Originally I was looking for an electrician to install extra outlets to go behind our flat panel tv (to conceal power cord) and in a bedroom closet. (We were relocating our audio video equipment to a closet to save space) After I submitted my request David promptly called and answered all my questions and gave me a rough quote for the services. I scheduled an appointment for him to come by and he gave me a firm quote that was near to the guesstimate given over the phone. We scheduled a time to do the work and I couldn't be more pleased. The work was done quickly and without any issues, and David cleaned up any debris from the installation. BUT that's not all. I was also having some cooling issues, and we were being serviced by another company. Prior to the issue we were having issues keeping the back of our house cool. The company we had said there were no issues. At the time I didn't realize that JAKS was also a heating and AC company, David asked a few questions and asked if he could take a look at our unit. We went into the attic and within a few seconds he was able to tell me why the back of the house wasn't getting cooled down. David was very detailed in his explanation and answered any questions I had. He was also completely honest. He didn't charge me to look at our system and in this day and age that impressed me to the point that I am switching over to JAKS when our winter service has concluded with the other AC/heating company. I STRONGLY recommend JAKS for any AC/Heating and electrical needs!!! read more

Jak Services was recently acquired by Paschal Air, Plumbing, Electric and essentially doubled their prices. I had a capacitor replaced by Jak on one unit this past June and it was $180. High, but not outrageous. Then I called again in early August to replace the capacitor in my other unit and found Jak had been bought out. Paschal wanted $440 for the EXACT SAME SERVICE I'd had done just 50 days earlier for $180. I ended up replacing the capacitor myself for $21 and 10 minutes of work. Lesson learned there. Further, Paschal's yearly maintenance agreement is almost exactly double what Jak charged. I will most definitely NOT be doing business with Paschal. read more

My family is thankful for this company and their service. They were able to get someone out to look at the AC unit the same day. They sat and explained what was happening with the unit, provided quotes, and overall made me feel like it was a good decision to go with the company. Btw, your company never called me to schedule that (like you claimed) I called them so anything extra/free really wasn't free there was never anything free about your service. I was told there was a year warranty on their work and now they claim it's 30 days In reply to Piper's response below - don't try to make excuses for your bad behavior and customer service. After numerous issues with other air conditioning repair companies, I did my research and found JAK Services on Yelp. The high rating and great reviews sold me and so I called them after one of our AC units went on the fritz. I called and the quickly scheduled an appointment. They efficiently diagnosed the problems (it was more than one) and promptly replaced the defective items. The technician explained the problems, gave us options and they replacement and work comes with a one year warranty. I was very impressed with this company and so I will be scheduling periodic maintenance checks with them as well. I highly recommend them! read more

In a nutshell the first tech lied. The 2nd tech said we needed repairs that we actually did not. When we called into to speak with customer service they passed it off to owner. Owner did not call back. When we called again the owner was beyond disrespectful and certainly not professional. read more

I was having issues with my outside unit freezing up I called these guys out because they had decent reviews. The tech looks in the attic scans it for the unit steps down and wants to see the outside unit. He doesn't touch a thing at this point and right away is telling me I need a complete new system. What? Ridiculous. Instead of fixing the problem which is a leak somewhere and re charging the system all he was interested in was selling me a new system. I called these out thinking it was a good idea. Not the case. I payed him the fee for coming out for about 5 minutes. $80 bucks down the drain. read more

Saturday morning the office manager was quick to call me back and send help when the a/c quit cooling. I purchased an ac/heater unit in fall. Come late spring, the ac did not work. My thermostat was blamed and the technicians wanted to charge me +$700 for the service call. I argued the cause and asked that everything be put back and I would pay for their drive and time. They got upset and left without charging me anything. Arrogant about having many yrs of experience. Another company came out and found that the 2 wires going to the outside unit were internally shorted. Very simple test. I lost an expensive thermostat and power transformer from the original bad installation. read more

This review is only being posted as 2 stars as a result of a conversation with the owner, the service was good, the owner was beyond rude. I hesitate to post - no time, don't want to give the company a black eye, but the conversation was just inexcusable. Back story: A/C stopped blowing, I trouble shot, called JAK Services, and they showed up same day and on time (1 hour block). The technician was competent and friendly, (albeit I had several dirt clumps on my floor from his boots) but was unable to take payment due to some difficulty so I remitted via phone. He didn't provide a written estimate of repair, nor did I get an invoice for payment from he company that evening. Nothing alarming at this point, in fact I was quite pleased with the service, just not the business administration. I called the next morning, explained that I wasn't complaining, but just wanted my invoice, estimate with part info, and to point out that things were not reassembled as originally found. My intent was to get a second estimate and I wanted to see what the actual components cost so I could determine if I should use their service or was getting screwed on total cost of repair. Reception was nice and said I'd have the invoice within one hour. This is where the problems began. Still no invoice. Owner calls, conversation ensues, I restated what I wanted and he became upset, said I was like many of his customers: too cheap to pay for repairs and willing to let their family suffer while they shop to save 100 bucks or watch DIY videos. I don't have the expertise to fix it, I just wanted the best deal and to know I wasn't getting rolled over. He then continuously offered the part info over the phone, and I asked for it to be put on the invoice since I wouldn't remember it and he refused. He provided it to me over the phone, incessantly. Must have been a really bad day, he had lost his cool and continued to press me. I stated I only called to get my invoice and part info but since he was being rude, I let him know that things hadn't been completely put back together, outside disconnect was still pulled, panel screws on HVAC not screwed in, and thermostat didn't function anymore. He did explain (rudely) that the tech did the right thing keeping it disconnected and argued that the screws had been put back in. Look, I only wanted the thermostat to continue to read properly and he stated that if the system was turned back on that it would freeze up and flood and I'd sue him. I even offered to sign a waiver if necessary since I could keep the system off FROM THE THERMOSTAT if it was functioning. He still refused but then said "just go turn on the damn switch". I tried to bring the emotions down but he just didn't let me talk. Since the issue really surrounded affordability, military discount came into play. But that discussion didn't go well either, he was probably having an off day and tired of dealing with people. It was more than a rude experience, I'm a little deflated and insulted at the core. He has a thriving business, but I'm not willing to add to his earnings. Just got the invoice, bumping it up to 2 stars, good job front desk. read more

JAK services has proven themselves as a company you can trust and rely on. A couple things that sets it apart from the competition- the owner is very active in his business. He rolls up his sleeves with his employees to make sure the job is done right. Many times, he will be the person you deal with directly. JAK provides a two year warranty compared to other companies with a one year warranties. Anytime that I have had issues or unsure of something, JAK has been at my property the same day ( sometimes within the hour and even on the weekend!) JAK has not charged me service fees every time they come out. I appreciate this and find it to be rare. With such a large investment, I want to make sure that the job is done right and that the company is going to stand behind their product. JAK also helped us out when we were in a bind with financing. His wife, calling the bank directly to get us more money all at 0% interest. read more

I had an excellent experience with JAK Services. There was not a sense of urgency and it worked out that they were able to accommodate by first availability. The company sends you an email with the appointment information and picture and name of your service representative. The representative, Kyle, was prompt, professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. He listened to my concerns and fully explained the issue and how it could be resolved. I've only lived in the home for 7 weeks and he also showed me exactly how to change the filter and explained the frequency. He performed all the services in the one visit to my full satisfaction. I called and scheduled a appointment and was called back the next day for service. I talked to the tech about my Evap Coils possibly having a leak and I was low on freon on the phone before he arrived. He showed up and we began to take a look at my coil..which I already had everything removed for him to have easy access. He looked at it for a few seconds and said yes your coil is leaking. I asked don't you have a device that can show where it's leaking. He said I've been doing this for a long time so I can tell where it's leaking. He asked what do you want to do? I said well how much would it cost to replace the coil? He said well I couldn't do it for less than $1500! I said WOW. He said that's even if we can get the coil. To fast forward I called sears parts that handle carrier ac parts and I can get the coil and shipped for 395.00. So I was a little taken back because that's 1100 in labor? It's a 2 to 3 hour job from what I've seen and been told. So I said well I guess I have no choice other than to add some Freon which was quoted originally 45.00 a lbs, then was changed to 55.00 a lbs. He said he added 5lbs...which cost me total 350 bucks with the service call. It could have been 2lbs because he never showed what he added. So to sum it up I think I was a little disappointed on how things went. I wasn't sure he was really wanting to do the job and gave me a super high quote. And for future reference when you fill someone's freon I would take the time and show them how much you put in ESP at 55 dollars at lbs. read more

I got several quotes to replace my 5 ton HVAC system, and I selected JAK based on their price and excellent reviews. They were able to offer a discount from Oncor for a high efficiency system which was a big plus. David and his crew arrived at the scheduled time of 7am, and did a great job for a full installation and removal of the old system. Overall everything was done well, and the cleanup was excellent. You won't be disappointed with Jak's. They called me back within​ mins of leaving a message. The Technician Kyle showed up early. My A/C unit was diagnosed and fixed quickly. Ended up be a wiring issue. I further inquired about replacing our 2 antique thermostats and setting up an appointment. His response was I can do it today if you like. Both replaced and a/c repaired in about 90 mins. Not to mention he wasn't phased by my dog and 2 children running around. Great customer service. They will have our business again. read more

Tech thought or assumed I was looking to purchase a part (furnace motherboard) when in fact I know I likely need the whole furnace replaced. These people really know how to do business. You can probably find others that do just as good of work, but these people must have called me 10 times and then finally emailed me to schedule a service "Check up" that I signed up for the first time they came out last spring. I work nights, so I often get my messages late at night and I kept forgetting to call them back to schedule when I got off in the morning. They already had my money and could have just written it off as "can't contact customer".
