Came tonight for dinner for the 1st time - recommended to me by a friend of mine. Luckily I was able to find parking in front and get a table right away. Place is small but has a "homey" feel to it. Greeted right away and given menus. Service was great- had a handsome waiter who was attentive and friendly. Tried chichi- the house drink ( made from purple corn) Which was very good . Ordered shrimp fried rice - which is a standard of mine at a Peruvian spot. Had the Bistec Apanado (breaded steak) which is a fav Peruvian food for me. Meals come with white rice or potatoes or French fries or salad. Will have to venture out next time and try something new. The food is good. They NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE! The prices have skyrocketed and they charge a service fee. They are making money at every opportunity. Prices have gone up and it seems the quality of ingredients have gone down so they are making more money on both ends. Still a good place but the issue with not answering the phone and the service charge are so annoying. Everyone takes advantage of the people. Merchants used to at visa/Mastercard 1% to accept cards and they did it to get more customers now they make us pay that fee plus some extra. It's just not right. read more

By far the best Peruvian restaurant I have been to. The food is always fresh and hot. A lot of places have their rotisserie chicken sitting for a while and it gets dried out. Well not this place. The chicken is always juicy and flavorful. Their chuafa is has a really good flavor and is not greasy. You can taste the freshness with their ingredients. Their green sauce is on point. I was craving Pervuvian rotteserie chicken, but I didn't know many Peruvian restaurants in this area, other than in Union City. I searched Yelp, hoping to find something closer to me. Jamito's popped up. I stopped by and gave them a try. I tried the 1/2 rotteserie chicken with white rice and salad. It was quite a meal. The 1/2 chicken is pretty large. They give you a big heaping amount of white rice. The food was very good. The rotteserie chicken was flavored and cooked nicely. I've been back a couple of more times to try a different combination with the rotesserie chicken. I've tried it with fried rice and both for take out and dine in. The restaurant is sort of a hybrid fast food/restaurant. The dining area has more than a few tables with waiter/waitress service. A while back I decided to go on a quest to compare all the local rotisserie chicken spots. I tried whatever you can think of: Costco, Boston Market, other local establishments. They all bend a knee to the rotisserie chicken you will find at Jaimito's. Since then, I've tried other dishes and they always hit the spot. Get yourself some chicken and make sure you get extra aji verde sauce when you go there. Otherwise, you'll have to drive back. Let me start off by saying that I love Peruvian food. Most people I know love Peruvian food. Such a great mix of lots of strong flavors with that comfort food appeal. I've been satisfied with a lot of the Peruvian food I've eaten, but this place definitely takes everything at least a half notch up. Let's start off with the purple drink - Chicha Morada. I usually end up unsatisfied with this drink for a number a reason. Most of the time I hate the gritty texture. Some times the flavor is good enough for a taste, but then I have a hard time finishing an entire glass of the stuff. The chicha morada here manages to control the grittiness to a reasonable degree. Next up is the Choros a la Chalaca. At first glance, I was thinking - what are these green-blue/ aquamarine color mussels?? Next was - geez, that's a lot of onion. I haven't had the dish before, so I have nothing to compare it to. This one had the flavor profile of ceviche. Mussels were huge. I enjoyed the dish a lot. Yuca a la huancaina. Thank goodness they put something together WAY more exciting than your typical papas a la huancaina. Man, that dish can get boring. Yuca fries definitely add a nice pop and contrast with huancaina MUCH better than boiled potatoes. To top it off, their sauce had a slightly better kick than most huancainas I've had in the past. As for the lomo saltado, it was excellent. Because of how much other food we had and the fact we wanted to try the fried rice at this place (after all, it is called a Chinese restaurant), we opted for the house special chaufa instead of white rice. Everything was done just right. Good balance; nothing overpowering. No complaints whatsoever. All in all, a great Peruvian food experience, and one I'd like to have again in the future. I have an obsession with rice but if I could choose from all the different types I would say "Arroz Chaufa" takes the trophy. It's Peruvian fried rice mixed with other ingredients-onions, eggs, vegetables, and your choice of meat (I chose chicken). So of course I was excited to head to Jaimito's, which is a Chinese/Peruvian influenced restaurant. This isn't a spot to expect a beautiful decorated interior or top notch service. Take a seat and then you'll be attended to. We had the yuca fries, lomo saltado (beef, fries,)/white rice and an order of arroz chaufa with chicken. After placing our order, within three minutes our food was out - I could never decide if that's good or bad. The lomo saltado (beef platter) was decent, lacked a bit of the flavors, and I wasn't surprised that it wasn't "hot" since we got it a minute later. The yuca fries had yellow cheese all over them so I decided to pass on that. I was really happy with the arroz chaufa and a large order is more than enough for 2 people to split. I would have been happy with just this order and it's definitely what would bring me back to Jaimito's--I highly recommend it to those who aren't sure what to order. read more

Amazing food, I have been wanting to come here for the longest time and finally got the chance Sunday. The price is a little more than I was expecting but the food was so fresh and tasty I didn't mind paying a little extra. I went with my family and ended up ordering the ceviche de pescado. It was a mound of fresh fish, a little spicy tang, with crunchy toasted/ fried corn kernels. It gave the dish a little texture, because everything was soft. I had to take some home that's how much there was- I also have to give credit to the yucca. It was perfectly fried, crispy on the outside and tender in the inside. I was a little worried because sometimes yucca can be so dry, but this was amazing. The cheese sauce over the top really made the dish. Wonton soup was delicious, coming from a fellow Chinese person, a tad on the salty side but good. It comes with chicken, pork, duck and wontons. The duck however was mostly skin, and not really any meat. Tallarin Verde with breaded steak, it was super good. I had to wait a while for the steak cause there was a little misshap with the order, so by the time I got it, the steak was hot and the pasta was cold. The steak was crispy, and salty and delicious. A random spot that many could easily miss-but should come check out! The place was packed when we got here, before our trip to Costco :) The four of us were able to split a full chicken that came with fried rice, got the chicken noodles and a side of fries (a whole plateful!). We ordered several items from the menu that seem like an odd combination. Broiled half chicken Small order of shrimp fried rice Wonton soup Side of white rice and beans This was a massive amount of food. Definitely enough food to feed at least four or five people and we were only two people. So we had a lot of take out containers upon leaving. They were pretty good, a little bit on the plain side, but not bad at all. The one food item I was taken off guard by was the wonton soup. The wonton soup comes with chicken, pork, and what I believe is duck. There is also a lot of cabbage in the soup. I can not identify what type of meat was used in the wontons but I believe it was duck. If it is duck- I wasn't a fan of it. This place has limited seating, but you can call in advance and can get your food to go. Also not a lot of parking so when I king up takeout bring someone in the car with you so one of you can run in and the other can stay with the car. We went for: Yucca ala huancaina: crispy fried yucca topped with a spicy cheese sauce and a (blech) hard cooked egg. Sans egg, this was quite good. The stir fried shrimp and noodles were ok, and would have been better if the noodles were stir fried a bit in a hot wok instead of reheating them in hot water, then tossing them in a bit of sauce. It was missing that extra something. The Peruvian style fish fillet was tasty, but suffered from an over salting of the dish, as a whole. The chicken was extremely undercooked and when we asked for a better piece of chicken the waitress said that the chicken always comes out red because of the marinade they use. Stumbled upon this place while in the area and looking for a place to grab lunch. It's a little hole in the wall that you'll miss if you drive too fast, but it's definitely a must if you're looking to get full on some delicious food. There are about 10 tables and chairs set up and you're immediately smacked in the face with the smell of rotisserie chicken upon walking in. All of the locals seem to love this place as there was a steady rotation if people coming in and out. I had an order of vegetable fried rice and a side of baked plantain. Both were delicious.. For the price not the greatest. I was surprised by the price to atmosphere ratio...I am not implying that the food was horrible or distasteful, but for the price paid could have been much better. We had the shrimp Cevicha, duck fried rice, some adventurous random item (think was called combination something, had three types of noodle and chicken with duck) and spicy shrimp. My husband and I come here often. We've tried Peruvian restaurants closer to home, but they never come close to this spot, so it's totally worth the 45 minute drive. Our 2 favorite dishes and must have every single time are the Ceviche Mixto and Jalea - deep fried seafood goodness without the icky greasiness! So delicious!
