I am so happy with my entire experience at Houston Upholstery. The owner is on top of her game. She is responsive and professional. Her communication is super fast, so fast that I wasn't even prepared with my fabric selection. Shame on me. I was a bit hesitant at first since our correspondence was done via email and wasn't sure if my vision would be materialized. I was absolutely wrong. Houston Upholstery knows exactly what they are doing. She asked questions that I didn't even know needed to be answered, like "what type of skirt did I want on the sofa?" She also made suggestions that updated my sofa and now I even love it more. I feel that the price I paid was very fair and it only took them about a week and a half to complete the work. That is ridiculously fast! And lastly, their delivery guys were extremely professional. They work for Houston Upholstery and are not outsourced. They removed their shoes when they entered my home. I had noticed Houston Upholstery & Interior Design many times on the way to my chiropractor. It wasn't until I needed something reupholstered that I decided to stop by to get a quote. Quickly upon meeting Marie and talking to her about fabrics, I decided to stop looking and go with her. I really wished I met Marie before I decided to redecorate my place a few months ago. I had met with a few interior decorators but always felt disappointed with the experience, like another job to get done and over with. I can't say enough about the customer experience with Marie and the team at Houston Upholstery who helped us re-upholster a 40 year old couch that has been handed down in our family. Marie provided me with a quote within hours of submitting a request through Yelp. When we ran into a challenge with our first shipment of linen velvet fabric, the team helped problem solve and then turned around our order quickly once we received the appropriate fabric. Marie was also helpful in offering suggestions to update the couch (ie, changing the structure of the seat cushion). Houston Upholstery has created several custom pieces for me - an oversized banquette bench and a storage ottoman for my nursery. Working with her is exactly what you want from any transaction- communicative, personal, detailed, timely, and professional. It is very refreshing to enjoy such a positive experience without being "to the trade". With my banquette, they were so precise with the details, and her shippers went above and beyond to lift the oddly shaped item over my fence, and with the ottoman, she finished it early to be ready for my little boy and had it delivered to us when he came home from the hospital. I brought an ottoman with a big stripe pattern on it- I got the fabric from Bassett who sold us the sofa in the same pattern. Marie did a BETTER job on the ottoman matching the stripes and keeping the fabric straight than Bassett did on our sofa! It is a big ottoman, and I asked for contrasting welting and it is SO beautiful. I only wish I had a few more things for her to reupholster. Thank you, Marie! And there is parking behind the house, so don't worry about that. I am sad that they only do panel drapes as I don't know if I can find a drapery person to match the skill of this business. I went to Houston Upholstery after visiting several purveyors searching for fabric for two armchairs. When I gave Marie the general idea of what I wanted, she immediately pulled out a sample which fit the bill exactly for one of the chairs. Even after I looked through several other books of samples, I ultimately chose the fabric she first showed me. She also suggested that I use the same fabric for both chairs, which have somewhat different shapes, a great idea for the small space I live in. Her sample inventory is large with a wide range of prices, and she was far more helpful than anyone I spoke with at the other stores. read more

Houston Upholstery made the sofa bed I designed to the exact specifications. Marie help select fabrics and confirmed proportions were to correct and exact measurements. I have used them now for 3 projects and they have never let me down. Turn around time is quick and the workmanship is excellent. They can deliver but I always pick up my pieces and they are always carefully packaged for transport. If you need fabrics, they have a wide selection that will fit most budgets. Houston Upholstery has recently recovered two love seats, and they have made a custom bench and pillows for me. The fabric they have is beautiful and much less expensive than fabric I haven found in other stores. Their work is excellent, their service is too! I am now having them recover my parson bench dining room chairs. I would recommend this business to anyone who needs furniture recovered, or needs furniture made from scratch.
