Crab Rangoon (another name- Cheese Wontons; sweet and sour sauce came on the side)
Nancy W.

I have been reluctant to eat at a Chinese takeout store. I grew up in one where my parents owned their Chinese takeout business for 25 years on Long Island, New York before they sold the business. Since then, no other place compares to it and I wasn't ready to try anywhere else. Since I moved here to New Jersey two years ago, my husband craves just good Chinese takeout food and I decided maybe it was time to try. We have tried a few places, but Meiwei East has stood out to be a great Chinese takeout. I have been here a few times and each time, the service has been good. Before Covid happened, the establishment has plenty of room for customers to sit and eat. Since Covid has been taking into caution, the business is doing good to stay safe too, customers can pick up their food contactless. My usual go to is Chicken with Broccoli. They make it good every time. I have also tried their Chicken Chow Fun, Shrimp Lo Mein, and Moo Shu Chicken. My recent favorite has been their General Tso's Shrimp from the Chef's Specialities. The order can be good as leftovers the next day too. Last week, our order was picked up and they forgot to put in the Cheese Wontons. After I spoke to the individual on the phone, he was apologetic and I told him next time we come I'll remind him. Earlier tonight when we ordered our food and came to pick up, he remembered me and told us how sorry he was and added the order of Cheese Wontons in the bag already. Now I have tried it too, and it tastes crisp and delicious too. I was glad he remembered and I didn't think to remind him until another time. Friendly staff, clean, and food is always prepared fresh and good. I missed having Chinese take out food, and I'm glad we can go back to Meiwei East and gives me some nostalgia. Best Chinese food in Clifton if you come by and want to try it out. Always a pleasure to come and support their business.

Just ordered $30 worth of food and it was all disgusting. Worst Chinese place I've ever tried.

Perfectly cooked and the sauce was perfect for scooping up with the fresh bread that was served with a nice little dish of olives when first sat down. Eggplant appetizer was grilled with a spice medley that beautifully enhanced the caramelization. It was vegetable preparation at its best. We had 2 whole fish entrees. A Dorado and Branzino. Both incredibly fresh and straight from the ice case that you can view and inspect on your way in. First preparation was an Egyptian style blackened rub. Very flavorful and cooked with precision. Crispy skinned and moist flaky inside. The second was also grilled with a topping in a similar manner to the sauce the shrimp appetizer was served in. Also very well executed. Service was welcoming and warm. The chef/waiter was beyond helpful and we appreciated his help with our selections. Absolutely worth the trip. We will return and you should make this a priority to try if you haven't already.

Once you come in, I must add that the parking is quite limited, make sure you park in a safe spot. As u enter the restaurant, it gives u a proper seafood vibe. What we ended up ordering were Oysters, crab cakes which came with fires, Calamari, seafood boil (one with old bay sauce and the other with Cajun seasoning) and Ofcourse the dessert- lava cake with vanilla ice-cream and some drinks. The best part? The seafood comes in a plastic bag with your choice of sauce. They do provide you the plastic bib, gloves and everything u need to indulge in your serving. The Cajun is absolutely delicious, it's spicy, hot and perfect for my kind of taste bud! Well it's not a perfect fancy date spot , but if you wanna get messy, get get going .. the Calamari, oysters, lava cake .. everything tasted perfect and I am going back there for sure.

A friend of ours suddenly said, "I want seafood boil," and just like that--we landed here…read more Parking can be a bit tricky, especially on a Saturday night. The place was packed, and we were with a baby, but luckily got a table pretty quickly. The menu has great combo options where you can mix crab, shrimp, lobster, and more--all in one. TBH, that's the way to go instead of ordering everything separately. We ordered two Combo F along with shrimp fried rice and Cajun chicken fried rice. Combo F comes with Snow crab legs (1/2 lb), lobster tail, shrimp (1/2 lb), Potatoes (2 pc), Corn (1/2) Now comes the fun part... The seafood arrives in a plastic bag with your choice of sauce (Cajun, Garlic Butter, lemon pepper, Old Bay, Island style). They shake it all up, and then it's on you to dive in. You're given gloves, crackers, and tools to break open crab legs and lobster shells. Basically It's messy--but its beautiful mess ..lol I started off all proper with gloves and tools, but after some point, I ditched the gloves because it was just easier to enjoy the food that way. The Cajun sauce was absolutely delicious--rich, spicy, and full of flavor. I even ordered plain rice just to mix it with the leftover gravy... and wow, that was a amazing. Highly recommend trying that! Everything is essentially boiled seafood tossed in sauce, so don't expect anything grilled or crispy--it's all about the flavors and experience. The fried rice was tasty too, though the rice itself was a bit on the harder side. This isn't just a meal--it's an experience. Perfect for going out with friends, getting messy, and enjoying good seafood together.

The soup was so fresh and flavorful that I would honestly come back just for it. The mackerel was a big portion, crispy outside and tender inside. The Mul Naengmyeon was such a surprise. It's not the usual sweet and sour style. The noodles were super thin and cold, and the broth had a really unique flavor. I loved it. We also tried the Sundae Platter and Seafood Scallion Pancake. The pancake was a little oily but so good, with big pieces of seafood. Big portions, good prices, and lots of side dishes. We ate really well for under $20 per person. Good for both a quick solo meal or coming with a group.

Decent food, reasonable prices, and good service overall…read more Gamjatang (4/5): Good portion size. The broth was decent but not great; it leans more on the herbal side and isn't as spicy as other places. Oyster, Seaweed & Beef Soup (3/5): Packed with seaweed, but only came with about 5 oysters and very little beef. The broth had a strong, decent seafood flavor. Fried Spanish Squid (3/5): This wasn't on the menu, but I was excited they could make it since I'd seen photos from 7 months ago. However, it was baby squid rather than the body of the squid. It also felt a bit overcooked, lacking that fresh, chewy texture

Went on a Sunday around brunch time but if you're in the mood for brunch food items, they don't…read morehave that. Lol so this more lunch/ earlier dinner if you're going at 11am. They do have coffee so that's a plus. And the coffee is made with a French press. Very tasty. They have a good menu. Something for everyone. We started off with the guacamole app and clam chowder. The guacamole is plentiful and tasty. Also the salsa was delish too. My table patrons didn't like the clam chowder. They said it was too salty. For the mains we ordered the roasted chicken, hot chicken sandwich and the Cajun seafood alfredo The Hot chicken was divine and huge. You won't be disappointed with that one. Good amount of spice. The roasted chicken was lemon rosemary jus was delicious as well. I ordered the pasta which was supposed to come with jumbo shrimp and andouille sausage. As soon as I received my dish I asked the waitress where the sausage was, she couldn't answer but went to get her manager. The manager said normally it's under the pasta. Still, no sausage in the pasta. They apologized and made the sausage and added it to the pasta. I wish that was the only issue. The menu states that it's a cajun Alfredo sauce and hate to say but this was just bland. Not flavorful at all. 2 waiters recommended it but I'm not sure why. I'd give it a 2.5 out of 5. The portion size was good but again no real taste. Overall this was a nice place. I just need to study the menu and read more reviews about what to order here.

If you get her as your server, it's a start to a pleasant and great meal. Angelina knows what she's talking about! One feedback would be to learn how to better time the serving of the foods. We got our soup and shrimp cocktail as starters but literally 3 minutes later, our entrees were served to the table. Our entrees got cold while we tried to finish our starters. Please look to have the servers better time the serving of entrees AFTER the starters are finished. I had the New England Clam Chowder and the Prime rib. The clam chowder was tasty but lacked clams. They added andouille sausage to the chowder to give it a nice tasty twist but this should not have taken away from the amount of clams expected in a clam chowder. Prime rib was a good thick cut. But served warm and almost at room temperature. Not exactly how I would like my prime rib. Shoe string fries were tasty. My boyfriend ordered the Clam Chowder and Shrimp Cocktail as starters, followed by Cajun Sea Pasta and a bunch of side dishes - southern Coke slaw, black beans and rice and the loaded baked potato. Shrimps in the shrimp cocktail was good sized shrimp topped with old bay seasoning. The pasta was seasoned just right, very tasty and delicious. Cole slaw was crunchy which meant the Cole slaw was freshly made and not sitting in the sauce for too long. Loaded baked potato was of good size and baked to the right softness. Black beans and rice was the only side dish that was a bit too salty but went great when mixed with the baked potato. Overall, we were impressed with Angelina's services, friendliness of the staff and quality of the foods.
