Let me first start with the good. The sales staff are absolutely fantastic. They go out of their way to make you feel at ease and are very attentive to your needs. Now, as a short background with Jake Sweeney Kia; I have purchased 3 brand new vehicles from them in the last 2 years. First was a 2012 Sportage, second was a 2013 Optima and last was a 2014 Sportage. My first purchase was flawless. Paul Kohlman was the best sales person I had ever dealt with. He went out of his way to make sure everything was perfect. My second purchase wasn't so great. I ended up being told something by the finance department and when it was all finalized the result was not what I was told during financing. I ended up having to deal with the finance manager who ended up being very rude, egotistical and unprofessional. But life went on. I ended up filing a complaint with the BBB that was never resolved amicably. Which brings us to purchase number 3. So I went to purchase my 2014 Sportage and again, sales-people were flawless. Great experience. But when I called the bank that held the loan for my previous trade-in to make sure the payoff had been made, they said it had not. I had to call the dealership to verify that the payoff had been sent. I was then transferred to the finance manager again. Upon asking him if the payoff had been sent I was told it was basically not my concern, and then he brought up the complaint from my previous purchase and threw it in my face. He was one of the most rude and unprofessional people I've had to deal with in quite a long time. I will NOT be making my next purchase from Jake Sweeney Kia. I will drive out of my way to go to another Kia dealership. I wish the star rating could be broken down into sections like sales, finance etc. Unfortunately it can't. I've bought a couple cars from JS Sweeney but this episode made the car experience for me both painful and extraneous. I spent almost 4 hours there and probably could have spent even more. I was intent and trading in a lease for another. That didn't work out so it went to financing a new 2019 optima which was great. Deal was made, shook hands and signed proposal, etc. Finally signed the finance paperwork and went to get the car and Lo and behold-- it was a 2018 model of the same color I requested. This was supposed to go unnoticed by myself but it failed not knowing I'm a car guy and have a clue. Long story short, after complaining that I wasn't taking the deal it eventually returned to the original deal and they tried to make it sound like it would have been better for all to take the 18 due to rebates and such...hello, a 2018 for the same price I was going to get the 19?!!! I purchased a brand new kia sportage from these guy, I was promised floor mats with the purchase by Chris Lester the salesman. They was suppose to ship them to us. Never have it's been 6 months, Iv called several times and have been lied to. I even stopped by and they acted like they are shipping them. I even had my sister come by a car bathe brand new sportage and they promised the mats and ended up just putting some carpet ones in a box. I buy new cars often for my business and personal and would never buy from these guys again. I never felt so lied to and scammed in my life. I bought a Van KIA Sedona 2005 and it had 60k miles in good shape, 2 days later the check engine come on. Before I took they car they said they were going to fill up the tank and clean it and they did not any of those things. We spend 5 hours inside for paperwork and they did nt spell my name right even they had my ID. I called them many times to solve all the problems and they dont care about anything. read more

I went to this kia dealer to buy a Certified Kia from their used car dept. I was a great experience the young salesman was very polite and when I had a question he didn't know the answer to he went and found the answer. My car is beautiful and we love it. This place must have changed or maybe those other people just had bad experience but mine was great. The managers seemed great, I met both as I came back the next day to drop off a check. My wife and I live in Louisville but were going to the Northern KY area. About 20 miles before our destination our transmission went out (this is a 2019 Kia Forte with 8000 miles). I arranged with Kia roadside to have our car towed to Jake Sweeney Kia and then called and spoke with Eric in service. By this time we were very flustered as we were stranded and due to the virus were informed that we could not ride with the car when it was picked up and neither Lyft nor Uber came to where we were and no taxis would come to us. Eric sent someone to pick us up and arranged a loner so by the time we got there we were set to go. That was late this past Friday afternoon. Today is Tuesday and our car has a brand new transmission and is back in our drive way in less then 2 business days. We have bought two kias new locally in Louisivlle in the last few years. This dealership isn't close enough for us to use regularly but I highly recommend them especially their service Dept. They went above and beyond for us and it was greatly appreciated. read more

Horrible shopping experience!! Will never go back. Had a scheduled appointment to see a car this morning. We asked that is be cleaned up and inside so we could see it due to the rain. We arrive and they don't even know where the car is. Sales person Tony Little promised a 2018 Fusion Hybrid was "immaculate" and had no blemishes or defects at all. I have bought cars from Jake Sweeney for 30 years, both at Tri-County and Florence. 5 years ago we bought 2 Kias in one night. So a few weeks ago we went back to purchase another Kia Van ( used). We had, as all the previous times, told them we didn't want the extended warranty. Our sales man Jarrod P. Added it anyway. Plus they added other items we didn't want. Purchased a certified Optima and traded in my older Optima. Love the car but the sales manger and our salesman were both weasels. I never received any call back with the issues I was having after purchase. It took two days for them to fix the breaks that they promised when I purchased the vehicle and the loaner car they promised was a piece of ***** . Had to wait in the lobby for 2 hours for the sales manger to answer a question and to type up a 3 sentence paper so that he could put his promise in writing (which he tried not to do.) I bought my Kia Soul here back in November. When I viewed the car online, it had 12 miles. I went and test drove a similar one and decided the one I saw online was the one I wanted but it was out on a "dealer trade" so, we did the paperwork and I took a loaner for the couple days it would take to get mine back. When I finally was informed mine would be in later that day(two days later), I drove down to exchange the loaner for my first ever new car. Much stalling later, I was told it was in being detailed. I waited and waited and finally, it was pulled up out front. I got in and was very excited until I looked down and saw that it had 1400 miles on it. I didn't want to make a huge deal as it was the day before Thanksgiving Day but, they told me to come back and they would take care of it. I returned on Saturday and the manager said that since the financing was already done, they couldn't reduce the price. He did tell me it would have knocked at least $500 of the price but said he'd work with me to make it right. I said a good start would be a set of the rubber floor mats they had on sale at the time. I got that. After that...... Nothing. I recently contacted them and said that I would call it even if they just made me a spare fob. I got to thinking that I only had one and they are pricey. I figured it was an easy way for everyone to be satisfied. The manager said that since it had been so long, they wouldn't do it. I suppose it's fine. I didn't realize that if you waited long enough, promised remuneration just evaporated. It hasn't seemed to be that way with any other debt for me but, for them, once you're out the door, you're just out. read more

Nice car but way overpriced for a Base model. The salesperson advertised functions on the car that it simply didn't have, and the naive car buyers we were back then didn't check, plus we were in hurry. They were also very pushy. We were screwed over by the financing department that approved us for a loan that we were (as the guy said) not approved for, so we got a call the next day that we would have to come back and got an even worse rate as we already had (I think it was about 15% APR). Because it was their mistake we wanted to take the car back because it was just ridiculous to pay this much for a used base model vehicle. As if that wasn't the worst they tried to threaten us with their lawyers and said they are going to sue us plus keep our down payment.... I don't think we are going back there, like EVER. read more

I am extremely displeased. I bought a certified used car in June - 2 months later I had to take it back and the replaced the radiator. 2 months after that I had to take it back because it was doing the same thing, this time they replaced the radiator and the motor. It took them 38 days to replace it. Hopefully, I won't have to take it back again in another 2 months. Fortunately it was all covered by the warranty and Scott in the service department was very helpful and always prompt in returning my phone calls and keeping me up to date on the status. But to add insult to injury, I was promised a 2nd key in which I have never received. I contacted the sales person 4 or 5 times and had someone I know that works there to tell him personally, and he has never even tried to get back to me or get me my 2nd key. read more

Tried to pay off my mother's car a month and a half before her lease was up. The Salesman tried to charge her $500 more than her payoff. After I brought this to his attention, he left us at his desk for 20+ minutes to talk with his boss. With so much time on our hands, I walked outside to call the number of the financial institution on the payment stub. (I had to walk outside because, for some strange reason, there is no internet available when sitting at the Salesman's desk) Within 5 minutes I had the payoff that was $500 less than they told me. After 30 minutes of waiting we finally left the dealership. We never needed to go to the dealership, although Salesman Ricky Hicks told me it had to be done at the dealership. What a waste of time. Angela was great in service and got me in and out quickly. Had a sensor light on also and she had that fixed too. Overall good service experience, just wish they had the air filter when I came in for the actual service. Had to make a second trip. Also, the sensor went off right after I left the dealership when I had the service done and rotation. Could have been from the cold though. They ran a credit check on me after being told specifically not to do so; they continue to spam me despite multiple requests for them to stop. Overall, their service and professionalism was non-existent and they have zero, I mean ZERO, commitment to doing the right thing. Everytime we are here we feel welcome and taken care of. Today we was literally told to make ourselves at home. They offered free refreshments and they're totally cool with you changing the channel on the TV. It really makes the long wait much more bearable. The place is very clean neat and organized, and as long as we have been customers we have always received top grade service. They also offer free WiFi and have a comfortable waiting area, with a small Kia accessories for sale area (which is cool cuz I'm a total dork for making things match) I really can't think of any bad experience to mention here. We a have never had anything missing or out of place in our vehicle after the services, so ther is a little trust that has been established with this business (which isn't the easiest thing for me to do). All and all we are totally satisfied with the service here, we will continue to be patrons of this business and will continue to update on the level of service we receive. read more

Unethical Dealership I went to buy a car from Jake Sweeney Kia. It was my first new car. During negotiations the salesman Ryan said that he would give me a $299 paint protection for no charge. He also asked if I wanted a $2000 extended warranty. I said no. I felt rushed to sign the contract and initialed where he said to initial. I was also charged over 18% interest because I had no credit even after putting $5,500 down. After getting home I realized there was a $2000 charge for an extended warranty and a $899 charge for paint protection on the contract. I had to drive back and get the extended warranty taken off. I was told it could be 4-6 weeks. I called Ryan about taking off the $299 and he just talked in circles. Then I talked to Cody the sales manager about the paint protection. He said the $899 was for a 5 year protection and since I initialed the contract he would not take it off. He said Ryan was not allowed to offer the paint protection for free. He was very rude and threw me out of the dealership. Nice way to treat a customer. I called the general manager Mr. Sweeney. He said he would give back $600 but I would still have to pay the $299 for a one year protection. I'm very angry because it was supposed to be free. On top of that my sister said she would loan me the money but because I after waiting over 6 weeks for the $2000 to be taken off I called the loan company and they still hadn't received the paperwork so I called the dealership and the lady who was supposed to send in the paperwork had forgotten about it! I now owe several hundred dollars in daily interest and loan fees because of this dealership! The loan could have been paid off right away. I feel I was totally taken advantage of and did not get what was promised. Other people I talked to said they never heard of a dealership acting that way. I wish I had gone anywhere else. read more

My son went Friday night and signed papers on a new car. They presented him with two options and said "pick one". He was being pressured by his girlfriends dad to trade in her truck and buy another vehicle so that the amount owed would go onto his new vehicle. With that being said, the salesman saw the pressure being put on this first time car buyer and took advantage of the situation. He did end up eating the $8,000 owed on the trade-in but here's where it breaks down...The list price on the new car wasn't even negotiated upon. You know when you walk into a dealership negotiations are made on the list price. Because they told him to pick one and he was unaware of this "game" dealerships play, the salesman went for it!!!! They wanted this deal to happen so bad that they did all the paperwork without even having a copy of my sons drivers license. My son had worked all day and was tired and ready to go home. He was pressured into buying the new car and signed papers at 9:00pm that night. The next morning around 10:30 he returned the car to the dealership and said he wanted the truck back and wanted to return the car. Get ready for more shady business. First, they said the truck wasn't there but will have it back on Monday but by the end of conversation they changed their story and said they had sold it (from 9pm the night before to 10:30am the next morning) They did not want to give up the astronomical amount they had made using these unscrupulous tactics. We sat there for over three hours waiting for someone to help us. They were rude, disrespectful, threatened to call the cops to have us removed...all because we asked them to explain the papers he signed about returning the car in less than 24 hours. They didn't even want to give their names!!! We asked to speak to the owners or anyone higher up than a general sales manager and were refused. They need to make this right and return the truck and take the car back. The bullying, and intimidation tactics used were unethical. They took advantage of my son and all they kept saying was oh well, he's an adult. YES, to the woman that was screaming he's an adult live with it, he is an adult!! One that works very hard making an honest living, one that has served our great country and fought for our freedoms, and one that was taken advantage of by Jake Sweeney kia of Florence, KY. read more

I purchased a truck from this place. The sales guy Micheal Meyer told me that anything that was wrong with the truck would be fixed. So I purchased the truck in good faith. I signed all my papers and the deal was closed. I didn't get to take the truck home that night because he said they were going to detail and wax it and fix anything that was wrong. The next day I go to pick up truck, it wasn't clean, I mean I could tell they ran water over it, that's about it. Also the things that were wrong were not fixed. The front end making noise still, the gas cap hanging off the truck, the light bar didn't work, and it had a dent in the driver side passenger door that wasn't there the day before when I purchased it. I did see a small dent and scratch on the tailgate but my sales guy said that it would be taken care of. They didn't do anything they said they were going to do. Honestly the truck wasn't even cleaned that good, nor was it waxed. I took the truck back to the dealership about 3 hours later disappointed to talk to a manager. They never came to me, instead they stood outside starring at the truck. The sales manger told me he would fix the noise on the front of the truck and the gas cap and that's it. That wasn't the deal between the sales guy and I. He said " everything would be fixed". While I'm standing outside with this manager he pulls out a piece of paper with a list of things wrong with the truck. That's when I really got upset and said why were all these things not fixed, and why am I just seeing this list. Why didn't they show me that list before I bought it, then I could have made a better decision on still buying it, or talking them down in price. Not only are they not going to fix everything that's on the list, but they never showed me the list of things that was wrong with the truck until after all the paper work was signed. This was very deceitful and I'm very upset. They put selling a vehicle before caring about the customer and being up front and honest. Then lied to me knowing things were wrong with this vehicle with no intent of ever fixing the stuff. I'm highly disappointed with my sales guy, the service department, and the management team. I feel betrayed, lied to, and like I got scammed. If I honestly didn't feel these things I'd never spend the time putting this information out there so that this doesn't happen to the next person. I'm honestly thinking about going and speaking with a lawyer. I never knew a dealership could be so unwilling to hold to their word and leave a client so disappointed. Bought a new KIA from a guy named Shannon......total liar!! Told me I got free car washes for as long as I owned my new KIA.....service dept. told me he lied....they don't even have the staff to wash cars like that. He also said every 5th oil change is free....starting with the first one........service dept. informed me......"no, you will have to buy all the other oil changes in between those free ones and then you get every 5th one free".....he just like out right lied.....I called one of the owners...i believe its Coby or Cody Sweeney.....he tried to make it seem like I was making a big deal out of nothing....was even chuckling while I was speaking.....and then said sarcastically "look, you want car washed.....call me and I guess I can throw on a pair of jeans and wash it for you...ok?" My daughter went to Jake Sweeney in Florence today to purchase her 1st car. The salesman, Michael Meyer said he would hold the car until tomorrow so that I could go back with her to sign the paperwork. A couple of hours after she left, he sent her a text and said he sold the car he was holding for her but would help her find something else out on the lot. VERY POOR way to do business. I called and spoke to the Manager but all he said was that it was company policy to leave a deposit. She was prepared to leave one but that never came up in the conversation. Micael Meyer had my daughter's cell phone number since he obviously texted her to tell her that he sold the car. He could have mentioned at any time that he needed a deposit. I am very dissatisfied with the professionalism of this dealership. I think that it is dishonest for a dealer to quote a price and when you come in, their best price is almost $1500 more that what your original quote was--and still $500 more than what is advertised online. It is a waste of my time to be lied to and to be pulled around by gimic prices and promises of incompetent sales consultants. I do not feel it is EVER an okay excuse to say that the "third party" computer system quoted that price and that you have not been trained on the computer system yet. If you send an email from YOUR name, it's not a third party system. Because of your unfortunate ability to keep your word, I went to another dealership and purchased a vehicle the same day for $1500 less. I will never recommend your dealership. read more

I unfortunately just bought a Kia Forte from Jake Sweeney Kia of Florence, KY and it was the worst 3 hours of my life plus it cost me an extra $1,000 more than what was quoted by email - I have the proof. First, the cars on the website rarely exist on the car lot. When we went to buy the car we saw on the website and negotiated the purchase price via email with Joe Netto, the car was different and had a different sticker price (again, we have proof). So my wife and I decided to buy what they had on the lot expecting the same deal but they shorted me $500 (I decided to let this go). From the time we agreed to the time to sign the paperwork, it was 3 hours. It was the worst customer service and processing I have ever been through. BEWARE! The 3 hour process is designed to make you too tired to want to give up at the end when the finance guy, Shane Soard, hits you with extra fees, including, processing fee of $450 and $200 for undercoating. Shane quickly went through the details and said sign and when we balked at these extra fees they said they could remove $200 but not the $450. Now, I'm stuck, I lost $1,000 walking in the door from what was previously agreed and my wife wanted the car anyway. We bought it. I am the dunce and you can shame me but I thought you should be wise that the 3 hour wait is designed to get an extra $1,000 or so, including extra insurance. Obviously, no one has to buy but be ready to walk away (if you can and don't have a wife to stop you). Be prepared to also see different cars than what is on the website and don't trust the salesman to own up to the deal that was previously agreed upon. Here's what I would do differently: 1) print out all emails and notes previously discussed to show the salesman and manager what was agreed upon; 2) if the deal cannot be processed within 1 hour then leave immediately and demand either you get processed more quickly or you'll come back; 3) when sitting down with the finance guy who does the loan, ask if there are any additional charges, such as undercoating, processing fees, add-ons, or anything OUTSIDE the purchase price that may or may not be something you are willing to pay. Keep in mind, if you're not there for 3 hours, then you didn't waste much time. I agree it is my fault for signing but I thought I had it licked by having my ducks in order before I went - apparently, I didn't account for staying 3 hours and the salesman had great excuses as to why it takes time, i.e., the manager has to print the paperwork to provide the finance guy (1/2 hour); after signing a few documents with the sales guy, he states that we will be in the cue for the finance guy 940 minutes); after inquiring he said that they are backed up and some used car deal snuck in somhow plus the computers were running slow (40min). Airport Ford and Jim Burkenheur did not do this to me when I bought two fords from them in the past so it is not true that all dealers do this. BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE! We went their to look at a suv Tom scott was our used sales men.He is the best sales men I ever meet .He kept suv in back so nobody would buy it before we got their since we lived so far away.Their was no pressure from him at all.We agreed on price after going back and fourth.he got the payment we needed .I told him we wanted to think about it overnite before I drop $20.000 into suv .He understood then the salemanager came out said in his 15 years he has never had anybody say that and he said he was confused as he shook his head and was very rude to us then said this deal is only for today and walked away with out even saying thanks for stopping by or anything.He needs to be retrained in treating customer service and on that note we did not buy from that dealer ship.But let me say Tom Scott is a great guy so if you do go their ask for Tom.He will bend over backwards for you.To bad his manager blew his sales read more
