Horrible quality of finishing. I had a brand new custom kitchen built and wanted a nice hard shell white finish. He didn't even dust or sand before applying the final coat. All the paint (catalyzed lacquer, which he recommended) wore off (with very light use) after 6 months. He promised me a paint touch-up kit, but never received it. Now it's beyond touch-up. read more

Great job restaining our kitchen cabinets. I gave him an idea of what color I was looking for and he brought me several samples to my job. I made sure to let him know I wanted my cabinets to look like they came that way, not look like they had been redone and stain. I picked out the one I wanted and he set an appointment to come to my house. He removed all my cabinet doors and drawers and brought them to his shop. Then he taped/plastic enclosed my entire kitchen and taped/wrapped every last thing in there until the only thing exposed was what was left of my cabinets. He did his magic and in a couple of days brought back my doors and drawers. He even stained my breakfast table to match my cabinets. I even referred him to my Aunt who hired him. Over the past four years, I've had about 15 pieces of furniture refinished. (This, in itself, could be a complete testimony!) The first piece was a gorgeous walnut burl Mid Century conference table, which was ready for the scrap heap, but then I intervened and took it off someone's hands. I took a snap shot of the table and sent it to Furniture Refinishing Services. They said they could do it. gave me a reasonable quote, and had it ready for my home in less than a week. It is stunning. I was fully expecting marginal results since the table was in such poor shape. Boy, was I wrong--but later surprised with the results! Since then, I've brought them antiques with water stains, broken chairs, and yesterday gave them another large table. They are polite, have an excellent eye for detail. quick turnaround, and have strong opinions on what they believe looks good (in terms of finishes) and what doesn't. Plus, they'll pick up your pieces and return. I literally cannot believe some of the negative posts I've read about FRS. They seem like some sort of vendetta. At any rate, two big thumbs up for them! They did an exceptional job of matching the lower half of the corner cabinet to the upper portion(which did not flood) it is better than new. I really feel compelled to share this as a warning to others: I found a great piece on craigslist that I wanted refinished so I called this company. Over the phone, the owner William seemed like a nice guy with passion for antiques. He agreed to pick up the piece from the seller and have it redone--which was a big plus. Then the nightmare begins! He's in the middle of moving to a new location, which should have been a red flag. It's now 2 months and I still don't have my sideboard. The first time it was delivered with peeling paint 2 weeks ago so I had to send it back. Now every time I call he dodges. Every promised date is never kept and it's always a huge mission to get him over the phone... I've had to call from unknown numbers, have my husband call him from work etc. He doesn't keep a single promise, doesn't check the work done by his workers and is completely consumed by finishing his new place. Never should've taken my project in the first place. Extremely unreliable, and worst experience of my life! read more

Unfortunately, we have to retract our original review of this company. They turned out not to be what had believed them to be. Their customer service and lack of professionalism was too much to overlook. After spending over TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS with this company over several projects, our last job was horrible. In the beginning, we were asked to write a review by William. We did in fact, write a very favorable one. However, after this last job with them their true colors were exposed. For the first time, we were not totally satisfied with the work on our last project. Expecting them to do all they could to insure our satisfaction they instead became rude, insulting and belligerent. Refusing to pick up our piece which was a KING SIZE $ POSTER BED we had to deliver it to them an hour away. We had to practically beg for them to deliver it back to us. They refused to do the work in a timely manner. Making every effort to avoid our calls, texts and voicemails. We had to resort to semi threatening message which never were acknowledged. Eventually, the piece ( a 4 POSTER KING SIZE BED)was brought back to us but not delivered. It was left unassembled in our bedroom. William made sure to tell us and I quote " i will bring it to ya on my way outta town but its all you after that, I'm not putting it together." WOW! is all we can say. There are too many other companies out there who actually value their customers to allow ourselves to be treated so poorly and for what? Because we asked that you do what you were paid to do. The Ultimate Kitchen is the ultimate disaster to do any business with from remodeling your kitchen to furniture refinishing. Very unprofessional using poor subcontractors ( I had to hire my own electrician and painter to correct their mistakes) The owner would never keep his appointments making false promises.
