unless I'm going out. This week my wife had to bring hers back since it was causing calluses on her finger (too small). She dropped it off and was told it would be ready the next day. When she came to pick it up they asked her to pay $50 for the resize. She was pissed and said no way. So the person there called the manager, who then reduced the charge to $20. She still protested as it was only the second time she'd brought the ring back. They agreed then not to charge her. What was that about?? Having a bad month and need to scrounge for $? Her weight hasn't changed in the last 3 months. I thought all jewelery retailers offered free resizing for life, and isn't it their fault that they sized her wrong? So if you want something made for cheap, come here, just be prepared for some hassle and some delay, and some sketchy behavior. read more

I have made three purchases at this store in 12 months. This last time (a few days ago) I went directly to Jahan and found something I liked. He remembered me and the price was more than fair. SOLD! I don't know what the man and his wife are complaining about here on Yelp, but I can say for sure that the people at Jahan are reasonable people who obviously want to provide a good product for a good price. Based on my interactions with them, I would have to assume that people who had a problem at this store were the ones to blame (or just unpleasable maybe). Ultimate deal hunter tool. Hint to guys in the market - not all carat sizes are the same. You can find a wider diamond (diameter) than another even though they are the same carat size. And diamonds are priced by the carat, not the width. Might as well get your money's worth! Stay within the right cut ratios and you're good! Dear Buyer, The customer experience is very disrespectful. I was in the market for a 4 to 5 carat diamond and Stephen was the salesperson that I was working with. Let me add I'm a very specific buyer. After finding a diamond that my soon to be fiancé adored I asked Stephen to send me the GIA certificate so that I can see what I was buying but also so that I can get the diamond insured. My ask was very simple, three days went by but still no certification. On the day that I planned on purchasing the diamond Stephen told me to just come in and he will give it to me then. I then told Stephen that it is unlikely that I will go back and forth with him and if this simple ask can not be met that it's highly unlikely that I will continue doing business with him. He then said he's not going to go back and forth with me either. I then told him sell the diamond to someone else and that his customer service is very poor. It gets better. I then received a call from Jahan screaming in the phone yelling obscenities. I laughed and told Jahan I see who taught Stephen his poor customer service skills. Afterwards Jahan text me and says that it was probably too much diamond for you anyway. I was so excited to go engagement ring shopping with my boyfriend. We were helped by a really nice sales man named Steve. He was very engaging and helpful however that was all put to a halt when the owner came out and began getting irate. He yelled several times saying phrases such as "people come here to buy not to look, so you can leave now". I was shocked that an owner could be so unprofessional and rude, please proceed with caution. I would recommend not shopping here if you are looking for professionalism or a great shopping experience. It's incredible that someone with that manner could own a business. read more

My girlfriend and I have been looking for a diamond ring. I came across Jahan via Yelp, and the good reviews sounded compelling enough for me to arrange an appointment. I gave Jahan my specs and he mentioned he would get back to me the same day with possible diamonds that may match my criteria. All the way, he was insisting of me disclosing the budget for the ring--and I didn't want to provide that so as not to lose leverage in negotiations. The next day, I haven't heard back from Jahan... so I emailed him the day later to see if he was working on the search. He didn't reply to my email. Then I emailed him again a few days later... and he still hasn't replied to my email. So 1 star for no follow-up. Unreliable. Misleading. Can't trust the guy. read more

I was first recommended to Jahan by a good friend when I was shopping for an engagement ring for my wife back in 2007. My previous experience buying jewelry was primarily driven by the retail establishments like Tiffany, etc, so I was skeptical to try elsewhere at first - but my experience with Jahan over the past few years has been so great that I wouldn't even consider wasting my time and money in a store like Tiffany again. Where do I start? First of all, the service is spot-on, everytime. Whether Jahan is helping you directly or it's one of his associates, they know how to find the perfect balance between showing you an item they think you might be interested in, and refraining from any attempt at a hard sell. I can't tell you how many times I've been to other jewelers who I felt only paid attention to me if they thought I was going to buy a pricey item. That has never been an issue with Jahan. When I purchased my wife's engagement ring, I returned several times because I couldn't decide on a style, and was less than forthcoming about how much I could afford to spend. In the end, Jahan ended up drawing out a custom design for a beautiful ring which they then had handmade for me, at a price which I could afford . Where else could I find service like this? My wife receives countless compliments on her ring to this day, and to know it is one of a kind makes it even more special. Great service aside, the prices here are really incredibly low for the value you get. One purchase from Jahan and you'll realize just how much of a rip-off all of those other high end jewelry merchandisers really are. I won't say how much my wife's engagement/wedding ring cost, but suffice it to say we have friends who have comparable rings that cost at least 2-3x as much - and aren't one of a kind like ours is. It's like having an "insiders connection" except we don't - anyone can buy from him. I'm grateful my buddy made the recommendation. More than anything else, it's just nice to know that Jahan is someone you can trust to give you the best deal possible, and I like that whenever I come in he always remembers small details about my life that we can discuss and catch up over. He clearly puts his customers first and understands that he's in an industry that thrives on relationship referrals, and I would refer him to a good friend or family member any day of the week.
