I love this place, mostly. Look, the food here is amazing, very good Peruvian/Chinese food. My favorites are the chauffa, and that's the arroz con chauffa de pollo, con bistec or con cameron. I also love the rotisserie chicken with plain chauffa. A half a chicken with an amazing amount of perfectly prepared chauffa that's off the hook good and costs 10 dollars. But my complaint is, why don't they pick up the phone at 12????? They open at 12, pick up the damn phone! Why don't they open at 11 or 11:30? It's maddening really. read more

I been coming here for year so this review is way overdue. This Chinese/Peruvian fusion is outstanding. I love this little spot, but my wife definitely loves it more. She has me eating here on a weekly basis. Our go to meal is here is arroz chaufa and the juicy rotisserie chicken with plenty of their delicious spicy green sauce. This place has the most amazing Chinese/Peruvian food. I am Chinese and let me tell you, their wonton soup and their roast pork fried rice is the best that I have ever tasted, even better than my mom's. The wonton soup is in a rich homemade stock with pieces of roast pork roast duck, chicken and chinese cabbage. The wontons skins are thin and tender and the filling is sooooo good. The fried rice has lots of tasty slightly sweet pieces of roast pork, scrambled egg and plenty of scallions. My husband and I also ordered a peruvian dish, the beef sauteed with noodles, onion, tomatoes. That was really good as well, but was even better with their green sauce. First off I ordered half a chicken and when I opened it up noticed the chicken was raw. I brought it back and made sure I received a fully cooked portion and I was on my way. Jaimito's is one of those great little places that you would drive by a hundred times and never think twice about but if you know anyone who has gone there they will tell you it's a gem. As other people have mentioned the restaurant is a hole in a wall but as my friend Terry says, "You can't eat ambiance." The food however is extremely tasty, inexpensive and generously portioned. The food basically is mostly classic Chinese dishes (the chow funs, fried rice, fried noodles, etc..) but with a little Latin twist and it works extremely well. First off, the fried rice tasted like traditional Chinese fried rice except with large chunks of duck meat. There were a few pieces of duck skin which might be a turn off for some people since its fatty, but I still liked it. Because fried rice can be a little boring, I would suggest pairing it with side dishes. The noodles were another story... it had chicken, duck, beef, and a variety of vegetables on a bed of soft noodles. This dish could stand on its own. After the first bite, I was like WOW.... this is dee-freakin'-licious! If you know me, I'm not big on noodles (rice is my fave), but I must admit that these noodles were MUCH better than the duck fried rice. I went on a Sunday night with my boyfriend who is also Peruvian like myself. We ordered chicharron de pollo and friend shrimp rice. The rice was okay, I feel like I have tried the same type in many other places even chinese stores. The chicharron de pollo was okay too, pretty standard. They didn't have regular hot sauce and the one they had was not too great. The chicha was okay too, it was kind of warm which was odd because I'm use to drinking it pretty cold. I expected more from this place but honestly it tasted like a regular chinese store - food. I feel as if I had that dish served way better in the Dominican place on 171st in NYC. This is a real interesting spot, a mix of Chinese and Peruvian, they have some great food. I had their roast chicken and chaufa, the rice was great and the chicken was delicious, tender, and even the white meat was moist and fell off the bone. I also had the yucca fries which were unbelievable. I would eat these over fries any day, they were crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and with just enough salt for me to keep wanting more. My favorite Peruvian place in my area was Marino's in Dover but their service and food has recently gone done significantly. I read lots of strong reviews for Jaimito's and decided to give it a try. The area it's in is not the nicest but the restaurant itself is well-kept and welcoming. To start off we ordered a papa a la huacaina, wontons, a ceviche mixto, and a pitcher of chicha morada. The papas were awesome as were the wontons. The chicha was good a little bit on the sweet side but nonetheless refreshing. The ceviche was my least favorite but still decent. The imitation crab really ruins it. We also ordered the seafood chaufa and the duck in tamarind sauce. Both were delish. Oh and that green hot sauce, amazing. Would totally recommend! read more

Wow! So just found this place today on Yelp. I was looking for somewhere to get Chinese house special soup and this came up for their wonton soup. So I saw that a couple people really spoke highly of their soup so I decided to drive over. The place is actually more restaurant like than I expected but is very small. At first I ordered a large wonton soup ($10.15 incld. Tax) which comes with small wontons, cabbage, duck and I think pork. As I was sitting there waiting for my soup I saw so many good dishes walk past, I decided to change that to a small wonton soup and asked the guy at the window what they were most known for. He recommended the house special rice which has shrimp , chicken , and pork. First, the soup is great! It's more of a house special soup. It had enough of everything and really hit the spot. BUT THE HOUSE SPECIAL RICE!!!!!!!! This rice is amazing, it comes with their green hot sauce on the side. Wow! Talk about flavor! It has enough meat and is just delicious! However, one day I wanted to get food to go and when I reached out to get the menu a cockroach was coming from the kitchen to the where the menu was then went back into the kitchen through the opposite side. Jaimitos has the best pollo a la brasa in the area. Their aji is really good. I recommend the chaufa plain with the chicken. For dessert, the masa mora with rice pudding is excellent. What can I say but when I'm thinking Peruvian Food I will drive all the way to Jamitos to get it! I was introduced to Peruvian food about three years ago and this place by a friend and I can honestly say that all the other places I've visited can't touch this one! By far the best Lomo Saltado and I believe I've had Homer Causa De Pollo and I'm in heaven! I've had the Tarallin de puerco and lord Jesus! If I'm craving Chinese I give my business to Peruvians as hey have mastered the skill of freshness, taste and happiness!! Hands down my fav place to eat. Yelp says Jaimito's CHINESE restaurant but it's actually Chinese & Peruvian, more Peruvian. Who knew this fusion place would work, but it does. It's a cute little place that was able to seat our party of 12 right in the middle of the eating area. It was a little tight but comfy. We ordered family style the wonton soup, shrimp fried rice, tostones (fried yellow plantain, maduros is the green one), seafood ceviche, tallarines camarones (or noodles with shrimp, and roast chicken. The tallarines camarones was the one dish that I felt was the fusion dish and it had shrimp on a bed of mixed noodles including canton noodles. It was bland but tasty. The shrimp fried rice was full on Chinese cuisine so expect it being as is. The wonton soup was available family size in a huge bowl and was served with smaller separate bowls like in those authentic Chinese restaurants and fed our party and then some (we doggie bagged the rest). Oh and yeah, the soup had chunks of roasted duck in it. So worth the price! The tostones are as good as tostones get. I expected the seafood ceviche to be served in the sauce it was ceviche'd in but it was served on a plate complete with fresh sliced red onions and cilantro. It was still delicious and refreshing. And last but not least, the roasted chicken accompanied with rice and tostones or beans or salad. It was a bit dry but still well seasoned. The staff is really nice. Not what i expected due to the rave about this place. The service needs to improve big time with the waiter. There is a guy over the counter and he customer service skills needs to be taught to the actual waiters. We were a group of 4 and 3 of us got told that they didn't have we wanted when she came to ask us our order. She said all they had was about 4 to 5 plates which we would have been helpful to know before hand !! I went to Jaimito's Chinese and Peruvian Restaurant with my family expecting to enjoy it as we enjoy eating our countries food. We are Peruvian btw. But it was absolutely disgusting and overpriced. We were charged for gratitude (tips) which should be something that if the costumer feels as if the service or if the waitress' service was good we should have the liberty to tip or not. But we were charged 15% for tips and my dad paid with card and was charged an additional 5% for paying with card.
