I was referred to Jaime's by another upholstery shop who could not match the vinyl for my vintage table/chair set. The seats were torn after years of wear/tear, but the seat backs were still in very good condition. I didn't want to have to replace everything if I didn't have to. Jaime took the time to go through MANY sample books and we finally found a close match. This was not easy considering how old the chairs are. The vinyl was ordered and my chairs were done within a week and a half. They look brand new and the cost to do so was minimal compared to other shops I had researched. I needed a piece of Sheep leather sectioned together for a custom built console for my Truck. The rear panel was to be sewn in line with the top, so the metal beads lined up on the template that I provided. Jaime Jr made a drawing on the receipt as we discussed price. So to get a good idea of what this entailed , it was three pieces of very thin material (leather) that were 12 inches long by 2 inches wide for the center and two 12 inch by 6.250 inch wide, The console is 14 inches wide. Jaime tells me he can do it for $65.00. You read that right $65.00! Were talking about 24 inches of thread. it takes 2 minutes to sew three pieces together. The leather has to be glued to the metal backing after it is sewn, and stretched to line up with the top! I marked red lines on the metal where the pieces align, and Jaime went out to the truck at my request to show him exactly how it should line up. So now he offers to glue it on and says he will only charge $120.00 to do it all. I declined the offer, and pointed out he would have to have the truck there to line the metal up first, then glue the leather on. So I said, how much to just sew the three pieces together ? Before he answered I pointed out that my first job in high school was at a trim shop. So he lowered the price to $40.00 dollars, which was still high. I reluctantly agreed so I could finish my project So we go back in, and he says that will be $40.00 cash only...so now I'm thinking he is going to sew this after hours and pocket the cash. Again I go over the alignment, and where each piece goes, and he reassured me he would get it right. The Leather is from a repurposed Double D Ranch Jacket, so there is no room for error. ( I can't get another one) Jaime say's he may even have it ready the next day! After many excuses about the leather sewing machine broke and the repairman has to fix it...almost two weeks go by! I called several times to both numbers, and no answer for days. No return call for days. Finally Jaime calls to say it is finished. I get there and Jaime Sr brings the piece out. and I look at the seams, and they are straight and well sewn. I pay the young lady at the desk, and own my way! Jaime Jr would not even look my way( which I found odd). When I get home I realize the panels have been sewn together on the wrong sides(the wide sides were to be sewn to the center piece). How can anyone screw this up! I provided a template, and he provide his own notes and drawings. Naturally I called to speak with them, and the daughter tells me they are busy(what do you want?) I tell her I was just there, and the piece is backwards! Well they are busy, and can't stop to talk to you! Wow...great concern for your new customer! I told her they ruined my project, and thanks for cheating me out of $40.00! Unfortunately Jaime trimmed the edges off the wrong side, so now it is impossible to take it apart and sew it right. During the tax day flood, all my furniture was ruined, except an ottoman, which was put up and not damaged by water. I purchased new furniture, but did not buy an ottoman to go with it. I decided to have the ottoman that survived the flood recovered with some fabric which would complement the sofa and chair I purchased. After calling, emailing photos and getting quotes from several upholstery shops, I settled on Jaime's Custom Upholstery as they had the best price, were close and the reviews I saw were pretty good. Originally, I had sent them a photo of my ottoman, which was a plain beige color. After I decided to use them, I sent them a photo of the fabric I had chosen which was a striped pattern. The price went up slightly, which I completely understand, because it takes more time and effort to match stripes. I was told that it would take a couple of weeks, which was fine. I was in no hurry for it. It took a little over 2 weeks, but it was definitely worth the wait. I also had three pillows with zippers made to go on my couch and chair. The ottoman looked just as I hoped it would and the pillows were very well made, but just a little bit smaller than I had hoped, but they still look great on my couch and chair. Jaime added some extra cushioning to the ottoman and it is just beautiful. I would definitely recommend this shop for your upholstery needs. Read everyone's recommendations and thought I'd give Jaime's on West Road a try. Stopped by a week ago and spoke with a very nice, older man to get an estimate on the cost for reupholstering 6 dining chairs. Took the chairs over today, only to be told by a younger man that the cost per chair would be much more. He made no attempt to help me return a chair to my vehicle and was also VERY rude. Had 2 pieces, Natuzi leather couch and chair both with recliners, Bought in 1997 at Star and they were not cheap. The leather still looked good but the seats an backs were wore out, needed new springs and re-stuffed. Jaime Sr came out and looked at them and quoted me a decent price and also transported them from my house. The couch was real heavy. His comment was it has good bones and is worth redoing. Took about 7 to 10 days per piece and we still have them in the living room and they are about as good as new. He did a great job redoing the springs and seat back support. Far as I am concerned he did great and considering he took care of pick up and delivery I was happy with the cost. read more

Don't take your furniture here unless you want them to charge you double what they quote you, even if you have the original quote in writing. This was a bad experience from the start. I had to do all of the follow up. I was told it would take a week to get my fabric in. I called week after week for three weeks and was finally told that it was in. A date and time was set up for them to pick up my furniture, but they no showed and did not call. When I called to find out what happened, they told me their truck was in the shop for repairs. When asked why they didn't call to let me know, they said they just got busy. I arranged for a friend to drop off my furniture and upon dropping it off, they told him that it was going to be twice the price that they quoted. I called them and they said someone made a mistake with the original quote (even though I spoke with two different people at the shop and showed them quote in writing). Ultimately, they would not honor their quote in writing. So I promptly picked up my furniture. I can tell you exactly what happened. The fabric they ordered wound up costing more than they estimated. So they tried to change the price on me when I brought my furniture. Businesses should own up to their mistakes and should always stand by their quotes, especially when a buyer has it in writing. read more

My wife and I took 4 dining room chairs that we had in storage since Harvey that were old to begin with and which got wet on the wooden legs from water. In one week Jaime's put new padding and fabric on each chair seat and as a no cost extra cleaned and stained the wood. The chairs look brand new and the cost was a mere fragment of what new chairs would cost. The place is not fancy but is an old time working establishment that is quite skilled. They can upholstery anything so give them a try. We found them originally having been mentioned favorably on the Next Door app. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS BUSINESS!!!!! This is a very unethical place of business destined to go under. I took some outdoor cushions to be reupholstered. I was promised a 2 week turnaround. I wrote a check for $1000 to cover the cost of the fabric as a deposit. After two weeks, I contacted the business and spoke with the son, Jaime who informed me that the cushions were being worked on. I was told shortly thereafter that the father, who basically ran the business, had passed away due to COVID. Another month went by and I attempted to contact the business No one was answering the telephone and there was no one at the business during normal business hours. On one occasion, I was able to find someone at the business and stopped in to check on my cushions. I noticed that they were still on the floor snd hadn't been worked on. I asked about the status snd I was assured by Jaime that they were being worked on by his "seamstress." I finally got in touch with Jaime and was told that the seamstress had COVID. I waited approximately another month snd still no cushions. I was told one lie after another by Jaime. He further told me that he hadn't even ordered the fabric. After 3 months, I finally became so frustrated that I asked for the return of my cushions so I could take to a reputable upholstery company. After much argument, Jaime agreed to return MY cushions. I picked up the cushions snd when asked for the return of my $1000 I was told that he did not have the money. He had to pay rent! This is my money snd the deposit was for the fabric, not rent. I am still battling with this company to get the return of my money. My advice is to RUN from this business. They will take a deposit from you snd you will be doing good if you get the project completed. The son is running this business in the ground! Unprofessional awful rude service. Went in to have a cornice board made and spoke with the father and he gave me a price for everything I described and gave him exact measurements. He was super nice and gave me a quote of $325 plus $75 install. $400 total. I said great and he said great. All I need is your material. So I went the next day to bring my material and the son was there and said "well I have final say so on all projects and I can tell you know it's at least going to be $500. (He said all this in a condescending a-hole kind of way) I said well I already got a price from your dad and that's what he said. So you should honor that. He said my dad was wrong and I can't help you and basically kicked me out. Oh also during the time we were talking about my project other customer came in and he dropped me like a hot potato and said "oh I was helping him on the phone so I need to tend to him first" so unprofessional. This guy needs some serious training. Don't use this place. I'm so glad I saw their true colors before I used them. read more

I just picked up a chair today from Jaime's Upholstery and I could not be happier! Not only did he do a beautiful job but also sewed me a matching pillow without me even asking. The chair prior was a wreck from our two basset hound dogs that we had let sit on it in the past. The chair now looks like new! The price was also very reasonable compared to others in Houston. This is a small family owned business so the inside of the shop is small and cluttered but that man can certainly reupholster well! read more
