I adore Jai Dee. The staff is very friendly. My favorite order here is the chicken pad lo mein (spice level 4) and the Sex on the Beach sushi roll. There have been times that they're closed at unexpected times. Sometimes a notice is posted on their Facebook page and sometimes not. Also, oftentimes you have to call several times in a row before someone answers. (They stay pretty busy.) But it's worth it. Drunken noodle was pretty good but had more of a stir fry feel/taste than Taste of Thai or Chaiyo. A little more street-food than noodle dish (which is how some people say it should be prepared, but I like Taste of Thai's more). Great Tofu Pad Thai! The best in Knoxville! Their heat scale is serious. 1-5 and I wouldn't ever go beyond 4 if you love heat... I can't even imagine what the 5 would be like! I've never had a bad experience here. This has been one of my favorite restaurants to frequent while being at UT. The sushi is delicious, as is the Pad Thai and Pad Kee Mao. I just tried their Thai tea boba tea yesterday and it was great. The workers here are always very friendly and service has always been fast. The first time I went here, I blindly ordered the lobster bomb roll because I was feeling a little boogie that night. When I try out a place for the first time, I like to try their specialty. I was surprised with 2 take out boxes: 1 with a lobster tail with the lobster cooked inside it to perfection and a second with well made rolls filled with fried lobster. For $28 it was an incredible lobster meal big enough to feed 2. My second go around I dined in and had the pad Thai. I don't even like Thai food but my friend convinced me to give it a try. My opinion of Thai food slowly began to change. The service for dining in was 4 stars, better than most sushi n Thai places to be honest. However, I soon learned take-out is the way "to go" here. My favorite dish here is the drunken noodles with chicken and #1 spicy (yes I'm weak in the spice department). Always ready within 15-20 minutes, always deliciously cooked. Since that dish that's the only thing I order from here. Only about $9 too! Definitely better than any other options around campus but not too crazy about their sushi (I've tried 2 other rolls) unless you want to splurge and get their lobster bomb. read more

I'm vegetarian and there were lots of options for me. I had the pad Thai with tofu, fried rice, miso soup, veggie roll (sushi,) Thai iced tea () and the sticky mango rice. . Everything was really good, the portions were very generous and the service was awesome (we had Jason, who was super polite, friendly and attentive.) My family joined me for dinner and tried a few of the meat options as well. We all agreed this is the best Thai/sushi restaurant in town. Will definitely be back! read more

I absolutely love Jai Dee. I'm a student and live right by the restaurant, and with its delicious menu, delivery/take out, and affordable prices, it's definitely a must-go for all ages. The staff is very friendly and family owned, which gives it a nice and friendly vibe. They will cater to you and are more attentive than most small restaurants, which will just sit you down and take your order. I recommend the volunteer or the dragon roll, but all the rolls are really good. The only reason why I don't give it five stars is the small space and sort of non-focused atmosphere. But like I said, the food, prices, staff, and location account for the other four stars. Go there now! They have great hours and are open 7 days! read more

We only went here because the rating was so good. We must have hit this spot on a bad day (Wednesday). Ordered Pad Thai. It was thin shredded chicken and watered down in a horrible broth. Couldn't stomach more than a few bites of Sushi. It was such poor quality that grocery store sushi is much better. They had to have been trying to cut costs compared to whatever vendor they were using when the good reviews came in. $55 to feed three people. And we had to run through a drive through afterwards. Very nice people running it though. Hoping this was a one off experience. Won't be trying again to see though. read more

After waiting for over AN HOUR I called the restaurant only to have been told that the owner lied, and the food was not on its way. I then politely asked to be reimbursed, and instead the employee smarted off with "I'll just cancel it and pay for it myself!" and then hung the phone up before I had a chance to respond. DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. Food was subpar, and SERVICE WAS AWFUL. I am very disappointed, especially since I was patient, polite, and a generous tipper. I visited today and unfortunately they no longer serve complimentary soup or salad with any of their entrees. You must purchase them separately. Also, I had the Crab Rangoon and was quite disappointed. The filling was made with fake cheddar cheese and despite the outside being piping hot, the cheese wasn't even melted. I was just mildly disappointed in this place. I found the drunken noodle to be much sweeter than usual, but will say the portion was huge and loaded with chicken. They don't serve beer here. It's a bare bones, laid back place right off the strip. Service was very friendly and efficient. We had two drunken noodles, an app, one soda with our final tab around 28 bucks. Parking might be an issue during the school year, but I was able to grab a spot right out front. Came in for lunch and enjoyed the entire experience. The server and service was fun and on point. They were attentive to the needs of everyone in the restuarant and handle business like a boss. Now onto the food! My is getting watery just thinking of my dish. I will be honest, I have had the best Thai in Los Angeles but the flavors of the food and portion size was what I am used to having when eating Thai, here in Knoxville or in Los Angeles. I ordered the drunken noodle, and my server wisely suggested I get a level 2 instead of a level 3, as they use authentic Thai spices. The flavor was delicious. I cannot say how much I love this place. The family who owns it is super nice to customers. It's clean and cheerful. I usually get the basil with chicken. It never disappoints. You get huge portions and the price is fair. I've worked at UT for 13 years and seen places come and go. If Jai Dee ever left I would be crushed.
