I came in here this weekend and got a love bird latte. It was pretty sweet and not very hot but it was yummy. It looks like a cute place but it has a little bit of a fast food vibe which is weird. If you need a coffee better than Dunkin Donuts in the South End area before your shift at 7 AM, this is the place to go. Every time I go in, it has this very "clean" odor that is difficult to describe. Anyways, Jaho provides a very homey, comfortable vibe based on the decor and atmosphere. The service is usually quick and friendly. Jaho also has many unique beverages (maple soy latte, lavender vanilla latte, thin mint latte, and a few that escape my mind atm) that are somewhat difficult to find elsewhere. My husband & I went for lunch. I ordered spinach pie, he a ham & cheese sandwich plain "nothing else on it." The wait was exceptionally long to receive our order while others came & went after us. I get that it's quicker to make coffees & teas w ready to grab food but you have to do an orders taken. So was the food worth the wait...absolutely not!! The spinach pie tasted like it was in the fridge for a long time & dried out with minimal spinach. Nothing at the ends. I must rate it as worst I've ever had. And the plain sandwich w nothing on it came lathered in Mayo. There was a decent amount of meat on the sandwich but for the price there should be. Love it! The atmosphere is calm and cozy; they play the best music, and the staff are very friendly. Granted I only went one time, but it seems like a great place to relax with friends or bring a book to read. Most of the customers seemed to be studying/working on one thing or another. The reason I give them 5 stars is that they have amazing amazing drinks. I ordered the maple soy chai latte, and it was heaven on my tongue. Stopped by in the morning for a quick bite before lunch and spent $18 on a iced coffee and a BLT. The restaurant has a nice design inside and has plenty of seating options if you decide to eat here but the food was not good at all. The "iced" coffee had a nice taste but was room temperature which was pretty disappointing, there wasn't any ice in it at all. The BLT was worse though, it was as hard as a rock I tried eating it but couldn't break it even biting down with all my force. Even if I had managed to break into the bagel the sandwich only had 2 pieces of bacon and 1 tomato and 1 piece of lettuce, pretty skimpy for the price. The service wasn't bad and the restaurant had a nice look and theme but the food is awful, which should be the first priority.... Won't be coming back read more

This place is quite lovely! The customer service was especially great. The woman at the counter was patient with me as I decided on my order and was quick to kindly provide me a cup of water after I ordered. The sandwich I ordered, the Turkey BLT, was delicious and nicely sized. The bread was so good and the veggies were fresh. My almond milk latte was also very yummy, the milk wasn't perfectly frothed but wasn't bad! The espresso was pulled nicely and the coffee flavor wasn't too strong or burnt-tasting. The place is cozy inside with many places to sit and several tables, though it is not extraordinarily cute indoors. Jaho has a wide selection of food and drink options which is so awesome! From Zodiac teas which is pretty neat(different flavors for different signs) to many kinds of pastries. You'll have loads to choose from and won't just want to leave with a coffee. I love that this place is up and running and allowing people to sit inside. They take all the precautions necessary, of course. My only suggestion is to elevate the barista technique and revamp the aesthetic. But regardless, this place is definitely worth visiting. read more

A complete and utter disgrace of a establishment. A homeless man walked into the place was not bothering anyone but requested from the store clerk for a cup of water. The normal common decent thing to do would be to say no problem to this older homeless person that lives in our neighborhood. He wasn't affecting business just looking for a cup of water. As a small business in the community, they could have easily given the the gentleman a cup of water and he would have been on his way. Instead a woman who identified herself as the Manager, escorted him out and said he couldn't be here. How you act as a small business in this community is a testament to your values and ethics - think twice before you give this company your money. I dropped into Jaho with a friend while we were cruising the South End on a Sunday evening. It looked like a pleasant coffee shop. It was quiet, there were a few people inside, but it was certainly far from crowded. It seemed like a great place to get a drink, chew the fat, and have a good time. The first things I look for when I go to a new place are the prices. How a business prices their goods directly informs how much I will enjoy their products. I scanned the menu for quite a long time, and could not find them. No biggie, I thought, maybe the menu was just poorly organized, and I had missed them while looking around. I ordered a piece of cake, and a large hot chocolate. Imagine my surprise when the clerk then asked me for $12. I learned right then why I could not find the prices. They are intentionally left off of the menu, because this place is just too rich for my blood. For the rest of my visit I was evaluating the quality of what I received. The cake was good, but it was not $12 good. The hot chocolate was OK, but not better than a chain coffee store. The high prices, and deliberate omission really soured my experience while I was there. Yes, I had a great time with my friend. We chatted, staring out onto Washington Street as cars drove by, and night time came to the city. A great spot for an early coffee run. There is ample amounts of space so seating should not be an issue. On my visit I went with the cappuccino and was not disappointed. The ratio was perfect and I would definitely recommend. Side note: I went with the large and it was def large! On my next visit I would opt for the small. This is my go to spot for the most random order - a hot chocolate, a Spanish latte, and a pizza bagel. I love the Spanish latte here because it's a good balance of milk to coffee and sweetness. I don't like very milky drinks so I appreciate this latte. The hot chocolate here is quite good too! It's a favorite of most people who I bring here! Now the pizza bagel is actually the star of the show to me. I like that their bagels are always soft enough to cut into, and the ratio on this bagel are spot on! I came here a couple of times during my time in Boston, and I really loved the atmosphere of the coffee shop and the service. The people are so kind, the coffee is incredible, and the space is great to set down a laptop and work away for an hour or two! There are tables, benches, and ledges to work at, so finding a place that's comfy to work in shouldn't be a problem! There's also outdoor seating if the weather permits. It's not too pricey, about the same as Starbucks and minus the line. I also really appreciated that the ice in my coffee was blended up. If you're ever in the South End and are hungry for something scrumptious and different, you need to swing by this place and try their pizza bagels! I stumbled into this place about a year ago and had their Reese's Peanut Butter Latte. Yes, it does sound like it could be too much but it was just right! Today my girlfriend and I went on a lunch date here and had Pizza Bagels. I changed it up for my girlfriend today and added a bit of pesto on top. At first she was a little skeptical of having pesto on it but I told her once she has it, she'll never have it any other way here! The verdict... She loved it! This place is great! It's a cute coffee and sandwich shop. It's great when it's not busy because it's not crowded but when it's busy it is hard to get around the tables. Other than that it is very neat, clean and the staff are very friendly! Once you order your food they bring it to where you are sitting and you can leave your plates where you sit but they have a bucket for you to bring your plates when done. Standard convenient coffee shop. Nothing spectacular, but another potential study spot when I don't want to venture out as far from home. COFFEE - I didn't order anything fancy, just straight up coffee. However, that is arguably the most important thing to have down. It was okay. A little cold for my taste (I like it HOT). Had I known it wouldn't be that hot I would have asked them to put it in my thermos, which they are more than happy to do (pouring it myself was a disaster). PASTRY - Got their blueberry scone. Didn't hate, didn't like it. Tasted a day old, but I was grateful they warmed it up for me. They do have a pretty wide variety of pastries. Maybe the others taste better? SERVICE/AMBIANCE - Adequate space for this area; cute. There is a nice mix of booth space, table seating, a few stools, a couple of lounge-y chairs. Smoother, less acidic, more caramel flavor, less bitter, and just darn delicious. They also have almond milk along with their soy milk, which is a nice option for us lactards. A great place to come for a coffee! You can get a massive cup (a medium) for only $2.14. The coffee is absolutely delicious, and heavy-bodied. The servers fill your coffee cup to the brim, and allow you to put whatever else you'd like into it. A countertop in the cafe has a variety of milks, creamers, sugar, sweeteners and spices that you can add to your coffee. I also ordered a coconut macaroon, and was disappointed in how expensive it was - more than $3 for a tiny, golf-ball sized portion! This discouraged me from ordering any other bakery items or sandwiches, despite how good they looked. The cafe has a really cosy feel to it, with a variety of tables, couches and countertops to sit at. A most welcome coffee shop addition to the South End esp. since the only alternative in the area is Flour which is almost always packed. I've come by several times so far to study and it's a great spot to get some work done - good amount of space and seating is pretty comfortable. So why the 3 stars? The coffee itself is only decent and even their pour over pales in comparison to the likes of Thinking Cup and Pavement - hard to say where the weak point is (beans themselves, water temp, grind, etc.), but it was about on par with my own single drips on an off day. Haven't tried the food yet, but I thought it was awesome that they offer Japanese toast...def will get around to that soon! read more

It had a very generous helping of smoked salmon on it and a good ratio of cream cheese. The staff are always friendly and the service is speedy. The coffee I ordered tasted really burnt, which was a little unusual so I think it may have just been a weird time of end (end of the batch) sort of situation.
