Jai Dee Thai Kitchen -- Pleasant Experience, With Some Room for Improvement Jai Dee Thai Kitchen has a quaint, pleasant atmosphere, and the greeter/waitress was friendly and welcoming. We started with the Crab Rangoon, which I found to be a little tough and fairly mediocre. The Pad Thai was very tasty, although it leaned a bit sweeter than expected. I requested Thai hot, but the spice level came across more like medium. The mango fried rice was flavorful and enjoyable, but again, it wasn't as spicy as requested. For someone specifically looking for authentic Thai heat, it may be worth emphasizing that "Thai hot" really means Thai hot. Overall, there were definitely some things I enjoyed, and I would be willing to give Jai Dee another try. Been wanting to try this place for a while. We love having all these Thai food available in our city so much since coming back from living in Thailand. We kept it simple and got 2 Pad Thai and one Penang Curry. It was super disappointing. The pad Thai noodles were mushy and also dry- no sauce, no veggies, maybe 3 small bites of chicken. Then the other serving of Pad Thai was the same noodles but it had a lime, a few green onions, few raw bean sprouts and crushed peanuts- even less chicken. It looked like one normal portion was split up into 2 boxes then delivered to us. The curry had great aroma and portion. .. but the veggies were mushy like they had been frozen then cooked in the sauce and it was so salty.- which is really surprising I've never had salty Thai food. read more

There wasn't even an option, not to leave a tip. Always happy to leave a generous tip when I sit down for dinner. You shouldn't have to leave a gratuity when you pick up a to go order. I want to start off by saying that the owner did the right thing and refunded one of our meals when I told him about our disappointing experience. He was really apologetic and nice about it. I'm hoping on my next trip it'll be a 5 star review. That said, I can only review on what was my food experience on this day. The restaurant felt a little "shabby"... Self serve water station looked very messy (so much so we paid for bottled water) and it just didn't feel welcoming and super clean. We grabbed menus at the front and went to our table to decide what to order. We ordered two entrees. An order of drunken noodles with beef (12.00 plus an extra 2.50 for the beef) and an order of crispy shrimp (14.00). We also ordered an extra side of sauce which was a single tiny plastic container and was a dollar. That's a bit high for a single container we felt. We ordered two bottles drinks (again, because the water station looked like it wasn't kept up). When the order came I was beyond shocked our $14 shrimp entree came with 3 total shrimp, 4 carrot slices and 2 pieces of broccoli with rice. I felt like this was a kid's meal, not a $14 adult meal. The veggies were ice cold and the rice was luke warm. I asked the owner if 3 shrimp, and a garnish of cold veggies was normal. He apologized profusely and said his son was injured and as the cook they're struggling to keep up without him. Immediately he refunded me for that entree and told me to please give them a second chance. It was because of his kindness and willingness to take responsibility that I will give them a second chance! The drunken noodles were OK. The sauce was all on the bottom (as if it was poured in and the food placed on top) and so it didn't have a lot of flavor. The beef was very tough and really wasn't appetizing either, but with just 3 shrimp we ate it. At least the sauce itself was good when we got to the bottom noodles. I think this dish could have been better with chicken (no upcharge there) and if the noodles were covered in sauce better. Overall I'm hoping it truly was an off night for this place because the other reviews are great and the owner was so helpful. I look forward to a better experience next time and being able to edit my review to show a better experience. Thank you to the owner for trying to make it right! NOMFEST 2021, y'all! We are shocked that this place wasn't packed on a Friday evening, because it was amazing. I am usually skeptical when a restaurant tries to tackle more than one cuisine (in this case Thai and Japanese) but Jai Dee made me a believer. A wide variety of noodles, soups (including Pho), sushi galore, stir-fry, and curries. The menu is a lot to take in, but I really appreciated how funny the menu dish descriptions were. This was a unique touch. *virtual high-five.* Our preschooler specifically requested sushi for family night and we definitely got our carb on! We got a few other kid-friendly items and were really wowed with the depth of flavors and freshness. We tried: -Volunteer Roll (crab salad and shrimp-my fave) -Sex on the Beach Roll (giaganto. Had to take 2-3 bites of each piece. Lots of flavor. Slight sear on salmon was great. Roe added a nice texture. The fave of my husband and 4-yo) -Crunchy Shrimp Roll (typical shrimp tempura roll. tasty and appreciated removal of the tail on end pieces) -Pad See Ew-Chicken (really flavorful brown sauce and loved the endless veggies included and perfectly cooked) -Pineapple Curry Fried Rice-Shrimp (subtle curry flavor that made this tasty dish disappear wayyy too quickly) If I had to gripe about anything, it would be nitpicking about the small dab of wasabi with the sushi and the thin to-go packaging, which leaked quite a bit. Enjoyed our lunch today we got chicken drunken noodles and sweet and sour tofu. The noodles were very tasty and the right amount of spice for medium, according to my husband. I loved the sweet and sour tofu - the tofu was slightly crispy on the outside and soft/chewy in the inside (chef's kiss). Reminded me of my childhood. BTW, I don't eat meat or seafood and many of their offerings can be made vegetarian/vegan. Looking forward to our next visit! read more

Crab Rangoon is light and crispy with good filling Pineapple/Coconut Boba Tea is good, but wish I got a different flavour pearl (my fault!) Pad LoMein is so tasty! I'm probably a little biased because JD is my initials and I get strange pleasure from the name Jai Dee Thai (no not in a sexual way), but I think the food here is pretty damn good. I first tried Jai Dee Thai about 2 years ago and didn't like it. I decided to give Jai Dee Thai another chance on a whim tonight, purely because of the name, and was really impressed this time around. I ordered takeout and got the green curry (spicy level 4) and the spicy salmon sushi roll. Everything was delicious. The curry had the right ratio of veggies, meat (I got chicken) and curry. It was also the first time I've gotten a spicy level of 4/5 in Knoxville and actually felt that the food was spicy! The sushi was surprisingly good, so I'm excited to try out some other rolls. Four of us tried Jai Dee for the first time and had high expectations with the great reviews. It was a date night just prior to a concert. We all felt the place had a fast food vibe. You order at a kiosk or at the counter. Get your eating ware out of containers on the counter. They did bring the food to the table, and we were checked on several times. If we split our score: the food was about a 3.5 and the atmosphere about a 2.5. Staff were very nice. Another customer got up to leave, and a staff member from behind the counter yelled (not angrily, but loud enough to get the entire restaurants attention) that they must bus their own table.
